Tutorial: How to Install the USB Driver

The following tutorial will show you how to install the USB driver. The USB driver will need to be installed manually if the digital recorder is plugged into the PC before the installation CD is used. Instructions and images below are for installation of drivers to the Microsoft Windows® XP operating system. See notes for any differences of installation on other operating systems.

Step 1: Insert CD into CD ROM Driver
 

 
If you connected the digital recorder to the computer before installing the Voice Recorder Link software, a Found New Hardware Wizard screen will display. This wizard will take you through the process of installing the USB drivers that are needed to run the program. Insert the Voice Recorder Link software CD into the CD drive then choose the option Install from a list or specific location (Advanced). Click NEXT to continue.

Note: Windows® 98/2000 - Select Search for a suitable driver for my device (Recommended). Click NEXT.
         Windows® Me - Specify the location of the drive. Click NEXT.

 
Step 2: Choose the Search and Installation Options
 

 
Select the option Search for the best driver in these locations and check Include this location in the search. Click on the BROWSE button.

Note: Windows® 98/2000 - Select Specify a location. Click NEXT.

 
Step 3: Browse for the Driver Folder
 
 
Click on My Computer. Click on the CD ROM drive letter, in this case D and select the folder called Driver. Click OK. D:\Driver should display in the search and installations window. Click NEXT.

Note: Windows® 98/2000/Me - Enter the location of the driver x:\driver where x is the drive letter of your CD ROM drive. Click NEXT.

 
Step 4: Install the USB Driver Software
 
 
The Voice Recorder Link software will begin to install. If a window pops up with a message saying that the device has not passed Windows Logo testing, click on the CONTINUE ANYWAY button.
 
Step 6: Complete the Installation
 
 
When the software has finished installation, click the FINISH button to close the installation wizard.
