Delete outdated directory records or schedule alarms to free
additional space (see "Deleting a Directory Record " or
            "Deleting a Schedule Alarm").

eight characters. After the first eight characters, the records are
stored in the order in which they were entered.

1. Press CHAIR LIKE SIGNAL.

2. Enter the first character of the record you want to find. The first
    matching record appears.

character to the right, or press and hold down VIEW to scroll
           continuously.

    Record").

Note: If the character you want to edit on the upper line is not
displayed, press VIEW to scroll the display one character to
the right, or Press and hold down VIEW to scroll continuously,
until the character you want to edit is the last character in
           the line.

2. Press ERASE. ENTER appears in the lower left corner of the display
and a flashing cursor erases the last character on the first line.

cursor erases all the unwanted letters.

Note: If RIGHT ARROW appears on the left side of the display when you
begin to erase characters, any text to the right of the first
           erased character remains in storage.

3. Enter the correct characters.

USING THE SCHEDULE ALARMS

Schedule alarms keep you in control of your busy schedule by reminding you
of meetings and other important events. For each alarm, you can enter an
upper line ALARM message of up to 36 characters (see "Calculating Storage
Space" to figure the amount of storage required).

Note: All lower line alarm-time entries use 8 storage locations per
           schedule alarm.

At the set alarm time, the alarm sounds for 30 seconds and the
corresponding message appears on the display.

To silence the alarm, press any key.

Notes: Since pressing any key turns off the alarm, it might not sound
(nor the alarm message appear on the display) if you are
entering information when a schedule alarm time is reached.

If the ALARM sounds and the alarm message displays while you
are entering information, the information you entered might
            not be stored.

If your EC-344 is locked when the schedule alarm time is
reached, the alarm sounds but the alarm message does not

CALCULATING STORAGE SPACE

The total storage capacity for the EC-344 is 1392 memory locations.

To display the remaining available storage space, press ROLODEX SYMBOL OR
CALCULATOR SYMBOL. The amount of storage still available appears on the
display.

Take the number above the last character of the name (upper line) you want
to enter and add it to the number below the last digit of the number
(lower line) you want to enter.

(In the example, 23 + 12 = 35 memory locations)

To calculate the remaining storage space, subtract the above result from
the amount of currently available memory.

(1392 - 35 = 1357)

The result gives you the remaining available storage space.

Use the following charts to calculate storage space when the upper line
contains from 13 to 36 characters.
