About Blackjack

OBJECT OF THE GAME: The object of blackjack is to defeat the dealer (the
EC-370) by getting a higher point total than the dealer without going over
21 points.

CARD VALUES: Each card is counted at its face value. For example, a 4 is
worth 4 points, and an 8 is worth 8 points. The 10 and face cards (Jack,
Queen, and King) count as 10 points each (commonly called 10-count cards).
An Ace can be either 1 or 11 points.

BETTING: You place your bet before the dealer deals the cards. If the
dealer wins the hand he collects the bet. If you win the hand, you collect
the bet.

Bets are paid off evenly. For example, a 10-point bet wins 10 points.
There are only two exceptions:

If you get Blackjack (a total of 21 points on the first draw), you get a
3 to 2 payoff - you win 15 points for your 10-point bet.

If you doubled your bet, you get a 2 to 1 payoff - you win 20 points for
  your 10-point bet.

WINNING, LOSING, AND PUSHING: If the total of your hand does not exceed
21 points but is more than the dealer's total, you win. If the dealer's
total exceeds 21 points, he busts (loses) and you automatically win.

Note: The dealer must draw (take a card) on any hand showing 16 points or
less and must stand on all hands totaling 17 to 21 points.

If your two-card hand consists of an Ace with any 10-count card, you have
Blackjack. If the dealer does not have Blackjack, you are an automatic
winner.

If at any time your total exceeds 21 points, you bust and automatically
lose. If this happens, you always lose your bet.

If the dealer gets Blackjack and you do not, you automatically lose.

When you and the dealer have the same total hand (less than 21), the game
is a draw, or push. Your bet is returned to you and play continues with
the next hand.

Playing Blackjack

    icon.

2. Press 1 to select Black Jack.

Note: The EC-370 gives you a bank (SCORE) of 1000 points each time you
          start a game.

3. Place your bet. Use the number keys to enter the amount you want to
    bet.

Note: The maximum bet is the current amount of your score.

4. Press SET. The EC-370 deals two cards to you (the lower cards on the
display) and two cards to the dealer (the upper cards on the display),
then Select ? and two options (such as 1 HIT and 2 STAND) appear on
    the display.

Note: One of the dealer's cards is dealt face up and is called the
exposed card. The other is dealt face down and is known as the
          downcard or hole card.

5. Press the number that appears beside the desired option (see "Choosing
Your Options" below). Repeat this step, if necessary, up to four times
    to play out the hand.

6. If you win, YOU WIN and the amount you won appears, then the EC-370
automatically adds the points you won to your total.

If you lose, YOU LOSE and the amount you lost appears, then the EC-370
automatically subtracts the points you lost from your total.

    repeat Steps 3-6.

Play continues until one of the following occurs:

Your total points reach 0. If this happens, Oh, Sorry!, Try again!
appears. To play another game, press any key (except OFF) then repeat
  Steps 3-7.

Your total points reach the maximum of 10,000. If this happens, YOU ARE
LUCKY! Appears. To play another game, press SET then repeat Steps 3-7.

To return to the games menu, press ESC twice.

Choosing Your Options

STAND: Select STAND if you are satisfied with your hand. Play moves to the
       dealer.

HIT: Select HIT to request an additional card. The EC-370 lets you select
HIT until you reach 5 cards or 21 points or bust.

Note: If your card total reaches 5 and your total points are not greater
than 21, 5 CARDS appears as an option instead of HIT and STAND.
Select 5 CARDS to challenge the dealer to beat the total of your 5
cards with the total of only his original 2 cards (meaning the
      dealer cannot draw).

DOUBLE: If your first two cards total 11, DOUBLE: 1 Yes/2 No appears.
Select Yes to double your original bet or No to continue normal
play. If you select Yes, the bet is subtracted from your total
score and you can take only one more card.

SPLIT: When SPLIT: 1 Yes/2 No appears, select Yes to split the cards and
play two hands or No to continue normal play. If you select Yes,
your bet automatically doubles. 1st or 2nd appears, indicating
       which hand you are playing.

Note: You cannot split if your point total is less than your bet.

INSURANCE: When the dealer's exposed card is an Ace, INSURANCE: 1 Yes/2 No
appears. Select Yes to insure your bet against the dealer
having Blackjack, or No to continue play without insurance.

Note: If you select Yes, the cost of insurance (half of your original bet)
is subtracted from your total score. If the dealer has Blackjack,
you win the insurance bet. If you also have Blackjack, your original
bet is added to your total score. If the dealer does not have Black
jack, you lose the insurance bet and play continues.

Note: You cannot insure your bet if your point total is less than half
      your bet.

Puzzle Game

About the Puzzle Game

OBJECT OF THE GAME: The EC-370 displays a word with one or more blank
spaces. The object of the puzzle game is to correctly guess the missing
letters in the word. If you enter six incorrect guesses, play is over and
the EC-370 tells you the correct answer.

LEVELS OF PLAY: The EC-370 lets you select from two levels of play:
Beginner (easy) or Advance (difficult).

Playing the Puzzle Game

1. Press MENU to display the main menu, then press 8 to select the games
    icon.

2. Press 2 to select Puzzle Game.

3. For an easy level of play, press 1 to select Beginner. For a more
difficult level of play, press 2 to select Advance.

Note: If you selected the advanced level of play, an arrow appears
above one of the word's blank spaces.

4. Press a letter that you think belongs in one or more of the word's
    blank spaces.

Note: If you selected the advanced level of play, you must guess the
letter where the arrow is pointing on the display.

If your guess is correct, the letter(s) replace the space(s) in the
    word.

If your guess is incorrect, the number to the right of Miss: increases
by 1 and the fuse on the bomb shortens.

Repeat this step for each missing letter in the word.

5. Play continues until you correctly guess all missing letters or until
    you incorrectly guess 6 letters.

If you correctly guess all missing letters, OK appears.

If you incorrectly guess 6 letters, the bomb explodes on the display
and wipes away the puzzle word and your MISS total, then the correct
    answer appears.

To play again, repeat steps 3-5.

To return to the games menu, press ESC twice.
