about 20 seconds and displays the daily alarm screen, then the last
selected function appears on the display. To stop the alarm while it is
sounding, press any key.

Notes: If the EC-370 is off when the set alarm time is reached, the EC-370
turns itself on, sounds the alarm, and displays the daily alarm
       screen.

If you press a key at the exact time the alarm is set to sound, the
alarm might not sound and the data you entered might not be stored.

changing the alarm time, follow the steps in "Turning On/Off the
Alarm/Key Sounds" in Faxback Doc. # 61490 and select DAILY AL in
      Step 4.

Storing Telephone Records

Each telephone directory record lets you store up to 383 characters and
has preset fields where you can enter name, phone number, and address
information, along with up to six "free" (freestyle) fields where you can
enter any type of information (such as birthdays, anniversaries, etc.).

Notes: You can enter only 16 characters on a line, but you can store more
than one line of information in any field.

You can store letters in the phone number fields.

For example:

  Name field: Doe, Marvin
                  Doe, Martha

  Phone field: Home 555-0826
                  FAX 555-0819

  Address field: 1600 Big Street

Storing Memos

The EC-370's memo function is ideal for storing important memos, such as
lists, meeting notes, and more. Each memo you store can be up to 383
characters long. The EC-370 recognizes the first line of each memo as the
subject line, so you can easily recall a memo based on its subject (see
"Displaying/Recalling Records" below).

Follow these steps to enter a memo.

Note: To cancel a memo entry without storing it and return to the MEMO?
prompt during Steps 2-4, simply press ON/CLEAR.

1. Press MENU to display the main menu, then press 2 to select the memo
icon. MEMO, the current number of memos in memory, and MEMO? Appear
    on the display.

Note: The EC-370 stores memos in the order in which you enter them.
To store the current memo before a previously stored memo,
recall that memo now so its subject line appears at the top of
the display. See "Displaying/Recalling Records" below.

2. Enter a brief (up to 16 character) description of the memo on the
first (subject) line, then press (Enter)/NEXT (if necessary) to move
the cursor to the beginning of the second line.

3. Enter the memo information, up to 383 characters.

4. To store the memo as the next in memory, simply press SET. OK DATA
ITEM STORED! appears briefly, then the memo you just entered appears
    on the display.

Note: To store the memo before a previously stored memo, press SHIFT
so S appears, then press SET to store the memo.

To store another memo, press ON/CLEAR so the MEMO? prompt appears, then
repeat Steps 2-5.

Notes: To recall a memo, see "Displaying/Recalling Records" below.

To edit a memo, see "Editing a Stored Record" in Faxback Doc. #
       61492.

Storing Schedule Records

The EC-370's schedule function lets you store the date, start and end
times, and details (up to 373 characters) of events (such as meetings,
appointments, etc.) to help keep track of your busy schedule.

You can also set the EC-370 to sound an alarm to remind you of the
scheduled event. When the set alarm time is reached, the EC-370 sounds an
alarm for about 20 seconds and displays that schedule record. To stop the
alarm while it is sounding, press any key.

Notes: To set the EC-370 so it does not sound an alarm or display the
schedule record at any set schedule alarm time, follow the steps in
"Turning On/Off the Alarm/Key Sounds" in Faxback Doc. # 61490 and
select SCHED AL in Step 4.

If you press a key (while entering data, for example) at the exact
time a schedule alarm is set to sound, the alarm might not sound
and the data you entered might not be stored.

If the EC-370 is off when a set alarm time is reached, the EC-370
turns itself on, sounds the alarm, and displays that schedule
       record.

Follow these steps to enter and store a schedule record.

1. Press MENU to display the main menu, then press 4 to select the
schedule icon. The current date and day of the week and schedule
records stored for that day (if any) appear on the display.

Notes: If you select the schedule function immediately after using the
calendar, the last date you selected on the calendar appears
           instead of the current date.

If no schedule records have been stored for that day, the TIME?
prompt appears below the date and day of the week.

To cancel a schedule entry without storing it and return to the
TIME? prompt at any time during these steps, press ON/CLEAR.

9. Enter a description of the scheduled event (up to 373 characters).

HINT: The first 9 characters of a schedule record appear on the
display when you scroll through stored records using an index
view (see "Displaying/Recalling Records" below). For easy
reference later, enter up to 9 characters on the first line that
describe the event (such as "Dentist" to describe a dentist
appointment), then enter any details on the lines that follow.

10. To store the schedule record without setting an alarm, simply press
    SET.

To set the EC-370 to sound an alarm to remind you of the event, press
\/. AM and the start time you set in Steps 3-5 appears, then:

To use the event's start time as the alarm time, simply press \/
      then SET.

To select a different alarm time, enter the desired alarm hour,
press >, enter the desired alarm minutes, then press SET to store
      the schedule record.

Notes: If the time you entered is in the past (if you enter 10:00 AM, for
example, and it is now 10:15 AM), ALARM TIME ALREADY PASSED!
appears briefly when you press SET, then the EC-370 stores the
record without an alarm time. If this happens, you can recall the
record and enter the correct alarm time. See "Maintaining Stored
Records" in Faxback Doc. # 61492.

If you enter an alarm time then decide (before you press SET) you
do not want to set the alarm, you can press DEL so ALM reappears
then press SET to store the record without an alarm.

To store another record, press ON/CLEAR to return to the TIME? prompt,
then repeat Steps 2-10.

Storing Reminder Records

The EC-370's reminder function lets you set an alarm to sound for events
that occur every day, month, or year (such as daily or monthly meetings).
Each reminder record consists of a date (month/day), alarm time, and
reminder message (up to 378 characters).

When a set reminder alarm time is reached, the EC-370 sounds an alarm for
about 20 seconds and displays that reminder record. To stop the alarm
while it is sounding, press any key.

Notes: If the EC-370 is off when the set alarm time is reached, the EC-370
turns itself on, sounds the alarm, and displays that reminder
       record.

If you press a key (while entering data, for example) at the exact
time a reminder alarm is set to sound, the alarm might not sound
and the data you entered might not be stored.

To set the EC-370 so it does not sound an alarm or display the
reminder record at any set reminder time, follow the steps in
"Turning On/Off the Alarm/Key Sounds" in Faxback Doc. # 61490 and
       select REMINDER in Step 4.

appears to the right of the set month (instead of day digits).

5. Press > so ALM TIME? appears, then enter the alarm hour. The set hour
digit(s) flash and the minutes (00) appear.

6. Press > so the minute digits flash, then enter the minute(s).

Displaying/Recalling Records

Displaying Records

The EC-370 lets you display each type of record you store (telephone,
memo, reminder, and schedule) in two different ways - full view or index
view.

Full view lets you view up to four lines at one time of all data stored in
a selected record.

Note: If /\ or \/ appears on the display while a record is displayed in
full view, you can press /\ or \/ to scroll backward or forward
      through the record.

Depending on the record type, index view lets you view key data for up to
two stored records at one time.

To change the display from one view to the other, simply press DISP CHNG.

Note: If you change from index to full view while more than one record
appears on the display, the EC-370 selects a full view of the record
that appeared at the top of the index display.

Recalling Stored Records

You can search for and recall stored telephone, memo, schedule, and
reminder records in these ways:

Display and scroll through an index of records, then select the record
you want to recall. See "Using Index Search" below.

Search for a record using the reminder date (reminder records only) or
the first few characters contained in the stored record (telephone and
memo records only). See "Using Initial Character Search" below.

Note: When you recall stored schedule records, the EC-370 also displays
      any reminder records you stored.

Follow these steps to search for a stored record by scrolling through all
stored records of that type.

Note: If you are searching for a schedule record, you must scroll through
each day (including those that do not contain records) to find the
desired record. To find the desired record faster, however, you can
select that schedule record's date in the calendar function first,
      then begin the index search.

1. Press MENU to display the main menu, then select the icon for the
function where the record is stored.

2. If you are searching for a telephone, memo, or reminder record, press
/\ to start with the last record or \/ to start with the first record.

or monthly reminder and the date of a daily reminder.

3. Press SEARCH. SEARCH appears and the EC-370 displays the index view
of up to the first two records that match the search data you entered.

Note: If no records are stored in memory or no record matches the data
you entered, NOT FOUND! appears briefly, then the search data
you entered reappears. To clear the display, press ON/CLEAR. To
edit the search data and try again, use the arrow keys to move
the cursor and enter the correct data (see "Editing a Stored
Record" in Faxback Doc. # 61492), then repeat this step.

4. If more than one record matches the search data you entered, press /\
or \/ to scroll forward or backward through the matching records until
