Phone Directory

You can store a contact's name and two telephone numbers into each phone 
directory record.  The name can be up to 48 characters, and each telephone 
number can be up to 48 digits.

Entering a Phone Directory Record

1.  Press PHONE.  NAME?, SPC (space) and a number showing the available
    memory, and TEL appear.

    Note:  FULL appears if the memory is full.  You can delete phone 
           directory or other types of records to free memory (see 
           "Deleting a Phone Directory Record" below).

2.  Enter the contact's name.

      The organizer stores names alphabetically, so you might want to 
      enter the last name first.

      To enter a space, press SPACE.

      To select a symbol (., -, $, (francs symbol), (yen symbol),/ , ,,
      `or: ), repeatedly press SYM.  Then press > to select the symbol.

      If you make an incorrect entry, use the arrow keys to move to the 
      character you want to change, then type the correct character over 
      the old one.

      To insert a space before a character press INSERT.

3.  Press \/ then type the first phone number. 

    Note: Use SYM to enter a hyphen or SPACE to enter a space.

4.  Press \/ then type the second phone number.

5.  Press ENTER to store the record.  WAIT... briefly appears, then the
    record is stored.

    Note:  Repeat Steps 2-5 to enter the next phone directory record. 

6.  To return to the Home Time display, press TIME.

Recalling A Phone Directory Record

You can recall a phone directory record by either sequential or direct 
recall.

Sequential Recall by Name

1.  Press PHONE to enter the phone directory. 

2.  Press SEARCH \/ to view the first record sorted alphabetically by
    name. 

3.  Repeatedly press SEARCH /\ or \/ to view the previous or next record
    until the desired record appears.

Direct Recall by Name

1.  Press PHONE to enter the phone directory.

2.  Enter the first few characters of the desired name. 

3.  Press SEARCH \/ to begin the search.  WAIT... appears, then the first
    record that begins with the characters you entered appears.

    Note:  If a matching record is not found, NOT FOUND appears.

4.  If necessary, repeatedly press SEARCH /\ or \/ to view the previous or 
    next record stored in sequence until the desired record appears.

Editing a Phone Directory Record

1.  Recall the record you want to edit. 

2.  Press EDIT.  A flashing cursor appears on the first character of the 
    contact's name. 

3.  Use the arrow keys to move the cursor to the character or digit you 
    want to change. 

      To change a character, simply type the correct character.

      To change a character to a space, press SPACE. 

      To add a character, press INSERT so a space appears, then enter the
      character.

      To delete a character, press DELETE. 

4.  When you finish editing, press ENTER.  WAIT... briefly appears as the 
    organizer saves the changes you made to the record.

Deleting A Phone Directory Record

1.  Recall the record you want to delete. 

2.  Press DELETE.  DELETE? (Y/N) appears.

3.  If you are sure, press Y.  The entire directory record is deleted.
    Otherwise, press N.  The record remains unchanged.

Schedule Alarms

Schedule alarms help you stay in control of your busy schedule by 
reminding you of meetings and other important events.  For each schedule 
alarm, you can enter an alarm message of up to 48 characters.

At the set alarm time, the alarm sounds for 15 second and your stored 
message appears.  If the organizer is off at the alarm time, the organizer 
turns on, sounds the alarm, and displays the alarm message.

To silence the alarm sooner, press any key.

Notes:  Because pressing any key turns off the alarm, the alarm might not 
        sound if you are entering information at the precise alarm time.

        If the alarm sounds and the alarm message appears while you are 
        entering information, the information you are entering might not 
        be stored.

Entering A Schedule Alarm Record

1.  Press SCHD. SCHED?, SPC (space) and a number showing the available 
    memory, and SCH appear.

    Note:  FULL appears if the memory is full.  You can delete schedule 
           alarm or other types of records to free memory (see "Deleting a 
           Schedule Alarm" below).

2.  Enter the alarm message. 

      To enter a space, press SPACE.

      To select a symbol (+, -, $, (francs symbol), (yen symbol), /, ,,
      ' or :), repeatedly press SYM.  Then press > to select the symbol.

      If you make an incorrect entry, use the arrow keys to move to the 
      character you want to change, then type the correct character over 
      the incorrect one.

3.  Press /\.  The first digit of the year flashes. 

4.  Enter the alarm date (year, month, day).

5.  Enter the alarm time. 

    Note:  In the 12-hour format, press AM/PM (X) for a PM time.

6.  Press ENTER.  WAIT... flashes momentarily and then (bell symbol)
    appears.  The alarm is set to sound.

    Note:  Repeat Steps 2-6 to enter another schedule alarm.

7.  To return to the Home Time display, press TIME.

Turning The Schedule Alarm On And Off

The schedule alarm is automatically set to sound when you set the alarm 
time.  To turn off the schedule alarm, press SCHD then INSERT/(musical 
symbol).  (Bell symbol) disappears.

To turn on the schedule alarm again, press SCHD then INSERT/(musical
symbol).  (Bell symbol) appears.

Recalling A Schedule Alarm Record

You can recall schedule alarm records using either sequential recall by 
alarm time or direct recall by alarm message.

Sequential Recall by Alarm Time

1.  Press SCHD to enter the schedule alarm mode. 

2.  Press SEARCH \/ to view the record for the first scheduled alarm.

3.  Press SEARCH \/ to view the next record or SEARCH /\ to view the 
    previous record in chronological order. 

Direct Recall by Alarm Message

1.  Press SCHD to enter the schedule alarm mode. 

2.  Type the first few characters of the desired schedule message. 

3.  Press SEARCH \/ to view the first record that begins with the
    characters you entered.

    Note: If a matching record is not found, NOT FOUND appears.

4.  If necessary, press SEARCH \/ to view the next record or press SEARCH 
    /\ to view the previous record in chronological order. 

Editing A schedule Alarm Record

1.  Recall the schedule alarm you want to edit. 

2.  Press EDIT.  A flashing cursor appears on the first character of the 
    display. 

3.  Use the arrow keys to move the cursor to the character you want to 
    change. 

      To change a character, simply type the correct character. 

      To change a character to a space, press SPACE.

      To add a character, press INSERT so a space appears, then enter the 
      character. 

      To delete a character press DELETE. 

4.  Press ENTER.  WAIT... briefly appears then the organizer stores the
    edited schedule alarm.

Deleting A Schedule Alarm

Follow these steps to delete a schedule alarm record after its date has 
passed (to free up memory) or if you do not want it to sound on the set 
date.

1.  Recall the schedule alarm you want to delete.

2.  Press DELETE.  DELETE? (Y/N) appears.

3.  If you are sure, press Y. The entire schedule alarm record is deleted.
    Otherwise, press N.  The record remains unchanged. 

Daily Alarm

You can set an alarm to sound at a set time of day.  When the daily alarm 
is on, ((.)) appears and a tone sounds for about 15 seconds at the set 
time.

To silence the alarm sooner, press any key.

       sound if you are entering information at the precise alarm time.

Setting The Daily Alarm

1.  Press SCHD twice to enter the daily alarm mode.  ALARM appears. 

2.  Press EDIT.  ALARM appears and the first hour digit flashes.

3.  Use the number keys to enter the alarm hour and minute.

    Note:  If you make a mistake, press > or < to move forward or backward 
           to the digit that you want to change.  Then enter the correct 
           digit.

4.  In the 12-hour format, press AM/PM to set the alarm time to AM or PM. 

5.  Press ENTER to store the alarm time.  ((.)) appears, and the alarm is 
    set to sound. 

6.  Press TIME to return to the current date and time display. 

Turning The Daily Alarm On And Off

Press SCHD twice.  ALARM and the current alarm time appear.  Then press 
INSERT to turn the alarm on or off.  ((.)) appears on the display's left 
side when the alarm is set to sound. 

Note:  Turning the daily alarm on or off does not affect the schedule 
       alarms (see "Entering a Schedule Alarm Record" above).

Memo/to-Do Records

The memo function lets you store important messages, and the to-do 
function lets you list activities you need to accomplish.  For each memo 
and to-do record, you can enter a record of up to 48 characters, and two 
lines of telephone numbers (each line can hold up to 48 digits.)

Entering A Memo Or To-Do Record

1.  Repeatedly press MEMO until the type of record you want to enter 
    appears.  MEMO? or TO DO?, SPC (space) and a number showing the 
    available memory appear.

    Note:  FULL appears if the memory is full.  You can delete memo/to-do 
           or other types of records to free memory (see "Deleting a Memo 
           or To-Do Record" below).

2.  Enter your message.

      To enter a space, press SPACE. 

      To select a symbol (., -, $, (francs symbol), (yen symbol), /, ,,
      ' or :), repeatedly press SYM.  Then press > to select the symbol.

      If you make an incorrect entry, use the arrow keys to move to the 
      character you want to change, then type the correct character over 
      the incorrect one.

3.  Press ENTER to store your memo.  MEMO? or TO DO? reappears with the
    remaining available memory.

    Note:  Repeat Steps 1-3 to enter another memo or to-do record.

4.  To return to the Home Time display, press TIME.

Recalling A Memo Or To-Do Record

You can recall a memo or a to-do record using sequential search or direct 
search.  Memos and to-do records are stored alphabetically using the first 
few characters of the record.

Sequential Search

Repeatedly press MEMO until the type of message you want to recall (MEMO? 
or TO DO?) appears.  Then, if necessary, repeatedly press SEARCH /\ or \/ 
to view the previous or next record stored in sequence until the desired 
record appears.

Direct Search

1.  Repeatedly press MEMO until the type of message you want to recall
    (MEMO? or TODO?) appears.

2.  Type the first few characters of the desired memo or to-do record.

3.  Press SEARCH \/ to recall the first memo or to-do record that begins 
    with the characters you typed.

    Note:  If a matching memo or to-do record is not found, NOT FOUND 
           appears.

4.  Repeatedly press SEARCH /\ or SEARCH \/ to scroll up or down through 
    the memo or to-do records sequentially. 

Editing A Memo Or To-Do Record

1.  Recall the memo or to-do record you want to edit. 

2.  Press EDIT.  A flashing cursor appears on the first character of the
    display.

3.  Use the arrow keys to move the cursor to the character you want to 
    change.

      To change a character, simply type the correct character.

      To change a character to a space, press SPACE.

      To add a character, press INSERT so a space appears then enter a 
      character.

      To delete a character, press DELETE.

4.  Press ENTER.  WAIT... briefly appears while the edited memo or to-do
    record is stored.

Deleting A Memo Or To-Do Record

1.  Recall the memo or to-do record you want to delete. 

2.  Press DELETE.  DELETE? (Y/N) appears.

3.  If you are sure, press Y.  The entire memo or to-do record is deleted.
    Otherwise, press N.  The memo or to-do record remains unchanged.

Secret Records

The organizer lets you block access to phone directory, schedule alarm, 
memo, and to-do records which you enter in the secret area.  Once you set 
a password of up to 8 characters, phone directory, schedule alarm, memo, 
and to-do records in the secret area are locked until you delete the 
password.

Notes:  The organizer automatically turns itself off if you do not press a 
        key for about 7 minutes.  Even if you selected a record before the 
        organizer turned off, you must press SECRET then enter your 
        password again to select the record.

        You must enter the secret area before you can store or recall 
        secret records.  You cannot move open records into the secret 
        area.

Entering Secret Records

1.  Press PHONE, SCHD, or MEMO to select the area where you want to store  
    secret records.  Then press SECRET.  PASSWORD? appears.

2.  Enter a password of up to 8 characters, then press ENTER.  (Key 
    Symbol) appears on the bottom left.

    Notes:  Your password can include any combination of letters, numbers,
            or symbols.

            Be sure you can remember your password.  If you forget it, you 
            must reset the secret memory which clears all of your secret 
            records (see "Resetting the Secret Memory" in Faxback Doc. #
            59678).

3.  Enter the desired record.

When you finish entering a phone directory, schedule alarm, memo, or to-do 
record and press another function key, (key symbol) disappears and you are 
removed from the secret area.  To re-enter the secret area, repeat Steps 1 
and 2.

Note:  After you turn off the organizer (or it automatically turns off), 
       (key symbol) does not appear when you turn it back on.  To re-enter 
       the secret area, you must press SECRET then enter the password.

Recalling Secret Records

1.  Press PHONE, SCHD, or MEMO.

2.  Press SECRET.  PASSWORD? appears.

3.  Enter the password, then press ENTER.

4.  Recall the record you want to see.

Changing The Secret Password

1.  Press PHONE, SCHD, or MEMO.

2.  Press SECRET.  PASSWORD? appears.

3.  Enter the current password and press ENTER.  The initial display for 
    the function you selected (PHONE, SCHD, or MEMO) appears.

4.  Press SECRET again.  PASSWORD? appears. 

5.  Enter a new password and press ENTER to change the password.
