(650-0765) Care and Maintenance Faxback Doc. # 51804
To enjoy your RadioShack EC-239 3K Memory Vertical Style Electronic
Organizer for a long time:
Keep the EC-239 dry. If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately.
Use and store the EC-239 only in normal temperature environments.
Handle the EC-239 gently and carefully. Don't drop it.
Keep the EC-239 away from dust and dirt.
Wipe the EC-239 with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it looking new.
Modifying or tampering with the EC-239's internal components can cause a
malfunction and invalidate its warranty. If your EC-239 is not performing
as it should, take it to your local RadioShack store for assistance.
Notes: At very low temperatures, the display's response time might slow
down or the display might fail completely. This is only temporary.
The EC-239 works normally again when it returns to normal
temperature.
If the EC-239 is exposed to strong static electrical charges, the
display might become dim or the EC-239 might fail to respond. This
rarely happens, but if it does, reset your EC-239 (see "Resetting
the EC-239" below).
Replacing the Batteries
Your EC-239 uses two 3-volt CR2016 lithium batteries. The main battery
powers the EC-239. The backup battery protects the information stored in
memory while you replace the main battery.
When the display dims or stops working properly, replace the main battery.
To protect the data stored in your EC-239, replace the backup battery once
every 2 years. We recommend RadioShack Cat. No. 23-160 for both main and
backup batteries.
CAUTIONS: Never remove both batteries from the battery compartment at the
same time. If you do, you could lose stored information.
Be sure to wait until the EC-239 turns itself off before
replacing the batteries. Otherwise, you could lose stored
information.
To protect the data stored in your EC-239, remove the old
batteries and install the new ones as quickly as possible.
Follow these steps to replace the main battery or the backup battery.
1. Wait until the EC-239 turns itself off.
2. Slide the battery compartment cover off in the direction of the arrow
on the cover.
3. Use a pointed object such as a straightened paper clip to pry out the
battery you are replacing.
4. Install the new battery with the positive (+) side(s) facing up.
WARNINGS: Always dispose of old batteries promptly and properly.
Never burn batteries.
Keep batteries out of reach of children. Swallowing a
button cell battery could be fatal.
5. Replace the battery compartment cover.
Resetting The EC-239
If the EC-239 is not working properly, use a pointed object such as a
straightened paper clip to press RESET on the back of the EC-239. If he
EC-239 still does not work properly, replace the main battery and press
RESET again.
The directory/memo records, the schedule alarms, and your security code
remain in memory after you reset the EC-239. However, you must reenter
the current date and time and the daily alarm time. Resetting the EC-239
also turns off the key tone, hourly chime, and daily alarm, so turn these
on if desired.
Note: If the EC-239 still does not work properly after you reset it, see
"Initializing the EC-239" in Faxback Doc. # 51800.
