Standard Calculations

Press the keys in the order they appear in the arithmetic operation.  for 
example:

       YOU PRESS     YOU SEE

        3 + 4 =        7.
      8 x 3 - 4 =     20.
      6 / 3 + 2 =      4

Press C/CE once to clear the last entry.  Press C/CE twice to clear all 
pending calculations.

Note:  If the result of a calculation has more than 12 digits, or if you 
try to divide by 0, E (error) appears.  To clear the error, press C/CE.

Square Calculations

To do square calculations, press the number, x, then =.

For example, to calculate 4^2:

       YOU PRESS      YOU SEE

         4 x =          16.

Memory Calculations

The calculator's memory calculation feature lets you do multi-step 
calculations easily.

    Press MC to clear the memory.

    Press M+ to total a calculation and add the total to memory.

    Press M- to total a calculation and subtract the total from the value
    in memory.

    Press MR to recall (display) the value in memory.

M appears when you store a value in memory.  M disappears when you clear 
the memory.

For example, to find (4 x 5) + (28 + 2) - (7 - 2) + (75 / 5):

         CALC           CAL 0.
      4 X 5 = M +        M 20.
     28 + 2 = M +        M 30.
      7 - 2 = M -        M 5.
     75 / 5 = M +        M 15.
         MR              M 60.
         MC                60.

Percent Calculations

What is 12% of 150?

       YOU PRESS       YOU SEE

       150 X 12%         18.

What percentage of 880 is 660?

       YOU PRESS       YOU SEE

       660 / 880%        75.

What is 15% discounted from 82?

       YOU PRESS       YOU SEE

        82 - 15%        69.7

Add 8% to 65

        65 + 8%         70.2

Using The Account Manager

The account manager lets you keep track of the balance in up to six bank 
or credit card accounts.  Although the keys are designed for three bank 
(B1 (B), B2 (H), B3 (N)) and three credit card (C1 (C), C2 (I), C3 (0)) 
accounts, you can store any type of account balance in any of the six 
locations.

You must enter a security code to use the account manager.  The security 
code is preset to 000.  To change the security code, see "Changing the 
Security Code" in Faxback Doc. # 51803.

Follow these steps to enter or update an account balance.

1.  Press CALC.  then press ACCT.  CODE - - - appears.

2.  Enter the security code (000).

    After you enter the third digit of the security code. ACCOUNT and the
    total balance for all six accounts appear on the display.

3.  Press one of the account keys (B1, B2, B3, C1, C2, or C3).  The
    display shows the account's current balance.

4.  Enter the amount and press D (DEP) to record a deposit or to enter a
    positive starting balance.

    Enter the amount and press J(W/D) to record a withdrawal or to enter a
    negative starting balance.  The display shows the new account balance.

Using The Currency Converter

You can use your EC-239 to convert between US dollars and up to three 
other currencies you choose.

Entering and Storing an Exchange Rate

You can store up to 3 foreign currency exchange rates in the EC-239's 
memory.  Follow these steps to enter and store a currency exchange rate.

1.  Press CALC.

2.  Press EX SET (Y).  ENTER RATE appears.

3.  Use the keypad to enter the amount of the foreign currency that is
    equal to 1 US dollar.

    Note:  If you need to correct the amount you entered, press ERASE then
           enter the correct amount.

4.  Choose a memory location then press EX 1 (A), EX 2 (G), or EX 3 (M) to
    store the exchange rate in that location.

5.  Repeat Steps 2 - 4 for each additional exchange rate, storing each in
    a different memory location.

Converting From US Dollars

1.  Press CALC.

2.  Use the keypad to enter the amount of US currency to convert.

    Note:  To correct the amount you entered, press ERASE then enter the
           correct amount.

3.  Press the key for the memory location where you stored the exchange
    rate you want to use (EX 1, EX 2, or EX 3).  The amount of foreign
    currency that is equivalent to the amount of US currency you entered
    in Step 2 appears.

4.  Repeat Steps 1 - 3 for each additional currency conversion.

Converting to US Dollars

1.  Press CALC.

2.  Use the keypad to enter the amount of foreign currency to convert.

    Note:  To correct the amount you entered, press ERASE then enter the
           correct amount.

3.  Press V (EX REV).  CALC. REV appears.

4.  Press the key for the desired exchange rate (EX 1, EX 2, or EX 3).
    The amount of US currency equivalent to the amount of foreign currency
    you entered in Step 2 appears.

5.  Repeat Steps 1 - 4 for each additional currency conversion.

Playing The Decision-Maker Game

To let the EC-239 "help" you make a decision, press (clock symbol) (if 
necessary) to display the date/time then press DEP (D).  DECISION - YES, 
DECISION - NO, or CONSIDERING appears.

Press DEP to play the game again.  One of the three answers randomly 
appears each time you press DEP.
