Removing The Insulation Slips

The insulation slips preserve battery power during shipping.  Remove both 
slips by pulling them away from the EC-239.

Initializing The EC-239

Initialize the EC-239 before you use it for the first time.  This clears 
all stored information.  Follow these steps to initialize the EC-239.

1.  While you hold down ERASE (C/CE) on the front of the EC-239, use an
    object such as a straightened paper clip to press RESET on the back of
    the EC-239.  The display turns off.

2.  Release ERASE (C/CE) then press RESET again.

3.  Press LOCK, (clock symbol)(TIME), TIMER, (bell symbol)(ALARM), STORE,
    CALC, or RECALL.  The EC-239 turns on.
