Home/World Time

Once you set your home city's date and time zone, you can view the current 
date and time in 30 time zones around the world.  The organizer also has 
two alarms you can set to help you be on time in your busy life.

Setting Your Home City's Date/Time Zone

When you set the date and time for your home time zone, all other world 
times are set automatically, based on your home time zone.

Note:  The organizer automatically sets the day of the week based on the
       date you enter.

Follow these steps to set your home city's date and time zone.

1.  Press ON/OFF to turn on the organizer.  The time display appears.  If
    you are using another mode on the organizer, press (world symbol)
    (TIME) so the time display appears.

2.  Repeatedly press \/ or /\ until a three-character code for a city or
    area in your time zone appears in the upper right corner.

3.  Press EDIT.  SELECT CITY appears.  Press ENTER twice.

4.  Press EDIT, then press \/.  EDIT TIME appears.

5.  Press ENTER.  The date's first digit flashes.

6.  Type in the current date.

    Notes:  To enter a single digit (0-9), press 0 first.  For example, to
            enter 8 for August, press 0 then 8.

            If you enter an incorrect digit, repeatedly press > or < to
            move the cursor to the digit you want to change, then enter
            the correct digit.

7.  Press \/ to move the cursor to the next line.  The first hour digit
    flashes.

8.  Enter the correct time.

9.  If your organizer is set to the 12-hour format, press AM - PM (Z) to
    choose AM or PM.

10. To save your day/date/time settings, press ENTER.  The current date
    and time appear.

To abandon the date and time you entered, press ESC.  The original 
day/date/time setting appears.

Note:  If you enter an invalid date (such as 14 for the month), ERROR!
       briefly appears.  When ERROR! disappears, change the date or time,
       as needed.

After setting the date and time, see "Changing a City Code," below, to 
change the selected city code to a three-character code you create for 
your home city.

City Code and Time Zone Chart

Your organizer contains the following 30 time zones around the world and 
displays a three-character code that represents a city or area in that 
time zone.

Note:  The time column indicates the time difference between that time
       zone and GMT (Greenwich Mean Time or universal time).

Changing A City Code

If the code for a particular time zone does not represent the city or area 
name you want, follow these steps to change the three-character code for 
that time zone as it appears in the organizer.

1.  At the time display, repeatedly press /\ or \/ until the three
    character city code you want to change appears.  Or, repeatedly press
    the first letter of the city or area you want to change.  For example,
    to select New York City, repeatedly press N until NYC appears.  If you
    press a character that none of the city codes start with, NOT FOUND!
    appears briefly, then the home time zone appears.

2.  Press EDIT.  SELECT CITY appears.

3.  Press /\.  EDIT NAME appears.

4.  Press ENTER.  The city code you selected appears with the first letter
    flashing.

5.  Enter a three-letter abbreviation for the city or area you want to
    represent that time zone.

6.  Press ENTER.  The time display appears with the city code you input.

Viewing World Times

To view the time in any of the 30 time zones around the world, at the time
display, repeatedly press /\ or \/ until that time zone's city code
appears.  Or, repeatedly press the first letter of the city code that 
represents the time zone you want to view.  If you press a character that 
none of the city codes start with, NOT FOUND! appears briefly, then the 
home time zone appears.

Daily Alarm

You can  set the organizer to sound two alarms at two different times 
every day.  When the daily alarms are turned on, the organizer beeps for 
about 15 seconds at the set alarm times (even if the organizer is off).  
Press any key to silence the alarm sooner.

Note:  Because pressing any key turns off the alarm, the alarm might not
       sound if you are entering information precisely at the set alarm
       time.

Setting The Daily Alarm Times

To set the alarm times, follow these steps.

1.  At the time display, press (world symbol).  ALARM TIME 1, - - : - - or
    the current alarm time setting, and AM or PM appear.

2.  Press EDIT.  The first hour character flashes.

3.  Use the number keys to enter the alarm time (hour and minute).

    Notes:  To enter a single digit (0-9), press 0 first.  For example, to
            enter 8, press 0 then 8.

            If you make a mistake when entering the time, you can press >
            or < to move the cursor to the digit you want to correct, then
            type the correct time.  Or, simply start over again at Step 1.

4.  If your organizer is set to the 12-hour format, press AM - PM to
    choose AM or PM.

5.  Press ENTER to store the alarm time.

    Note:  If you enter an invalid time (such as 28 for the hour or 74 for
           the minute), ERROR! briefly appears.  When ERROR! disappears,
           change the alarm time, as needed.

6.  Press (world symbol).  ALARM TIME 2, - - : - - or the current alarm
    time setting, and AM or PM appear.

7.  Follow Steps 2-5 to set the second alarm time.

8.  Press (world symbol) to return to the time display.

Turning The Alarm ON/OFF

To turn on the alarm so the daily alarms will sound at the set alarm 
times, press SHIFT then ALARM (M).  (bell symbol) appears to show the 
alarm is turned on.

To turn off the daily alarm, press SHIFT then ALARM again.  (bell symbol) 
disappears.

Phone Directories

Your organizer has three telephone directories which you can use t keep 
separate phone lists, such as business contacts, personal friends, and 
general phone numbers.  In each record, you can enter an individual's 
name, company name, address, phone number, and fax number, as well as any 
important notes about that person or company (up to 128 characters per 
record, including spaces).

Note:  The organizer displays only 12 characters per line at a time.  If >
       or < appears on the first line, press > or < to view the characters
       that have scrolled off the display on that screen.

Naming The Directories

The organizer's telephone directory names are TEL 1, TEL 2, and TEL 3.  
You can use these names or you can change one or more of the directory 
names to something more descriptive (up to eight characters).

1.  At the time display, repeatedly press (phone symbol) until the
    directory name you want to change briefly appears.  Then NAME?
    appears.

2.  Press EDIT.  The directory name appears with the first character
    flashing.

3.  Enter the directory name you want to use, up to eight characters.

    Note:  If you enter more than eight characters, the last character is
           replaced by each additional character you enter.

4.  Press ENTER to store the new directory name.  NAME? appears.

If you decide not to change the directory name, press ESC.  The name 
remains unchanged.

Repeat Steps 1-4 for each directory name you want to change.

Storing Phone Records

To store phone records alphabetically by name:

1.  At the time display, repeatedly press (phone symbol) until you see the
    directory where you want to store information.  The directory name
    briefly appears, along with the total number of records in that
    directory, the available memory units (F), and the used memory units
    (U).  Then NAME? appears.

2.  Enter the name, then press ENTER.  COMPANY? appears.

    Note:  To skip any field, such as the company name, simply press
           ENTER.

3.  Enter the company's name, then press ENTER.  ADDRESS? appears.

4.  Enter the address, including street and city, all on one line.  Then
    press ENTER.  TEL appears.

5.  Enter the telephone number, then press ENTER.  FAX appears.

6.  Enter the fax number, then press ENTER.  NOTE? appears.

    Enter any additional information you want to store about this person
    or company.  Then press SAVE (EDIT).

        To edit a phone record, see "Editing a Record", below.

        To delete outdated phone records to free memory space, see
        "Deleting a Record", below.

Scheduler

You can store a message and set the schedule alarm to sound at the time 
you want.  When the schedule alarm is turned on, the organizer beeps for 
about 15 seconds at the set alarm time.  Press any key to silence the
alarm sooner.

Notes:  Because pressing any key turns off the alarm, the schedule alarm
        might not sound if you are entering information precisely at the
        set schedule alarm time.

        If the schedule alarm sounds while you are entering information,
        the information you entered might not be stored.

        If the organizer is off when the schedule alarm sounds, press
        ON/OFF to silence the alarm and view the message.

        If the organizer is on when the schedule alarm sounds, press (schd
        sheet symbol) to view the message.

Storing Schedule Alarm Records

1.  Press (schd sheet symbol).  SCHEDULE briefly appears, along with the
    total number of schedule alarm records, the available memory units
    (F), and the used memory units (U).  Then SCHEDULE, the current date,
    and 12:00 AM appear, with the first month digit flashing.

2.  Enter the alarm date, if different.  Then press \/ to move the cursor
    to the time line.  The first digit flashes.

    Note:  You must enter two digits each for the month, date, hour, and
           minute.  For example, to enter January 12, 1999, at 1:15 P.M.,
           type 01-12-1999 for the date and 01:15 for the time.  (Do not
           type the hyphens or the colon.  They appear automatically.

3.  Enter the alarm time.

    Note:  If your organizer is set to the 12-hour format, press AM - PM
           to choose AM or PM.

4.  Press ENTER.  ALARM OFF appears with OFF flashing.

    Note:  If you entered an invalid date or time, such as 12-38 for the
           date or 29:15 for the time, ERROR! briefly appears when you
           press ENTER.  Change the date/time as needed.  Then press ENTER
           again.

5.  Press SELECT to change ALARM OFF to ALARM ON.

6.  Press ENTER.  NOTE? appears.

7.  Enter the alarm message.  If you do not enter any characters, NOTE? is
    stored as the alarm message.

8.  Press SAVE to store the record in order by date and time.  SCHEDULE,
    the current date, and 12:00 AM reappear so you can store another
    schedule alarm record, if you want.

    To cancel the record before you store it, press ESC.

        To edit a schedule alarm record, see "Editing a Record", below.

        To delete outdated schedule alarm records to free memory space,
        see "Deleting a Record", below.

Memo/To-Do

The organizer's memo pad lets you store important information such as 
price lists and timetables.  You can list the tasks you want to accomplish 
in the to-do list.

Storing Memo Records

You can store up to 134 characters in each memo record.  Memo records are 
sorted alphabetically.

1.  Press (memo sheet symbol).  MEMO briefly appears, along with the total
    number of memo records, the available memory units (F), and the used
    memory units (U).  Then NOTE? appears.

2.  Enter the information.  If you do not enter any characters, NOTE? is
    stored as the memo record.

    To cancel the record before you store it, press ESC.

3.  Press SAVE to store the memo record.

Storing To-Do Records

You can store up to 134 characters in each to-do record.  To-do records 
are sorted alphabetically, with records beginning with a number listed 
first.

1.  Repeatedly press (note sheet symbol) until TO DO briefly appears,
    along with the total number of to-do records, the available memory
    units (F), and the used memory units (U).  [] appears.

2.  Press SELECT.  [] flashes.

3.  Press ENTER.  NOTE? appears.

4.  Enter the task you want on your to-do list.  If you do not enter any
    characters, [] is stored as the to-do record.

    To cancel the record before you store it, press ESC.

5.  Press SAVE to store the to-do record.

        To edit a memo or to-do record, see "Editing a Record", below.

Recalling a Record

Scrolling through Records

To search through phone, memo, or to-do records alphabetically, or through 
schedule alarm records in date and time order, follow these steps.

1.  For phone records, repeatedly press (phone symbol) until the phone
    directory name you want to scroll through briefly appears.

    For schedule alarm records, press (schd sheet symbol).

    For memo records, press (note sheet symbol) until TO DO briefly
    appears.  Press SELECT, then ENTER.

2.  EDIT appears at the bottom of the display.  Repeatedly press \/ or /\
    until the record you want to view appears.

    To view a phone record's company name, address, or other stored
    information, repeatedly press ENTER.

Note:  The organizer displays only 12 characters per line at a time.  If >
       or < appears on the first line, press > or < to view the characters
       that have scrolled off the display on that screen.

Name/Note Search

1.  For phone records, repeatedly press (phone symbol) until the desired
    record's phone directory name briefly appears.

    For memo records, press (note sheet symbol).  MEMO briefly appears.

    For to-do records, repeatedly press (note sheet symbol) until TO DO
    briefly appears.  Press SELECT, then ENTER.

2.  EDIT appears at the bottom of the display.  Enter up to 8 of the first
    (left-most) characters of the name or note you are searching for, then
    press \/.

    The organizer displays the first record that starts with the
    character(s) you entered.

    If no record starts with the characters you entered, NOT FOUND!
    appears, the organizer displays the record that would come next in
    alphabetical order.  You can scroll through the records from that
    point.

    If more than one record starts with the characters you entered, press
    \/ to scroll forward through the matching records.

Note:  To view a phone record's company name, address, or other stored
       information, repeatedly press ENTER.

Date Search

1.  For schedule alarm records, press (schd sheet symbol).

2.  EDIT appears at the bottom of the display.  Enter the date you want to
    check.

3.  Press \/ to move to the time line.  To search for a specific time on
    the date you entered, enter the time.

    Note:  If your organizer is set to the 12-hour format, press AM - PM
           to choose AM or PM.

4.  Press \/ to view the matching record.

    If no record matches the date/time you entered, the organizer displays
    the record that would come next in date/time order.

    If more than one record matches the date/time you entered, press \/ to
    scroll forward through the matching records.

Note:  To alternately view the alarm message and the alarm status (on or
       off), repeatedly press ENTER.

Editing a Record

Note:  If you make a mistake when editing or if you want to abort editing,
       simply start again at Step 1.

1.  Recall the phone, schedule alarm, memo, or to-do record you want to
    edit.

2.  For phone, schedule alarm, or memo records, press EDIT.  For to-do
    records, press EDIT then ENTER.

    To view other fields in the phone and schedule alarm records, press
    ENTER.

3.  Press >, <, \/, or /\ to move to the character you want to change.

4.  Press SHIFT then DEL for each character you want to delete.

    Press SHIFT then INS to insert one or more characters.  INS appears at
    the bottom of the display.  When you finish inserting, press SHIFT
    then INS again.  INS disappears.

    At the schedule alarm status, press SELECT to choose ALARM ON or ALARM
    OFF.

5.  Press SAVE to sore your corrections.

Deleting a Record

1.  Recall the phone, schedule alarm, memo, or to-do record you want to
    delete.

2.  Press SHIFT then press DEL.  DELETE (Y/N)? flashes.

3.  Press Y (yes) to delete the record.

    Otherwise, press N (no).  The record remains unchanged.

Calendar

The organizer can display a weekly calendar from January 1901 through 
December 2099.  For each schedule alarm record you have stored, [] appears 
next to that date to remind you to check your schedule alarm records for 
upcoming events (see "Recalling a Record", above).

Checking Your Calendar

Press (calendar symbol)(CALEN).  The current weekday, year, and month 
appear, with the current date flashing.

To scroll through the calendar month by month, press \/ or /\ until the 
month and year you want to view appear.  Then press > or < to scroll 
through the dates one day at a time until the date you want to check 
flashes.

To quickly view a specific date, press ENTER.  SEARCH DATE? and the 
current date or the last date you were viewing appear with the first month 
digit flashing.  Enter the date you want to view, then press ENTER.  The 
weekly calendar for the date you entered appears with the date flashing.

You can use the date you selected on the calendar to set a schedule alarm.
When the date you want is flashing, follow Steps 1-8 in the section 
"Storing Schedule Alarm Records", above to set your schedule alarm.
