Turning The Organizer ON/OFF

Press ON/OFF to turn on the organizer.

Press ON/OFF again to turn it off.  The organizer automatically turns off 
it you do not press a key within the selected power-off time (from 1 to 9 
minutes)(see "Setting the Format and the Auto-Off Timer", below.)

Turning The Key Tone ON/OFF

To turn on your organizer's key tone, press SHIFT, then press (music 
symbol) (B).  (music symbol) appears and the organizer sounds a tone each 
time you press a key.

To turn off the key tone, press SHIFT, then press (music symbol) again.  
(music symbol) disappears.

Setting The Format and The Auto-Off Timer

To set the date and time format, as well as the auto-off timer, follow 
these steps.]

1.  Press ON/OFF to turn on the organizer.  The time display appears.  If
    you are using another mode on the organizer, press (world symbol)
    (TIME) so the time display appears.

2.  Press SHIFT, then press FUNCTION (F).  FORMAT:  appears with Y-M-D
    flashing.

3.  Repeatedly press SELECT (SPACE) until the date format you want
    appears.  Choose from Y-M-D (Year-Month-Date), M-D-Y (Month-Date
    Year), or D-M-Y (Date-Month-Year_).

4.  Press V.  FORMAT: appears with 12HR. flashing.

5.  Repeatedly press SELECT until the hour format you want appears.
    Choose either the 12-hour or the 24-hour format.

6.  Press V.  AUTO OFF: appears with 4 flashing.

7.  Repeatedly press SELECT to choose the automatic power-off time.
    Select from 1 to 9 minutes for the auto-off timer setting.

8.  Press (world symbol) to store the settings and return to the current
    time display.

Storage Capacity

Your organizer can store up to 9,789 units of information in its memory.  
Each letter, space, or other character you store uses up some of that 
memory capacity.

To view the amount of memory remaining at any time, press (memo sheet 
symbol) (MEMO), (schedule sheet symbol) (SCHED), or (telephone symbol) 
(TELE).  The display's second line show F followed by the number of 
available memory units.  The last ling shoes U followed by the number of 
memory units that you have used.

MEMORY FULL! briefly appears if not enough storage space is available.  
You must delete some records to free additional storage space (see 
"Deleting a Record" in Faxback Doc. # 51175).

Data Entry Tips

When you enter telephone directory, schedule alarm, memo pad, and to-do 
list records:

  User abbreviations to save memory space so you can store more records.

  Enter last names first because the telephone directory records are
  stored in alphabetical order.  If you enter a space or a number as the
  first character in a record, that record will appear before the regular
  alphabetical listings.

  Press the minus (-) key to enter hyphens in telephone and fax numbers.

  Press SPACE to enter a space.

  To correct an entry, press > or < to move the cursor to the character
  you want to change, then type the correct character over the old one.

  To insert a space before a character, move the cursor to that character,
  press SHIFT, then press INS (<).  INS appears.  Press SPACE.  To cancel
  the insert function so you can overtype characters again, press SHIFT,
  then press INS.  INS disappears.

  To delete a character, move the cursor to that character, press SHIFT
  then press DEL (>).

  To enter a special symbol in one of your records, press SMBL.  The first
  line of available symbols appears.  To view additional symbols, press \/
  or /\.  Press > or < to move the cursor to the symbol you want to use.
  Press ENTER and the symbol you selected appears at the cursor's last
  position.

Moving The Cursor

The cursor (_) appears when you enter a record and blinks where the next 
character will go.

When you edit records, the cursor blinks below the character you are 
currently editing.  Press > or < to move the cursor to the right or left 
along a text line, or press ENTER to move the cursor to the next line in 
the record.
