(650-0764) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 51173
Opening/Closing The Cover
The organizer's keys and display are protected by a cover to prevent damage
or unwanted input. To open the cover, press the tab on the front of the
organizer, then lift up the cover.
To close the cover, gently press it down until it latches.
Initializing The Organizer
You should initialize your organizer before you use it for the first time.
If you ever need to reset your organizer, because it is not functioning
properly or you cannot remember your security code, follow this same
procedure.
CAUTION: Initializing the organizer deletes all stored information!
Use a pointed object, such as a straightened paper clip, to press RESET.
RESET (Y/N)? flashes.
Note: If the RESET button gets stuck when you press it, the organizer
might not operate properly. Be sure the button returns to its original
position after you press it.
To reset the organizer, press Y.
The organizer's default settings are:
Date format: 1997 01, 01 (Y-M-D)
Hour format: 12-hour format
Automatic-off timer: 4 minutes
Currency exchange rate: All set to 1
Home City: LON (London)
Home city's clock: 1997-01-01 12:00 AM
All data memory: Cleared
To change these settings, see "Setting the Format and the Auto-Off Timer"
in Faxback Doc. # 51174, "Conversion" in Faxback Doc. # 51177, and "Setting
Your Home City's Date/Time Zone" in Faxback Doc. # 51175.
If you decide not to initialize the organizer, press N. The display
remains unchanged.
Notes: Do not press SHIFT then EDIT while RESET (Y/N)? is flashing. If
you do, the organizer performs a self-test, clears all data, and
stops all functions. Press RESET again then Y to restart the
organizer.
If your organizer does not work properly, try replacing both the
main battery and the backup battery one at a time (see "Replacing
the Batteries" in Faxback Doc. # 51178) before you resort to
initializing the organizer.
If your organizer is exposed to a strong static electrical charge,
and the display locks up or will not turn on, remove both the main
battery and the backup battery at the same time, then reinstall
them (see "Replacing the Batteries" in Faxback Doc. # 51178).
CAUTION: Removing both batteries at the same time deletes all stored
information!
