USING THE DAILY ALARM

You can set an alarm to sound at a set time of day. The alarm sounds for
20 seconds. To silence the alarm sooner, press any key.

Once you enter the daily alarm time, you can turn the alarm on so that it
sounds at the set time, or you can turn it off so that it does not sound.
An indicator appears on the display above ALARM if the daily alarm is
turned on.

Notes: If the daily alarm is turned on, it sounds at the set time even if
        the EC-336 is off.

Because pressing any key turns off the alarm, the alarm might not
sound if you are entering information at the alarm time.

SETTING THE DAILY ALARM

To set the daily alarm, do the following:

1. Press (TIME). The current date and time appear.

2. Press (TIME) again. ALARM and the current alarm time appear.

3. Press (SET).

4. Enter the alarm time.

5. When the desired alarm time is displayed, press (SET) to store the
    alarm time.

for the hour), the display returns to the previous alarm time
setting, and the cursor returns to the first hour digit.

TURNING THE DAILY ALARM ON OR OFF

Note: Turning the daily alarm on or off does not affect the schedule
       alarms.

To turn the daily alarm on or off, do the following:

1. Press (TIME) twice so that ALARM and the current daily alarm time
    appear.

2. Press and hold (music symbol) for about two seconds. The ALARM
    indicator appears or disappears.

USING THE DIRECTORY/MEMO FILE

You can enter and easily recall important phone numbers, memos, or other
information. Each record in the directory/memo file has two parts. In
the first part, you enter text, such as a person's or company's name for a
directory listing or any important information you want to store. In the
second part of each record, you store numeric information, such as a phone
number.

The first part of each record can hold up to 100 characters. The second
part of each record holds up to 64 characters. This includes spaces.

ENTERING A DIRECTORY/MEMO RECORD

Complete the following steps to enter each record in the directory/memo
file:

1. Press (STORE). ENTR MESSAGE and the amount of available storage
    appear.

2. Enter the person's or company's name or the information you want to
    store.

Press (SPACE) to enter a space. Press (ERASE) to erase the last
    character entered.

3. Press (STORE). ENTER TEL NO appears.

4. Enter the telephone number or any numeric information you want to
store. If you do not need to enter information in this part of the
    record, go to Step 5.

Press (SPACE) to enter a space. Press (-) to enter a dash. Press
(ERASE) to erase the last character entered.

Notes: If you leave this part of the record blank, you cannot add
information to it later. If you plan to enter the phone number
later, enter a dummy phone number using as many characters as
necessary. For example, for a long-distance number, enter 000-000
        0000.

For international long-distance phone numbers, press (.) to enter
the country code symbol (=), and press (=) to enter the city code
        symbol (three horizontal lines).

5. Press (STORE). The display shows WAIT and then the record you
    entered.

Notes: FULL appears on the display if no storage space is available.
Delete outdated directory/memo records or schedule alarms to free
additional storage space. See "Deleting a Directory/Memo Record"
or "Deleting a Schedule Alarm", below.

If you cannot see the entire record, press (SCR) to scroll to the
left one character at a time. Press and hold (SCR) to scroll
continuous; release (SCR) to stop scrolling.

To change the record, see "Editing a Directory/Memo Record" below.

RECALLING A DIRECTORY/MEMO RECORD

The directory/memo records are stored in alphabetical order. To recall a
directory/memo record, do the following:

    forward.

When NO FILE appears, press (RECALL) to begin scrolling forward from
    the first record.

4. When the desired directory/memo record appears, you might need to
scroll the display to the left so that you can see all of the record.

If so, press (SCR) to scroll one character to the left. Press and
hold (SCR) to scroll continuously; release (SCR) to stop scrolling.

EDITING A DIRECTORY/MEMO RECORD

Use the following steps to edit a directory/memo record.

Note: If you did not enter information in the second part of a record
when you created it, you cannot add that information. Also, you
cannot enter more characters in either part of a record than you
originally entered. for example, if you originally entered a seven
digit phone number, you cannot edit the record to include the area
code. To change a record in either of these ways, delete the
       record and re-enter it.

1. Recall the record you want to edit. See "Recalling a Directory/Memo
    Record" above.

2. Press (EDIT). The cursor appears below the first character of the
    record.

3. Press > or < to move the cursor to the character you want to change.

4. To replace a character, simply enter the correct character.

To delete a character, press (ERASE); the remaining characters shift
    to the left.

5. Press (STORE) to store the first part of the record.

6. If necessary, repeat Steps 3 and 4 to change the second part of the
    record.

7. Press (STORE). The display shows the corrected record.

DELETING A DIRECTORY/MEMO RECORD

To delete a directory/memo record, do the following:

1. Recall the record you want to delete. See "Recalling a Directory/Memo
    Record" above.

2. Press and hold (ERASE) for about five seconds. WAIT briefly appears,
and then NO FILE appears to show that the record is deleted.

USING SCHEDULE ALARMS

You can set schedule alarms to remind you of important events. For each
alarm, you must enter a reminder message. The message can be up to 100
characters long.

At the set time, the alarm sounds for 20 seconds and the corresponding
message appears. To silence the alarm sooner, press any key.

Notes: If the EC-336 is off, it automatically turns on at the schedule
        alarm time.

Because pressing any key turns off the alarm, the alarm might not
sound and the alarm message might not appear if you are entering
information at a schedule alarm time. Also, if the alarm message
displays while you are entering information, the information you
        entered might not be stored.

5. Press (STORE). ENTR MESSAGE and the date and time you entered appear
    on the display.

Note: If the information you enter is invalid (for example, you enter
15 for the month), the display returns to the previous date and
time setting, and the cursor returns to the date's first digit.

6. Enter the reminder message you want the display to show when the
    schedule alarm sounds.

Press (SPACE) to enter a space. Press (ERASE) to erase the last
    character entered.

Note: You must enter a message, or the schedule alarm is not set.

7. Press (STORE). The display shows the schedule alarm date, time, and
    message.

Notes: FULL appears on the display if no storage space is available.
Delete outdated directory/memo records or schedule alarm messages
to free additional storage space. See "Deleting a Directory/Memo
Record", above or "Deleting a Schedule Alarm" below.

If you cannot see the entire message, press (SCR) to scroll one
character to the left. Press and hold (SCR) to scroll
continuously; release (SCR) to stop scrolling.

To change the date, time, or message, see "Editing a Schedule
        Alarm" below.

alarm, do the following:

1. Press (ALARM). The earliest schedule alarm appears.

Note: If you have just entered a schedule alarm, the display shows
the alarm that follows the new one rather than showing the
           earliest schedule alarm.

2. To recall other schedule alarms, repeatedly press (ALARM) to scroll
    forward.

When NO FILE appears, press (ALARM) to begin scrolling forward from
    the earliest alarm.

3. When the desired schedule alarm appears, you might need to scroll the
display to the left so that you can see all of the message. If so,
press (SCR) to scroll one character to the left. Press and hold (SCR)
to scroll continuously; release (SCR) to stop scrolling.

EDITING A SCHEDULE ALARM

Note: You cannot enter more characters in a schedule alarm message than
you originally entered. To enter a message requiring more
characters, you must delete the schedule alarm and re-enter it.

To edit a schedule alarm, do the following:

1. Recall the schedule alarm you want to edit. See "Recalling a Schedule
    Alarm" above.

2. Press (EDIT). The alarm's date and time appear, and the cursor
appears below the date's first character.

Note: In a.m./p.m. format, the month comes first. In military
format, the day of the month comes first.

If the date and time are correct, but you want to change the message,
    go to Step 4.

3. To change the date or time, press > or < to move the cursor to the
digit you want to change. Then, enter the correct digit.

In the a.m./p.m. format, press (A) or (P) to change to a.m. or p.m.

    first character.

If the message is correct, go to Step 5.

To change the message, press > or < to move the cursor to the
character you want to change. To replace a character, simply enter
the correct character. To delete a character, press (ERASE); the
remaining characters shift to the left.

5. Press (STORE). The display shows the new alarm date, time, and
    message.

DELETING A SCHEDULE ALARM

To delete a schedule alarm, do the following:

1. Recall the schedule alarm you want to delete. See "Recalling a
    Schedule Alarm" above.

2. Press and hold (ERASE) for about five seconds. WAIT briefly appears,
and then NO FILE appears to show that the schedule alarm is deleted.

USING THE TIMER/STOPWATCH

You can use the timer to count down so that an alarm sounds at the end of
a set time. You can also use it to count up like a stopwatch, which lets
you measure the length of an event. The timer can count up or down for up
to 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds.

Notes: The EC-336 does not automatically turn off when the timer is
running. When the timer counts down to 00-00 00, it begins
counting down again from 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds.
When the timer counts up to 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds,
it begins counting up again from 00-00 00. To stop the timer,
        press (STOP) or (TIMER).

You cannot run the timer while using any other feature, because
pressing (TIME), (TIMER), (ALARM), (STORE), or (RECALL) stops the
timer and resets it to 00-00 00.

Follow these steps to use the count-down timer:

1. Press (TIMER). TIMER and 00-00 00 appear.

2. Press (SET). The cursor appears beneath the hour's first digit.

3. Enter the number of hours and minutes you want the timer to run before
it sounds. For example, if you want the alarm to sound in an hour and
    a half, enter 01-30.

Note: The minimum time you can set the timer for is 1 minute.

4. Press (SET) to store the displayed time.

Note: If you enter a number higher than 23 for the hours or 59 for
the minutes, the cursor returns to the first digit, and the
           display returns to 00-00.

5. Press (C.DN).

The timer begins counting down, and the display shows the remaining
time. At the end of the specified time, an alarm sounds for about 30
seconds. To silence the alarm sooner, press any key.

To temporarily stop the countdown, press (STOP). To continue the
countdown, press (C.DN). To stop the countdown and reset the display
    to 00-00, press (TIMER).

Follow these steps to use the timer as a stopwatch:

1. Press (TIMER). TIMER and 00-00 00 appear.

2. Press (C.UP). The timer begins counting up, and the display shows the
    elapsed time.

3. To temporarily stop the count, press (STOP). To continue the count,
press (C.UP). To stop the count and reset the display to 00-00, press
    (TIMER).

percent calculations.

Press (CALC) to begin using the calculator.

Press (ERASE) to cancel the last entry.

Press (ERASE) until 0. appears to clear the display for the next
  calculation.

Note: If the result of a calculation is more than 12 digits long, or if
you attempt to divide by 0, E (error) appears. If E appears,
press (ERASE) to clear the display.

STANDARD CALCULATIONS (+, -, x, /)

For standard calculations, press the keys in the order they appear in the
arithmetic operation. For example:

You press: You see.

3 + 4 = 7.

8 x 3 - 4 = 20.

MEMORY CALCULATIONS

The memory calculation feature lets you easily do multi-step calculations.

Use the following keys for memory calculations:

Press (MC) to clear the memory.

Press (M+) to add the result of a calculation to the value in memory.

Press (M-) to subtract the result from the value in memory.

Press (MR) to recall (display) the value in memory.

  For example:

    You press: You see:

    4 x 5 = M+ 20.

   28 + 2 = M+ 30.

    7 - 2 = M- 5.

   75 / 5 = M+ 15.

      MR 60.

Notes: M appears at the top of the display when you store a value in
memory. M disappears when you clear the memory.

You cannot store the results of percent calculations in memory.

The memory is cleared when you press (CALC), when you use any
feature other than the calculator, and when the EC-336 turns off.

PERCENT CALCULATIONS

Do percent calculations as shown in the following examples:

To calculate: You press: You see:

    What is 12% of 150? 150 x 12 % 18.

    What percentage of 880 is 660? 660 / 880% 75.

    What is 15% discounted from 82? 82 - 15 % 69.7

    Add 8 % to 65? 65 + 8 % 70.2
