Replacing the Battery

The EC-355 uses a CR2016, 3-volt, lithium battery, such as RadioShack Cat.
No. 23-160.

WARNINGS: Never let children play with the battery.  Swallowing a lithium
          battery could be fatal.

          To avoid risk of explosion, do not recharge, open, or heat a
          lithium battery or dispose of it in fire.

When the display becomes dim, follow these steps to replace the battery.

CAUTIONS: Have a fresh battery on hand before you begin.  You must install
          the new battery within 20 seconds after removing the old one, or
          you lose the information stored in the EC-355.

          To prevent losing the information stored in the EC-355, do not
          press any button while replacing the battery.

1.  Press [OFF] to turn off the EC-355, or press [TIME] to display the
    current date and time.

2.  Remove the battery compartment cover by sliding it in the direction of
    the arrow.

3.  Use a pointed object, such as the end of a straightened paper clip, to
    remove the old battery.

4.  Install the fresh battery with its positive (+) side facing up.

5.  Replace the battery compartment cover.

After replacing the battery, you must re-enter the current date and time
and the daily alarm time.  You also need to turn on the key tone/hourly
chime and the daily alarm, if desired.

Note:  To prevent battery leakage, replace the battery at least once every
       5 years.
