REPLACING THE BATTERY
The EC-336 uses a CR2032, 3-volt, lithium battery, such as RadioShack Cat.
No. 23-162.
WARNING: Never let children play with the battery. Swallowing a lithium
battery could be fatal. To avoid risk of explosion, do not
recharge, open, or heat a lithium battery or dispose of in fire.
When the display becomes dim, replace the battery as follows:
CAUTIONS: Have a fresh battery on hand before you begin. You must
install the new battery within 20 seconds after removing the
old one, or you will lose the information stored in the EC-336.
To prevent losing the information stored in the EC-336, do not
press any button while replacing the battery.
1. Wait until the EC-336 is turned off, or press (TIME) to display the
current date and time.
2. Remove the battery compartment cover by sliding it in the direction of
the arrow.
3. Use a pointed object, such as the end of a straightened paper clip, to
remove the old battery.
4. Install the fresh battery with its positive (+) side up.
5. Replace the battery compartment cover.
After replacing the battery, you must re-enter the current date and time
and the daily alarm time. You will also need to turn on the key tone and
hourly chime and the daily alarm, if desired.
RESETTING THE EC-336
If the EC-336 is not working properly, use a pointed object, such as the
end of a straightened paper clip, to press the (RESET) button on the back
of the EC-336.
If the EC-336 still does not work properly, replace the battery and press
(RESET) again.
The directory/memo records and the schedule alarms remain in memory after
you reset the EC-336. However, you must re-enter the current date and
time and the daily alarm time. Resetting the EC-336 also turns off the
key tone and hourly chime and the daily alarm, so turn these on if
desired.
In addition, you might need to re-enter any information you were entering
just before you reset the EC-336.
MAINTENANCE
Your RadioShack EC-336 is an example of superior design and craftsmanship.
The following suggestions will help you care for the EC-336 so that you
can enjoy it for years.
Keep the EC-336 dry. If it does get wet, wipe it dry immediately.
Liquids might contain minerals that can corrode the electronic circuits.
Use and store the EC-336 only in normal temperature environments, and
avoid sudden temperature changes. Temperature extremes can shorten the
life of electronic devices, damage batteries, and distort or melt
plastic parts.
At very low temperatures, the display's response time might slow down or
the display might fail completely. This is only temporary. The EC-336
works normally again when it returns to normal temperature.
Handle the EC-336 gently and carefully. Dropping it can damage the
circuit boards and can cause the EC-336 to work improperly.
Keep the EC-336 away from dust and dirt, which can cause premature wear
of parts.
Wipe the EC-336 with a dampened cloth occasionally to keep the product
looking new. Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong
detergents to clean the EC-336.
Use only a fresh battery of the recommended size and type. Always
remove an old or weak battery. It can leak chemicals that can destroy
electronic circuits.
To prevent battery leakage, replace the battery at least once every five
years.
Note: If the EC-336 is exposed to strong static electrical charges, the
display might become dim or the EC-336 might fail to respond. This
rarely happens, but if it does, reset the EC-336; see "Resetting
the EC-336", above.
Modifying or tampering with the EC-336's internal components can cause a
malfunction and might invalidate its warranty. If the EC-336 is not
performing as it should, take it your local RadioShack store where our
personnel can assist you.
