MEMOS

Making Memos

  Hold down the RECORD button.

  Say "Call Terry."  [your memo here.]

  Release the RECORD button.  The time/date stamp and memo number display
  briefly.

    Or...

  Press the RECORD button quickly to initiate the recording.

  Say [your memo here.]

  Press the RECORD button to end the recording.

Extended Record Time

  Hold down the EDIT button until you hear the double beep.

  Press the EDIT button to display the current recording speed, SP for
  standard recording time or EP for extended recording time.

  Hold down the EDIT button until you hear the double beep and see the
  recording speed flashing.

  Press the (>) button to change recording speed.

  Press the SAVE button to save your setting.

Note:  You may notice a difference in the sound quality of recordings made
       in SP mode and those made in EP mode.

Playing Memos

  Press (/\) to hear your most recent memo.  Press (<) to play your next
  most recent memo, or (>) to play your oldest memo.

Scanning Memos

You can quickly scan through your recordings by automatically playing the
first few seconds of each recording.

  Hold down the (>) button until you hear the double beep when you are at
  the beginning of a memo or when the clock is displayed.

  Press STOP ([]) to discontinue playback.

Playing All Memos

You can listen to all of your memos play continuously with the press of a
single button.

  Hold down (/\) until you hear the double beep.  All memos play in the
  order you recorded them.

  Press STOP ([]) to discontinue playback.

HINT:  You can use (<) or (>) to skip to the beginning of the next memo
       during either regular or continuous playback.

Volume Control

  Press the EDIT button while playing back memos or when the clock is
  displayed to increase the volume.  The volume increases one step each
  time the EDIT button is pressed.  There are 5 steps.

  Press the TRAIN button while playing back memos or when the clock is
  displayed to decrease the volume.  The volume decreases one step each
  time the EDIT button is pressed.  There are 5 steps.

Erasing Memos

To be sure you're erasing the right memo, play it first.

  Hold down the ERASE button until you hear the double beep.

CALENDAR

Entering Appointments in Your Calendar

To set an appointment, you'll first record a memo and then add a time and
date to it.  Practice several of the examples below.

If your appointment is 7:00 p.m., today...(on the hour, later today)...

  Hold down the RECORD button.

  Say "Chamber of Commerce." [your memo here.]

  Release the RECORD button.

  Hold down the CALENDAR button.

  Say 7.

  Say p.m. [the hour and a.m. or p.m., not 7 o'clock.]

  Release the CALENDAR button.

Note:  Watch the display, the blinking field suggests what to say next.

If your appointment is within a week...

  Say the hour.

  Say the quarter hour, if applicable (15, 30, 45).

  Say a.m. or p.m.

  Say the day (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, etc.).

Note:  The Voice Organizer knows the time only in hours, half hours and
       quarter hours (e.g. 1 p.m., 1:15 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 1:45 p.m.)

If your appointment is 8:45 a.m., January 15 (a specific date)...

  Hold down the RECORD button.

  Say "Meet trainer at the gym." [your memo here.]

  Release the RECORD button.

  Hold down the CALENDAR button.

  Say 8.

  Say 45.

  Say a.m..

  Say 1.

  Say 1.

  Say 5.

  Release the CALENDAR button.

Note:  Say the day as single digits, e.g. one-five, not fifteen.

Note:  The calendar reaches one year into the future.

HINT:  If your Voice Organizer enters the wrong time, say "No."  It will
       change it.  If it is still wrong, say "No" again, and your Voice
       Organizer will prompt you to "REPEAT" it.

Recurring Appointments

To set a recurring appointment.  Record your memo, then add the word
"recurring" at the end of your time and date recording.  You can set
daily, weekly monthly and yearly appointments.

  Hold down the RECORD button.

  Say "Check voice mail." [your memo here.]

  Release the RECORD button.

  Hold down the CALENDAR button.

  Say 12.

  Say p.m.

  Say "Recurring."  The word "DAILY" appears on the display along with the
  double bell for recurring appointments.

  Release the CALENDAR button.  The word "DAILY" flashes.

  Press (>) to cycle through the daily, weekly, monthly and yearly
  options, stopping on your choice.

  Press the SAVE button to store your recurring appointment.  Your Voice
  Organizer will alert you regularly at the time you set.

Changing Appointments by Voice

  Find the appointment you want to change.  (See section titled "Playing
  Appointments Before you're Beeped.")

  Press the EDIT button.

  Hold down the CALENDAR button.

  Say [the  new appointment time (and day, if desired).]

  Release the CALENDAR button.

HINT:  If you're in a noisy place when you want to set an appointment,
       simply record a memo.  Later, sit down in a quiet place, play your
       memo, then hold down the Calendar button and say the time for the
       appointment.  Use this technique to turn any memo into an
       appointment.

Changing Appointments Manually

You can change the time or period of recurrence for any appointment by
hand.

  Find the appointment you want to change.  (See section titled "Playing
  Appointments Before You're Beeped", above.)

  Press the EDIT button.  The hour flashes.

  Press (<) or (>) to change the hour.

  Press the (/\) button to move to the next field you want to change,
  including daily, weekly, monthly, yearly or playback (one time play).

  Press (<) or (>) to scroll to your desired change.

  Press the SAVE button to store your changes or STOP ([])to quit without
  saving.

Reviewing Appointments in your Calendar

Playing Appointments When You're Beeped

When an appointment time arrives, your Voice Organizer will alert you by
beeping and flashing the word "MESSAGE."  If you don't play your message
right away, your Voice Organizer will continue to beep.

Press (/\) to listen to your appointment.

Once you have listened to a message:

  You can let your Voice Organizer automatically delete it.

  You can store it as a memo by pressing SAVE.

  You can set a new time by holding down the CALENDAR button and saying
  the new time.

Hint:  To stop the beeping and postpone listening to an appointment, press
       the Stop A Button to defer the alert for 15 minutes.

Archiving Appointments

After an appointment has come due and you have played it, it will
automatically erase (to save memory) unless it is saved.  To save the
appointment press SAVE after listening to it. Then, you can easily archive
it by setting up one of your files as Archive and placing the appointment
message in it.  (See Files below to learn how to set up your file and move
your appointment messages.)

Playing Appointments Before You're Beeped

You can preview appointments by a day of the week, for example "Tuesday."
or by a specific date, such as 7/6.

  Hold down the CALENDAR button.  Your total scheduled appointments
  appears on the left under the bell.

  Say the day or date you want to review, such as "Tuesday" or "seven-six"
  for 7/6.]  The number of appointments for that day appears under the
  bell.

  Release the CALENDAR button.

  Press (/\) to play the first appointment.

  Press (>) to play the next appointment.

                  To go to the next date with appointments...

  Press the CALENDAR button to advance to the next date that has
  appointments scheduled.

  Press (/\) or (>) to listen to them.

  Press the STOP ([]) button twice to return to today's date and time
  display.

Deleting Appointments Before you're Beeped

  Find the appointment you want to remove.

  Hold down the ERASE button until you hear the double beep.  The unit
  displays "ERASING" briefly.

PHONE BOOK

Entering a Number in the Phone Book

  Press the PHONE button repeatedly to step to the desired alphabetic
  section.

  Hold down the EDIT button until you hear the double beep.

  Release the EDIT button.  "NAME" appears on the display.

  Hold down the PHONE button.

  Say [the person's name] repeating it as prompted.  Keep holding the
  phone button while you...

  Say [the phone number] one digit at a time, pausing between digits.  If
  your Voice Organizer enters the wrong number, say "No."  It will change
  the number: If it's still wrong, say "No" again, and you'll be given the
  opportunity to "REPEAT" the correct number.

  Release the PHONE button.

  Press the SAVE button.

  Press (>) to tag the number as business, home, fax, cell, pager or other
  number. (b, H, F, C, P, O)

  Press SAVE to store your entry.

Note:  Be sure to say the name all at once without pausing between the
       first and last name.

HINT:  You may press the ERASE button to back up during number entry. Then
       hold down the PHONE button again to continue speaking.

Retrieving a Number from the Phone Book

  Press the PHONE button repeatedly to select the desired alphabetical
  section.

  Hold down the PHONE button.

  Say "Doctor Rogers." [the name of the person whose number you want.]
  The name will play aloud for confirmation and the phone number will
  appear on the screen.

  Release the PHONE button.

  Hold down (/\) until the double beep to hear the number aloud.

  Press (>) to see the next number.

Changing a Person's Phone Number

  Hold down the PHONE button.

  Say "Doctor Rogers."  [the name of the person whose number you want to
  change.]

  Release the PHONE button.

  Press the EDIT button for one beep.

  Press (/\) to advance to the digit you need to change.

  Press (<) or (>) to change the digit.

  Press the SAVE button.

Retraining a Person's Name in the Directory

  Hold down the PHONE button.

  Say "Doctor Rogers." [the name of the person for whom you
                  wish to add a number.]

  Release the PHONE button.

  Press the EDIT button.

  Hold down the PHONE button.

  Say [the person's name] repeating it as prompted.

  Release the PHONE button.

Adding a Phone Number to a Name in the Directory

  Hold down the PHONE button.

  Say "Doctor Rogers."  [the name of the person for whom you wish to add a
  number.]

  Release the PHONE button.

  Hold down the EDIT button for a double beep.

  Hold down the PHONE button.

  Say [the phone number] one digit at a time, pausing between digits.

  Release the PHONE button.

  Press the SAVE button.

  Press (>) to tag the number as business, home, fax, cell, pager or other
  number.

  Press SAVE to store your entry.

Erasing a Person's Phone Number

  Hold down the PHONE button.

  Say "Doctor Rogers."  [the name of the person whose name and number you
  want to erase.]

  Hold down the ERASE button until you hear the double beep and see
  "DELETED" on the screen.

TIMERS

Timers can be set to alert you in a certain amount of time from now, such
as in 20 minutes, rather than at a clock time.

Setting a Timer by Voice

  Hold down the RECORD button.

  Say "Return Michele's call." [your memo here.]

  Release the RECORD button.

  Hold down the CALENDAR button.

  Say "Timer."  Keep holding the CALENDAR button while you...

  Say 2.

  Say Hours.

  Say 3.

  Say 0.

  Say "Minutes."  The display will confirm "PLAY IN" and show the amount
  of time remaining.

  Release the CALENDAR button.

Note:  Timers can also be made "recurring."

FILES

Setting Up Files

You can set up 20 custom "files" to help you keep your memos organized,
such as "to do," "people to call," "customers," "assignments," "orders"
and "projects."

  Press STOP ([]) to be sure you're at the current time and date display.

  Press the FILES button.  The display shows "FILE 1 OPEN."

  Hold down the EDIT button until you hear the double beep.  The display
  shows "SAY FILE."

  Hold Down the FILES button.

  Say "To do." [the name of your new file, repeating it as prompted by the
  display.]

To set up another file...

  Hold down the EDIT button for a double beep.  The display briefly shows
  "FILE OPEN" and the number of this file then shows "SAY FILE."

  Hold down The FILES button.

  Say [the name of your new file.]

Filing a Memo

  Record a memo, or find one.

  Hold down the FILES button.

  Say [the name of the file folder in which you wish to store the memo.]
  The memo will now be stored in the file.

Shortcut: Ask for your file before you record your memo.  The memo will be
          saved in the file you asked for.

Playing a Filed Memo

  Hold down the FILES button.

  Say [the name of the file folder storing your memo.]  The name plays
  back for confirmation.

  Press (/\) to hear your filed memo.

  Press (<) or (>) to scroll to another memo in the same file.

  Press STOP ([]) to return to the basic clock display.

Note:  To change the volume when playing back filed memos follow the same
       instructions for volume control above.

Moving a Filed Memo

  Find the memo you want to move.  Play at least a portion of it to
  confirm your selection.

  Hold down the EDIT button until you hear the double beep.

  Hold down the FILES button.

  Say [the name of the file you're moving the memo to.]

Erasing All Memos in a File

  Hold down the FILES button.

  Say [the name of the file folder you wish to empty.]  The name plays
  back for confirmation.

  Hold down the ERASE button until you hear the double beep.  The display
  prompts "ERASE ALL."

  Press ERASE to confirm your choice or press STOP ([]) to cancel the
  erase command.

WARNING:  If the file is already empty, the above procedure will erase the
          file name.

Changing File Names

  Press the FILES button.

  Hold down the EDIT button until you hear the double beep.

  Press (>) to select the file name you want to change.

  Hold down the FILES button and say the new name, repeating as prompted.

  Release the FILES button.

Deleting File Names

  Hold down the FILES button.

  Say [the name of the file folder you wish to delete.]

  Release the FILES button.

  Hold down the ERASE button until you hear the double beep.  The display
  prompts "DEL FILE."

  Press ERASE to confirm your choice or press STOP ([]) to cancel.

Note:  The file must be empty before you delete it.
