To enjoy your RadioShack EC-288 3K Electronic Organizer with Paper Planner
for a long time.
Keep the EC-288 dry. If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately.
Use and store the EC-288 only in normal temperature environments.
Note: At very low temperatures, the display's response time might slow
down or it might fail completely. This is only temporary. Your
EC-288 returns to normal operation at warmer temperatures.
Handle the EC-288 gently and carefully. Don't drop it.
Keep the EC-288 away from dust and dirt.
Wipe the EC-288 with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it looking new.
Modifying or tampering with your EC-288's internal components can cause a
malfunction and invalidate the organizer's warranty. If your EC-288 is
not performing as it should, take it to your local RadioShack store for
assistance.
REPLACING THE BATTERIES
Your EC-288 is powered by one 3-volt CR2025 lithium battery (RadioShack
Cat. No. 230-0161), and is backed up by one 3-volt CR2016 lithium battery
(Cat. No. 230-0160).
When the EC-288's display dims or stops working properly, replace the
supplied main battery. Replace the supplied backup battery after about
3 years of operation.
The battery compartments are on the back of the EC-288 away from its
magnetic binder.
WARNINGS: Keep batteries out of reach of children. Swallowing a lithium
battery can be fatal.
Always dispose of an old battery promptly and properly. Do not
burn or bury it.
CAUTIONS: Always use a fresh battery of the required size and type.
To avoid losing the information stored in your EC-288, do not
remove both batteries at the same time, and do not press any
buttons while you replace a battery.
Replacing the Main Battery
1. Slide the ribbed edge of the battery holder in the direction of the
arrow. (as shown here) to remove the holder from the battery
compartment.
2. Remove the old battery and insert the new one with the positive
(+) side facing up.
CAUTION: If the battery is upside-down, the EC-288 will not turn on
and everything stored in memory will be lost when you insert
the battery holder into the battery compartment.
3. Slide the battery holder back into the compartment and snap it into
place.
Replacing the Backup Battery
1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw on the back of the
EC-288.
2. Remove the main battery holder.
3. With one thumb in the main battery compartment notch and your other
thumb near the other end of the organizer's top edge, hold the EC-288
firmly and slide the back cover in the direction of the arrow.
4. Replace the main battery holder. Be sure the battery is pressed
firmly in place so stored information is not lost when you remove the
backup battery.
5. Remove the polarity sticker from the backup battery, then set the
sticker aside.
6. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove one of the screws from the
tension bar holding the backup battery in place.
7. Slide the tension bar to one side then gently lift out the backup
battery.
8. Insert the new battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
9. Slide the tension bar back in place over the backup battery. Then
reinsert and tighten the screw in the tension bar and place the
polarity sticker over the backup battery.
10. Remove the main battery holder again and slide on the back cover.
Replace the screw.
11. Replace the main battery holder.
