Turning The Organizer On and Off
Press ON to turn on the organizer and press OFF to turn it off.
Note: To conserve battery power, the organizer automatically turns off if
you do not press a key for about 4 minutes.
Turning The Key Tone On and Off
Your organizer comes preset to sound a tone each time you press a key.
Musical Note (symbol) appears when the key tone is on.
To turn off the key tone, press TIME/ALARM, then press the music note
again. The Musical Note disappears.
To turn the key tone back on, press TIME/ALARM, then press the music note.
A beep sounds and the musical note reappears.
Setting The Date and Time
1. Press TIME/ALARM.
2. Hold down SET until the first digit in the year flashes (about 2
seconds).
3. Press < or > to move to the digit you want to change, then use the
number keys to enter the year, month, day, hour and minute.
Notes: If you make a mistake, press < or > to move forward or
backward to the digit you want to change, then enter the
correct digit.
In the 12-hour format, press AM/PM (the M key) to set the time
to AM or PM. A or P appears.
After you store the setting in Step 4, you can press 12/24 to
change the time to the 12 or 24 hour format.
4. Press STORE to store the setting.
Note: If the information you enter is invalid (for example, you enter 15
for the month), the first digit of the year flashes after you press
STORE. Press < or > to move forward or backward to the digit you
want to change, re enter the correct digit, then press STORE again.
Phone Directory
You can store a name (up to 36 characters) and two telephone numbers (up
to 28 digits each) for each of your contacts, and use the autodial feature
to dial either number automatically. (See "Dialing Numbers" below.)
Entering a Phone Directory Record
1. Press RECALL. NAME?, the percentage of memory left, and the number of
available memory units appear.
2. Enter the contact's name.
Note: Since records are stored in alphabetical order, we recommend
you enter the contact's last name first.
3. Press STORE. Enter the first phone number.
Note: You can press SPACE or - to enter a brief pause in a number.
The tone dialer will pause at this point when dialing.
4. Press STORE. Enter the second phone number.
5. Press STORE to store the record. > appears next to the first phone
number.
Note: Repeat Steps 2 - 5 to enter the next record.
6. Press TIME/ALARM to return to the date and time display.
Recalling a Phone Directory Record
You can recall a phone directory record by contact name, or by the last
few digits of stored phone numbers.
By Contact Name
Press RECALL to enter the directory.
Press /\ or \/ to scroll through the names.
Or, type the first few characters of the desired contact's name and press
\/. The first record that begins with the characters you entered appears.
Note: If no matching record is found, NOT FOUND appears briefly.
By Phone Number
1. Press RECALL to enter the directory.
2. Press SEARCH MODE to change to PAGER ID (number) searching.
3. Type the last few digits (up to 8) of the phone/fax number you want
to find.
4. Press /\ or \/ to search. The first record with a phone number that
ends with the digits you entered appears.
If no matching record is found, NOT FOUND appears briefly.
Editing a Phone Directory Record
1. Recall the record you want to edit.
2. Press EDIT. Input appears and the first character of the contact's
name and the cursor flash.
3. Use the arrow keys to move the cursor to the character or digit you
want to change.
To change a character, simply type the correct character.
To add a character, press INS so a space appears. Then enter the
character.
To delete a character, press ERASE.
4. When you finish editing, press STORE to store the change. A flashing
cursor appears on the first digit in the first phone number.
5. Repeat Steps 3 - 4 to edit the phone numbers.
Deleting a Phone Directory Record
1. Recall the record you want to delete.
2. Press ERASE. DELETE? Y/N appears.
3. If you are sure, press Y. The entire directory record is deleted.
Otherwise, press N. The record remains unchanged.
Daily Alarm
You can set an alarm to sound at a set time of day. When the daily alarm
is turned on, a tone sounds for about 30 seconds at the set time.
If the organizer is off at the alarm time, the organizer turns on and
sounds the alarm.
Press any key to silence the alarm.
Note: Because pressing any key turns off the alarm, the alarm might not
sound if you are entering information precisely at the alarm time.
Setting The Alarm Time
1. Repeatedly press TIME/ALARM until ALARM appears.
2. Hold down SET until the first hour digit flashes.
3. Use the number keys to enter the alarm hour and minute.
Notes: If you make a mistake, press < or > to move forward or
backward to the digit you want to change, then enter the
correct digit.
In the 12 hour format, press AM/PM to set the alarm time to AM
or PM. A or P appears.
4. Press STORE to store the alarm time setting. (Symbol) appears and the
alarm is set to sound.
5. Press TIME/ALARM to return to the current date and time display.
Turning The Alarm On/Off
1. Press TIME/ALARM twice. ALARM appears.
2. Press INS to turn the alarm on (symbol) appears at the top of the
display when the alarm is set to sound. Press INS again to turn the
alarm off. (symbol) disappears.
Note: Turning the daily alarm on or off does not affect the schedule
alarms.
Schedule Alarms
Schedule alarms help you stay in control of your busy schedule by
reminding you of meetings and other important events.
For each schedule alarm, you can enter a message of up to 36 characters.
At the set alarm time, the alarm sounds for 30 seconds and your stored
message appears.
If the organizer is off at the alarm time, the organizer turns on, sounds
the alarm, and displays the alarm message.
To silence the alarm, press any key.
Note: Because pressing any key turns off the alarm, the alarm might not
sound if you are entering information precisely at the alarm time.
Storing A Schedule Alarm
1. Press SCH. SCH?, the percentage of memory left, and the number of
available memory units appear.
2. Enter the alarm date (year, month, day) and time.
Note: In the 12 hour format, press AM/PM for an AM or PM time. A or
P appears.
3. Press STORE. A cursor flashes at the first space for the message.
4. Type in the message.
5. Press STORE. The schedule alarm is set.
6. Repeat Steps 2 - 5 to enter the next schedule alarm.
Recalling a Schedule Alarm
1. Press SCH.
2. Press \/ to view the next record scheduled to sound.
3. Press /\ to view the next record in chronological order, or \/ to view
the previously record.
Editing a Schedule Alarm
1. Recall the schedule alarm you want to edit.
2. Press EDIT. The first digit of the year and a cursor flash. Use the
arrow keys to move to the digit you want to change, then enter the
correct digit.
3. Press STORE. The first character of the message and a cursor flash.
Use the arrow keys to move to the character you want to change, then
enter the correct character.
4. Press STORE again to save your change.
Deleting a Schedule Alarm
Schedule alarm records are not deleted automatically after they sound.
You must delete outdated records to free memory.
1. Recall the schedule alarm you want to delete.
2. Press ERASE. DELETE? Y/N appears.
3. Press Y to confirm. The schedule alarm record is deleted. Otherwise,
press N. The record remains unchanged.
Memo Function
You can use the memo function to record a note or reminder (up to 60
characters) so you can refer to it later.
Entering a Memo Record
1. Press MEMO. MEMO?, the percentage of memory left and the number of
available memory units appear.
2. Enter your memo.
3. Press STORE to store the memo.
Recalling a Memo Record
You can recall a memo record using sequential or direct search. Memo
records are stored in the order in which they are entered.
Sequential Search
1. Press MEMO.
2. Press \/ to view the first memo record.
3. Press /\ or \/ to scroll up or down through the memo records.
Direct Search
1. Press MEMO.
2. Type the first few characters of the desired memo record.
3. Press \/ to recall the first memo record that begins with the
characters you typed.
Note: If no matching record is found, NOT FOUND briefly appears.
4. Press /\ or \/ to scroll up or down through the memo records.
Editing a Memo Record
1. Recall the memo record you want to edit.
2. Press EDIT. A flashing cursor appears on the first character of the
display.
3. Use the arrow keys to move the cursor to the character you want to
change then enter the correct characters.
4. Press STORE to save the change.
Deleting a Memo Record
1. Recall the memo record you want to delete.
2. Press ERASE, DELETE. Y/N? appears.
3. Press Y to confirm. The entire memo record is deleted. Otherwise,
press N. The record remains unchanged.
Timer Function
You can use the timer to count up like a stopwatch, which lets you measure
the length of an event. You can also use it to count down so an alarm
sounds at the end of a set time. The timer can count up or down for up to
24 hours.
Using The Count Up Timer
1. Press TIMER. COUNT UP and 00-00-00 appear.
2. Press START/STOP. The timer begins counting up, and the display shows
the elapsed time in hours, minutes, and seconds.
3. To stop the count, press START/STOP. To continue the count, press
START/STOP again.
To reset the timer, press START/STOP then C/CE.
Using The Count Down Timer
1. Press TIMER. COUNT UP and 00-00-00 appear.
2. Press SET. The cursor and the hour's first digit flash.
3. Enter the number of hours and minutes you want the timer to run before
the alarm sounds.
Note: If you do not set a count-down time, the timer begins counting
down from 00-00-00.
4. Press STORE to store the displayed time.
5. Press C.DN. COUNT DOWN appears.
6. Press START/STOP. The timer begins counting down, and the display
shows the remaining time. When the displayed time reaches 00-00-00,
an alarm sounds for about 30 seconds.
Notes: To temporarily stop the count-down, press START/STOP. To
continue the count-down, press START/STOP again.
To reset the TIMER to the previous count-down time (or
00-00-00, if no count-down time was set) press START/STOP,
then press C/CE.
If the organizer is off at the alarm time, the organizer turns
on and sounds the alarm.
To silence the alarm, press any key.
To count up after counting down, press START/STOP then C.UP.
Dialing Numbers
If you have touch-tone telephone service, the organizer can dial a phone
number stored in any phone directory record for you, or you can use it to
manually dial any number you want.
Auto Dialing
1. Recall the phone directory record containing the number you want to
dial. Use < or > to select which phone number you want to dial. An
arrow appears next to the number you selected.
2. Hold the organizers speaker (on the back of the organizer) firmly
against the telephone receiver's mouthpiece.
3. Press DIAL. Hold the organizer in place until dialing is complete and
MANUAL DIAL appears.
Note: If you are calling a computer based telephone system, you can
access the desired services by pressing the corresponding
numbers on the organizer.
If you want to call another number, press DIAL. DIAL NO? appears. Enter
the number and press STORE. The dialer stores the number in REDIAL memory
and dials the number.
Redial
Your organizer automatically saves the last 10 phone numbers you dialed.
Follow these steps to redial any of these numbers.
1. Press REDIAL. REDIAL and the last two dialed phone numbers appear.
2. Press /\ and \/ to scroll through the last 10 phone numbers you
dialed to find the number you want to dial.
3. Hold the organizer's speaker firmly against the telephone receiver's
mouthpiece.
4. Press DIAL to dial the selected number.
The Calculator
1. Press CALC. CALC appears.
2. Press the keys in the order they appear in the arithmetic operation.
Notes: Press C/CE to cancel the entry.
If the result of a calculation is more than 12 digits long, or
if you divide any number by 0, E (Error) appears. Press C/CE
to clear the error.
Memory Calculations
Press MC to clear the memory.
Press M+ to add the result of a calculation to the value in memory.
Press M- to subtract the result of a calculation from the value in the
memory.
Press MR to recall the value in memory.
Notes: M appears when memory is stored.
The memory is cleared when you use another mode.
Currency Converter
The organizer lets you convert between US dollars and three other
currencies.
Setting The Exchange Rates
1. Press CALC, then press EX SET (exchange set). RATE appears.
2. Enter the rate for that currency.
For example, if an English pound is worth 1.5 dollars, enter 1.5.
3. Press either EX1, EX 2 or EX3 to store the rate.
Converting Currency
To convert an amount, press CALC, enter the amount in US dollars, then
press EX1, EX2, or EX3.
To convert from another CURRENCY to dollars, press EX. REV. before
entering the amount.
For example, if the exchange rate for English pounds stored in EX1 is 1.5,
find out the equivalent of $369.20 in pounds by entering 369.2, then
pressing EX1, 553.8 appears.
To reverse the conversion, press EX. REV., enter 553..8, then press EX1,
369.2 appears.
Account Manager
The account manager helps you track the current balances of up to three
different bank accounts.
1. Press CALC, then ACCT. ACCOUNT appears.
2. Press B1, B2, or B3 to select Bank 1, Bank 2, or Bank 3, or press C1,
C2, or C3 to select Card 1, Card 2, or Card 3.
3. To record a deposit, enter the amount, then press DEP.
For example, to record a $200 deposit in the first bank account, press
B1, enter 200, then press DEP. 200 appears and is stored in B1.
To record a withdrawal, enter the amount, then press WHD.
For example, to record a $500 withdrawal from the first bank account,
press B1, enter 500, and press WHD. -300 appears.
Press ACCT to view the current balance of all accounts.
Security Code
You can set a security code to protect the information you store in the
organizer from unauthorized access. Follow these steps to set a 4 digit
code.
Note: Make sure you choose a code you can remember. If you forget the
code, you must reset the organizer. This deletes all stored
information.
1. Press TIME/ALARM then LOCK.
2. Type 4 digits.
3. Press STORE. (key symbol) appears.
4. Press RECALL. LOCKED appears.
To unlock the organizer, enter the 4-digit security code. The organizer
automatically locks itself when it turns off.
If you forget your security code, see "Resetting" below.
Resetting
If your organizer is exposed to a strong static electrical charge, the
organizer might lock up or the display might dim. If this happens, or if
you forget your security code, reset the organizer.
CAUTION: This procedure deletes all stored information.
Use a pointed object (such as a straightened paper clip) to press RESET on
the bottom of the organizer, RESET? Y/N appears.
Press Y. All the data stored in the organizer's memory is cleared. You
must re-enter the key tone, current date and time, daily alarm time, and
the daily alarm.
Otherwise, press N to keep the data stored in the organizer's memory.
