You can send or receive records from TEL (1), TEL (2), MEMO, or SCHEDULE
to/from another organizer using an optional data communication cable
(RadioShack Cat. NO. 65-137, available through your local RadioShack
store).

Note:  You can only transfer records between two EC-394s, two EC-399s, or
       an EC-394 and an EC399.  You might be able to send to and receive
       from other organizers, but the correct results cannot be guaranteed.

Connecting Two Organizers

1. Turn off both organizers.

2. Remove the covers from the DATA jacks on both organizers.

3. Connect the two organizers with the data communication cable.  Be sure
   to insert the plugs firmly into the organizers' DATA jacks.

4. Turn on both organizers.

Receiving

1. At the main menu or a record display, press SHIFT, then press /\/
   COMMUNICATION.

2. Press \/ to highlight RECEIVE DATA.  Then press EXE.

The message appears on the display, indicating that the unit is ready to
receive data.  Start sending data from the other organizer.

If the unit does not receive data properly, RECEIVE ERROR! appears.

To cancel the receive operation at any time, press ON/ESC.

Sending

You can send a single record, all records stored in one directory, or all
records stored in all directories.

To send a single record:

1. From the main menu, select the icon of the desired function.  The
   information screen for the function you selected appears.

2. Recall the record you want to send.

3. Press SHIFT, then /\/COMMUNICATION.

4. Use /\ or \/ to highlight SEND DATA, then press EXE. SEND OK Y/N 
   appears.

5. To start the send operation, press Y.

   To cancel the operation without sending the record, press N.

To send all records in a directory:

1. From the main menu, select the icon of the desired function.

2. Press SHIFT, then /\/COMMUNICATION.

3. Use /\ or \/ to highlight SEND DATA, then press EXE.

4. Use /\ or \/ to highlight MODE DATA, then press EXE.

5. Use /\ or \/ to highlight the desired mode, then press EXE.
   SEND OK Y/N appears.

6. To start the send operation press Y.

   To cancel the operation without sending data, press N.

To send all records in the organizer:

1. From the main menu, select the icon of the desired function.

2. Press SHIFT, then /\/COMMUNICATION.

3. Use /\ or \/ to highlight SEND DATA, then press EXE.

4. Use /\ or \/ to highlight ALL DATA, then press EXE. SEND OK Y/N 
   appears.

5. To start the send operation press Y.

   To cancel the operation without sending data, press N.

Notes:  After you press EXE to send data, you can stop the send operation
        by holding down ON/ESC. STOPPED! appears brief.

        If the data cannot be sent properly, SEND ERROR appears.  Press
        ON/ESC and try again.
