Entering a Start-Up Message

Follow these steps to store a start-up message that will automatically dis-
play for about 2 seconds each time you turn on the EC-388.

Note: You cannot enter a tab symbol on either display line of the start-up
      message.

1.  Press (phone symbol) (if necessary) so the NAME? prompt appears.

2.  Type in -NAME- and press EXE. Twelve large dashes (_) appear on the top
    line of the display and twelve smaller dashes (-) appear on the bottom
    line, and the first dash on the top line blinks.

3.  Type in any combination of up to 12 characters or spaces that you want
    to appear on the top line of your start-up message, then press \/ /\ to
    move the cursor to the bottom display line. The first dash on that line
    blinks.

4.  Type in any combination of up to 12 numbers, spaces or hyphens that you
    want to appear on the bottom line of your start-up message, then press
    EXE to store the message. The message you just entered appears briefly,
    then the NAME? prompt reappears.

Each time you turn on the EC-388, your start-up message appears on the dis-
play for about 2 seconds.

Editing/Deleting A Start-Up Message

To edit a stored start-up message, follow Steps 1-4 in "Entering a Start-Up
Message" above, except edit the characters you want to change in Steps 3
and 4.
