EC-382 128K Electronic Organizer w/Pager and Caller ID
(650-0842) Care and Maintenance Faxback Doc. # 45498
Your Radio Shack EC-382 128K Electronic Organizer with Pager ID and Caller
ID with Pager Forwarding by Rolodex is an example of superior design and
craftsmanship. The following suggestions will help you care for your EC-382
so you can enjoy it for years.
Keep the organizer dry. If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately. Liquids
might contain minerals that can corrode the electronic circuits.
Use and store the organizer only in normal temperature environments.
Temperature extremes can shorten the life of electronic devices, damage
batteries, and distort or melt plastic parts.
Note: At very low temperatures, the display's response time might slow
down or fail completely. This is only temporary. Your organizer
returns to normal operation at warmer temperatures.
Keep the organizer away from dust and dirt, which can cause premature
wear of parts.
Handle the organizer gently and carefully. Dropping it can damage circuit
boards and cases and can cause the organizer to work improperly.
Use only fresh batteries of the required size and type. Batteries can leak
chemicals that damage your organizer's electronic parts.
Wipe the organizer with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it looking new.
Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to
clean the organizer.
Modifying or tampering with your organizer's internal components can cause
a malfunction and might invalidate the organizers warranty and void your
FCC authorization to operate it. If your organizer is not performing as
it should, take it to your local Radio Shack store for assistance. If the
trouble is affecting the phone lines, the phone company can ask you to dis-
connect the phone until you have resolved the problem.
Resetting The Organizer
If your EC-382 is exposed to a strong static electrical charge, the organ-
izer might lock up or the display might dim. This rarely happens, but if it
does, reset the organizer.
Note: The reset procedure does not delete any information. It only resets
the display.
Insert a pointed object (such as a straightened paper clip) into the RESET
hole on the bottom of the organizer, then press and release.
CAUTION: Do not press ENTER and D when resetting your organizer, or all
your stored information is deleted.
If your EC-382 still does not work properly, replace the batteries and press
RESET again.
Note: If your EC-382 still works improperly after resetting it, try initial-
izing it. Follow the steps in "Initializing the Organizer" on Faxback
Doc. # 45486. Make sure you have backup records of your EC-382's
records because initializing it deletes all files.
