Voice Organizer
(650-0728) Troubleshooting Faxback Doc. # 40047

Blank Display

The display is completely blank. Your batteries are probably discharged.
Don't panic. First, place the unit in its charger for a full charge. Its
built-in protection feature will try to save your messages even if you
failed to heed the LOW BATTERY and CHARGE ME warnings, but in order to do
so, it had to blank the screen. Fully charge the unit before you try to
use it. Though you may generally use the Organizer while it is in the
charger, it would be preferable under these circumstances to let a full
charge build (eight hours) before using any of its energy.

After the Organizer is recharged, you may find that all information has
been lost. If so, it will be necessary to set the clock, train your voice
and re-enter all memos, reminders and phone numbers.

CHARGE ME

The display says CHARGEME. Your batteries have almost run down. It is
imperative to fully recharge the Voice Organizer for eight hours. Immediate
attention to this message may prevent complete memory content loss. Once
the Organizer is charging, CHARGING will appear on the display.

CHARGING

Whenever the Organizer is charging, CHARGING will briefly appear on the
display every 30 seconds. If the batteries have almost run down and the
Organizer is charging, the screen will continuously display CHARGING until
the batteries have a minimally sufficient charge. During this time, you
will not be able to use your Organizer.

CUT OFF

You got cut off while you were recording. Make sure you hold the
appropriate button down firmly while speaking into the Organizer.

FULL

You tried to record a message or add a telephone number and the FULL
message appeared on your display. Your Voice Organizer's memory is full.
Please delete an unnecessary memo, phone number, etc., to make room for your
new message.

INCOMPLETE RECORDING

You did not get the whole message you recorded. Make sure you hold the
RECORD button down firmly while you speak, and that you hold the unit close
enough to your mouth to get a good recording, usually 4-6 inches.

DATE ERR

The DATE ERR message appeared on the display when you entered an invalid
date (such as 6/31). When you release the TIME button, the Voice Organizer
will change to the preceding valid date. You can modify the date only by
re-entering it entirely.

LOW BATTERY

Though you are still able to use the Organizer, you get a LOW BATTERY
message. Charge the unit for four to six hours immediately. Though you
may have a day of use left, this is a serious warning and should be heeded
to avert memory content loss.

LOCKUP

The screen is blank or frozen and you cannot get a response from any button.
If the screen is blank, you may have let the batteries run down. Place
the unit in its charger overnight to revitalize the system. Your messages
may still be intact. If you had a system lockup while actually using the
unit or the unit is frozen, you may want to reset your Organizer or call
Customer Service.

MESSAGE

MESSAGE keeps appearing on the display and you cannot record. You have one
or more messages that have come due and not yet been played. You are locked
out of all other reminder functions until you attend to the priorities you
set. Press PLAY to hear the messages. If you must use another reminder
function before you listen to your messages, press STOP to terminate the
waiting display (this defers all waiting messages for 15 minutes), then
listen to your messages later when the Organizer beeps you again.

NO BEEP

You did not get beeped when you expected to for a reminder.

If display says MESSAGE you may not have a heard the beep. Play the
messages that are waiting. Did you set the alarm for a future time? If
you intended to be beeped today, but the hour and minutes you requested had
already passed, even by one minute, the due date would roll over to the
following day. Check you future reminders. Verify the hour you set was
the desired AM/PM - your beep may be off by twelve hours. Your time setting
was incomplete, e.g. you said 7 but did not say PM, or the Organizer did
not "hear" you.

NO CHANGE

You got the NO CHANGE message when you tried to record a new time for a
reminder. Set the due time again, the Organizer didn't hear anything
different. The NO CHANGE message also occurs if you begin to set a time
but do not complete it (at least past the AM/PM prompt).

NO MORE

You tried to record a memo or a phone number but were stopped by this
display. You have used all available memory. Erase some unneeded
recordings.

OVER 20

You got the OVER 20 message. Twenty names is the limit for any phone
directory alphabetical grouping. Record the new name alphabetically by
first name or nickname, or erase a name in this grouping that is no longer
used.

OVER 99

You got the OVER 99 message. Ninety-nine messages (99 memos and 99
reminders) is the limit for any single Voice Organizer section (56 for
recurring reminders). Delete unneeded messages.

SECURITY

SECURITY keeps appearing on your display, and you cannot use the Organizer.
A security code was set and security has been turned on. To turn it off,
you must enter your password (code), either by voice with the TIME button
or by hand with the EDIT button. If you have forgotten your security code
a complete reset will allow you to regain use of the Organizer, but only
with the loss of all data and voice recognition.

TRAIN

TRAIN flashed on the screen when you tried to record a command. You need
to train the Organizer to recognize your voice. Either it was not trained
initially, or you lost power at some point.

WRONG

WRONG appeared on your display when you entered your security code, and
the Organizer won't let you try again. When you enter the wrong security
code the Organizer shuts down for 30 seconds. If you have forgotten your
code, you will have to perform a complete reset, resulting in the loss of
all data and training.
