In this section you will find information that may add to your enjoyment,
such as additional capabilities, advanced functions and further details of
features previously covered. Topics are arranged alphabetically to permit
you to refer only to those that are of interest to you. The following may
be particularly useful.

Deferring a CAME DUE message to deal with it later.

Reviewing selected reminders from the many you have recorded.

Continuous playback of all memos or reminders.

Making a reminder recurring, that is, play it back, every day at 8:00 AM or
every Tuesday at 3:00 PM.

Setting the timer to keep you in, e.g., 50 minutes or two hours.

Setting the timer for a recurring beep, as in every four hours.

Manual settings for noisy (or need to be quiet) environments.

Providing security by entering a password to protect the privacy of the
information in your Organizer.

Scan the headings on the next few pages now to familiarize yourself with
the scope of what is available to you, or look alphabetically for any topic
for which you may desire more information.

BATTERIES

The Voice Organizer uses two types of batteries. The primary batteries are
NiCad (Nickel-Cadmium) rechargeable button-cells. There are five of these
NiCad batteries. There are also two backup Lithium batteries will never be
used. They are there to keep your stored information "alive" even if you
let the primary batteries go dead. The Lithium backup batteries will
maintain the memory of your Organizer for one to two weeks. After that,
both the primary and backup batteries will be dead and your stored
information will be lost.

Battery Capacity
Under normal use of 15 recordings, 10 beeps and 12 playbacks of two-second
messages per day, you have about three days until you must recharge. You
can conserve power by answering your beep as soon as possible, and by
playing messages in full only when you need to hear them. However, if you
store your Voice Organizer in its charger for at least two hours a day,
battery capacity should always be adequate.

Even though you keep the batteries well charged, they still have a "life"
of only a couple of years. We recommend that you replace the batteries
at least every two years (every year if you use your Organizer a great
deal). By following the procedure below, you will ensure that your
Organizer will not lose any of the important information you have stored
in it.

To change the batteries
Change both the Nicad and the Lithium backup batteries in one process. It
is important that you retain the two screws you will remove from your
Organizer and keep track of which batteries are the old ones and which are
the new ones. Be sure you have obtained the correct number of batteries.

1. To ensure that your Organizer is powered throughout the battery
replacement, it is best to have it connected to the charger. The
charger (the adapter that you plug into the wall) is plugged into the
back of the charger base. Unplug the charger from the charger base and
plug it directly into the bottom of your Organizer. Your Organizer is
now charging and you have access to the battery door.

2. Hold the NEXT and PREV buttons down simultaneously and wait about four
seconds until you hear a double beep and the display shows OPEN DOOR.

3. Turn your Organizer over and remove the screw from the battery door
using a small Phillips head screwdriver, then remove the door.

4. There is a small Phillips head screw holding down the Lithium battery
contact clip at the top of the battery compartment. Remove this screw
and the contact clip by rotating it slightly clockwise and then pulling
it out. Be careful not to damage the battery contact clip.

5. Turn the Organizer over in your hand and the Lithium batteries should
    fall out.

6. Turn the Organizer over face down. Install the new Lithium batteries
with the flat surface facing up (the surface that has the + symbol).

7. Replace the battery contact clip and the screw that was removed in step
    4. Tighten the screw just enough to hold the clip firmly. Do not
    over tighten the screw.

8. Now remove the five NiCad batteries. This can be done by grabbing the
edge of the battery with your index finger and pulling back.

9. Install the new NiCad batteries by laying them in their compartment
with the flat side facing up (the surface that has the + symbol) and
pressing them all the way in with your thumb. Do one battery at a
    time.

10. Once all the new batteries are installed you can replace the battery
door and its screw. Tighten the screw just enough to hold the door
flat. Do not overtighten the screw.

11. Press and hold the STOP button until you hear a double beep. The
display will show NO XMEM for a second and then return to the normal
     clock display.

We suggest that you charge the new batteries completely (for about
     eight hours).

Battery Sources
Lithium batteries are commonly used in watches and calculators and should
be readily available at retailers that sell these products. The NiCad
batteries should be available at battery specialty stores listed in your
phone book. If you have trouble finding a store that handles the NiCad
batteries, call our special battery ordering number.

Calendar
You can review future reminders by date over the next 12 months by using
the calendar feature to jump to that date, then executing any of the
usual play commands. You can also use the calendar to look ahead to see,
for example, what day of the week your birthday falls on. You may access
your calendar either by voice or manually, using the buttons. When you
are in the calendar, the Voice Organizer displays the number of reminders
and recurring reminders set to come due on the date shown.

Entering Calendar Manually
From the basic clock display, press SELECT four times. Use the PREV or NEXT
buttons to move from day to day. Once you find the desired day, you can
play the entries for that day as described below.

Playing Calendar Messages
Press PLAY to hear the first message (reminder or recurring reminder)
scheduled for that day and then NEXT to hear subsequent messages. Press
STOP after playing to exit the day, then PREV or NEXT (or a voice command)
to move to another day, or STOP again to return to the basic clock display.

NOTE: Reminders may be set to beep and the calendar may be scrolled into
the future only one year from the current date.

Charge
Since you do not have to fully discharge the Voice Organizer before being
able to recharge it, it is strongly recommended that you keep the unit in
its charger whenever you are not using it. You may continue to use the
Organizer while it is being recharged.

Low Battery
When your battery's charge is getting low, the display will send you the
LOW BATTERY warning, letting you know that within 24 hours you must place
it in the charger for at least a couple of hours, preferably four to six
hours.

Charge Me
Once the CHARGEME message comes on the display, you are locked out of all
other functions until you begin a full recharge. When you start charging
the Organizer, the screen will display CHARGING continuously. After the
Voice Organizer has been charging for three hours or more, the screen will
return to the standard clock display and CHARGING will be displayed every
30 seconds. At this point, you may use the Organizer again while it
continues recharging. It's a good idea to charge the Organizer a full eight
hours.

WARNING: The Voice Organizer will remind you with the LOW BATTERY warning
when it needs charging. You'll have 24 hours to comply with its
four to six hour charging requirements. If you fail to recharge
the unit by the time the CHARGEME warning appears, you risk
losing your clock setting, recognition of your voice, and all of
your messages. Charge for eight hours immediately. Should you
lose your charge, you will have to retrain the Organizer.

Clock, Change
When you reset the clock ahead or behind an hour, for daylight savings time
for example, or time zone changes, all reminders and timers move ahead or
behind correspondingly. If, for example, you set a reminder or timer to
beep at 9:00PM before daylight savings time, it will still beep at 9:00 PM
after you change to daylight savings time.

Defer a Message
When you're beeped, you can press STOP to postpone listening to your
message for 15 minutes, at which time you'll be beeped again. You may
press STOP each time you are beeped. Pressing STOP will delay all of the
messages that have come due at the time STOP was pressed. If you do not
press STOP, the Organizer will continue to beep according to the beeping
schedule.

Changing the 15-Minute Message Deferral Period
Pressing STOP when the Organizer has beeped you for a message that came
due and is waiting will postpone the message for 15 minutes by factory
setting. If you would like to change this interval, at the basic clock,
display hold STOP for the double beep. The screen says SETDEFER. Use
SELECT and PREV or NEXT to choose an interval. Press SAVE. Any time you
defer reminders, they will be postponed this new interval.

Defer to a Specific Time

Manually
You can defer all waiting messages for an interval other than 15 minutes,
such as an hour until your meeting is over. After the "came due" beep,
while MESSAGE is still on the screen, hold the STOP button until you hear
the double beep. Use SELECT and PREV or NEXT to scroll to the desired
delay and press SAVE. The maximum deferral is 23 hours, 59 minutes.

By Voice
To postpone waiting messages by voice, play them, then record a new time
for them.

Erase Messages
For safety, always play messages before erasing them.

Automatically
Reminders that have come due (beeped you) and been played automatically
erase themselves when you return to the basic clock display (either by
pressing STOP or by letting 30 seconds elapse). However, activity, such as
playing again, reviewing other reminders, etc., begins a new 30 second
countdown. (Memos and recurring reminders never automatically erase.
Reminders will not automatically erase unless they have both come due and
been played.)

Just Recorded
To erase a message immediately after recording it, while RECORDED or
PLAYBACK and the time are still on the screen, hold ERASE until ERASING
appears on the screen.

Previously Recorded
To erase a memo or future reminder, find it, play it to confirm, then hold
the ERASE button until ERASING appears on the screen.

WARNING: Do not erase a message twice. Depending on the position of the
memo you erased (first, middle, last among your memos), the memo
numbers on your remaining memos may be reassigned. For example,
if you erased the fourth of five memos, what was previously memo
          # 5 is now # 4. (Don't assume because you see a 4 on the display
that the original # 4 was not erased.) Erasing it again clears
out what was previously # 5 as well. If you are ever unsure,
just play the memo or reminder before erasing it.

Memory Capacity
Message memory in the Organizer is dynamically replenished. As each
reminder comes due and is played, it is erased automatically unless you
specifically save it, thus continuously adding space back into your
available new message capacity.

The Organizer will store up to 99 memos, 99 reminders, 56 recurring
reminders and 100 directory names with up to four phone numbers each.
Usual storage is about 90 average - length messages of two to three
seconds each; although, you could store 24 10-second messages or 240 one-
second messages. Setting reminder times and inputting phone numbers take
virtually no memory; although, the voice recordings of names in the
directory do take a second or two each.

An estimate of remaining storage capacity displays for one second whenever
the RECORD button is pressed. In fact, you can quickly press and release
the RECORD button (less than .75 second) without recording a message to
see your remaining capacity. This is an approximate percentage of space
remaining in the memory.

No
You can correct a mistake in voice recognition just by saying "No."
If the Organizer misunderstands you, i.e., puts feedback on the screen that
is not what you said while setting a due time by voice, entering a phone
number or using the voice calculator - say "No" and the Organizer will
automatically make a second guess.

If it is still incorrect, say "No" again and restate the correct word when
prompted to REPEAT. This cycle will continue until you accept display
feedback and move on by answering the next prompt or abort the process.
If the Organizer is frequently wrong, retrain the Organizer on the words it
is misunderstanding.

Phone Directory
The telephone directory will hold 100 names (up to four phone numbers each)
divided into five sections of up to 20 names each for quick access: A-D,
E-I, J-M, N-R, and S-Z. Pressing the PHONE button repeatedly moves you
from alphabetical section to section.

The PHONE button is also used for name and number entry, number retrieval
and name or message recording. During voice input of a number, there is
a 10-second grace period if you release the PHONE button, during which
you may press PHONE again and continue.

PREV or NEXT moves from phone number to phone number within an alphabetical
section. Holding EDIT for a double beep within an alphabetical section.
Holding EDIT for a double beep indicates a new name or number is about to
be added. Pressing EDIT for a single beep indicates a displayed number
will be changed. To learn how to enter, retrieve, edit and erase numbers
in the directory, see "Operation," Faxback Doc. # 40036.

Retraining a Name in Phone Directory
To retrain an existing name in the phone directory for better voice
recognition, retrieve the name in the usual way, then while the number is
displayed, press TRAIN, hold the PHONE button and say the name, repeating
it when prompted.

Re-recording a Name for Message
To re-record a name for playback, retrieve the name in the usual way, then
press RECORD and wait for a double beep; say the new name or the message
you want to play back when this number is retrieved.

Retrieving Phone Numbers

Manual Retrieval
Pressing PLAY immediately upon entering an alphabetical section will start
the playback and scrolling process without your having to say a name aloud.
Use PREV or NEXT to scroll through the numbers and names in the directory.

Long Numbers
Numbers can be up to 20 digits. If a number has more than 15 digits, only
the first 10 are put on the first screen. To go to the second screen of a
number that is more than 15 digits in length, press SELECT. To return to
the first screen, either hold PHONE and call for the name again, or press
PREV to go to the prior phone number then NEXT to move forward to the first
screen of this long phone number.

Phone Numbers With Extensions
Depending on whether or not you enter an area code for a person, and how
many digits are in their extension, the phone number may not be positioned
in relation to the top and bottom lines or to the hyphen the way you desire.
There are two solutions to this: you can enter the extension with the
phone number and ignore the visual position of the numbers, or you can
enter the extension as a separate number, under Other, which would then be
accessed by pressing NEXT.

Keep Number on Screen Longer
A busy signal or something else might require your keeping the number you
are looking at in your Voice Organizer on the screen longer than the 30
seconds it is usually displayed. Press PLAY to restart the 30-second
viewing period.

Tips for Phone Directory
Train and record the name the way you normally think of it, not necessarily
the way you would write it in a directory. Such "non-traditional" entries
might include "the Plant" instead of the actual name of the place where you
work, "Mom" instead of your mother's first and last name, etc.

Group the names in the alphabetical sections you associate with asking for
them. For example, you might put "Penny" under N-R even though Penny's
last name is Stockton, because you're saying Penny, you're thinking P.

The way you ask for a name, "John," and the playback confirmation you
receive, "John Smith," do not have to be identical, since one is the voice
training used to enter and recall a name and one is simply a recording
that plays back for confirmation. Playback names use memory, so they
should be short, yet long enough for you to hear clearly. The playback
"name" could also be any message you want to hear every time you ask for
this phone number.

Voice recognition works better the more distinctive the sounds are, so most
entries would include first and last names, run together the way you
normally say them. Don't pause between first and last names.

Playback, Continuous
All stored memos or reminders can be played consecutively by one button.
Hold down the PLAY button in the desired message compartment for two
seconds (you'll hear a double beep), and all messages from the currently
selected one forward will play with a single beep between messages and a
double beep at the end of the series. Memos are played in order of time
recorded. Reminders are played in order of time due.

Playback, Pause During
If during playback of any message you need to pause to write something
down, answer the phone, or speak to someone, touch the STOP button.
Playback will pause for up to 30 seconds. Press PLAY to continue listening
where you left off. If you do not press PLAY before your 30-second pause
expires, the playback, when you do press PLAY, will begin at the beginning
of the message rather than where you left off. Touch STOP to see the
original CAME DUE, RECORDED, etc., display and a second STOP to return to
the basic clock or WAITING display.

Recurring Reminders
Making a reminder that beeps you regularly is the same as recording any
reminder, except that you say the word recurring at the end of the time-
setting sequence.

Make a memo by holding down the RECORD button and speaking into the
Organizer. Attach a time to the memo by holding down the TIME button and
saying the hour, quarter hour, AM/PM, day of the week (e.g., Monday) or
month and date (such as 7/25), with a pause after each word, and then say
"recurring." Release the TIME button and your recurring time due is saved.
The Organizer will choose a period of recurrence, as described below.

To Change an Existing Reminder into a Recurring Reminder

Manually
Find the reminder and hold down the EDIT button until you hear a beep then
a double beep.

By Voice
As an alternative to using the EDIT button, you can use the TIME button to
restate the existing due time and add the word "recurring" at the end of
the sentence.

Period of Recurrence
The Voice Organizer sets the period of recurrence according to how much
information you input while setting the time. You may change the period
of recurrence while the period is blinking by pressing PREV or NEXT.

If you enter only the time, the Organizer will choose to beep DAILY.

If you enter time and day (Sunday, Monday, etc.) the Organizer will choose
to beep WEEKLY.

If you enter time and date (month and day by number) the Organizer will
choose to beep monthly.

Manual Override
The period of recurrence chosen by the Organizer can be changed by pressing
PREV or NEXT to cycle through the daily/weekly/monthly/yearly options.
There is a 15-second grace period to begin this entry, while the period of
recurrence is still blinking on the display.

NOTE: Daily, weekly, or monthly reminders can be set to begin well in the
future and recur from that time forward, e.g., to start April 1 and
remind you daily to work on your taxes or to start at the beginning
of the next fiscal year and remind you monthly of the new reports
       that will be due.

To Change a Recurring Reminder into a One-Time Reminder
To change a recurring reminder into a one-time reminder, find the recurring
reminder, then hold down the EDIT button until you hear a beep then a
double beep. When their usefulness expires, recurring reminders are erased
by finding them, then holding down ERASE until the ERASING message appears.

Reminders
A reminder is a memo with a due time attached.

Shortcut
It is not necessary to enter all of the time setting information the
Organizer asks for. Follow the on screen prompts, and release the TIME
button as soon as the display reflects your desired due time. You must
include at least the hour and AM/PM.

Today
Set the time only (hour, quarter hour, AM/PM).

This Week
(Seven days counting today.) Set the time as above and the day (Sunday
through Saturday).

Beyond this Week
Set the time as above, plus the number of the month (1-12) and the number
of the day (single digits 0-9; e.g., the 23rd is 2,3; the 4th is 4.

Time Setting Manually
To manually set the time, press EDIT immediately after recording your
message or while a previously recorded memo is selected. Press PREV or
NEXT to scroll to the desired hour. Press SELECT to move from field to
field to continue setting the desired time. Press SAVE to complete the
manual time setting or STOP to abort.

Minute Precise Alarm
To set reminders to come due at a time other than the hour or quarter hour,
after speaking the nearest hour and quarter hour due time, press EDIT. Use
the SELECT button to move to the minutes field and press PREV or NEXT to
move to the exact minute at which you desire to be beeped. Press SAVE.

Beeping Schedule for Waiting Message
When the Organizer beeps you that a message has come due and is waiting, if
you do not attend to it, you will be beeped"

   Every five minutes until it's 15 minutes past due;
   Every 15 minutes until it's 2 hours past due;
Every 1 hour until it's 12 hours past due.
Then MESSAGE silently flashes until the messages are played or deferred.

Change Reminder Time
By Voice
To change the due time on an existing reminder by voice, press SELECT to
get to the desired compartment (reminders, recurring reminders), then press
PREV or NEXT to locate the due time you want to change. (It's a good idea
to play the message to confirm your selection.) Use the TIME button to
record the new time. Optional: say "recurring" to turn on the recurring
feature, if desired, or to turn it off if it was already on.

Manually
You can set or change the due time on a reminder by hand. Once you've
found the recording for which you want to set or change the due time, press
EDIT, then use SELECT to move to the correct field and PREV or NEXT to set
the desired new time. Continue in this manner until all the desired fields
are modified. If this is a recurring reminder, you can press SELECT to
advance from the day field to the period of recurrence and then change the
period (e.g.,change daily to weekly.) Press SAVE to finish changing the
time or STOP to exit without saving.

Play Reminders

Play When Beeped
Typically, you will play your messages when they "come due," that is, when
the Organizer beeps you. The display shows you how many reminders you have
waiting (which came due at the same time or came due since you last
attended to your Voice Organizer). Once you press PLAY, the CAME DUE time
will stay on the screen for 30 seconds, allowing you time to play the
message again or execute one of the other options discussed fully under
"What to Do After Playing a Reminder that has Come Due," below.

To play a reminder when it comes due, you will simply press PLAY. If you
do not press PLAY, you will be beeped according to the beeping schedule
described above until you do play it or defer it.

What to Do After Playing a Reminder that has Come Due
Thirty seconds after you play it, the message will automatically erase
itself. It cannot erase itself until you have played it. In fact, you
will be locked out of all other functions until you have played or deferred
the message(s) for which you have been beeped. However, you do have 30
seconds to choose one of several ways to handle the reminder after it has
come due and you have played it.

To save the recording as a memo, you can press SAVE.
To record a new due time by voice, you can hold the TIME button.
To set a new due time by hand (anytime CAME DUE is on the display), you
      can press EDIT.
To scroll through other messages that have come due, you can press
PREV or NEXT then press PLAY to play them.
You can press STOP after full playback to return to the basic clock
display. This will delete the message immediately. If you had more
than one CAME DUE message and have not reviewed them all, STOP erases
all the messages you just played and moves you back to the MESSAGE
display. Press PLAY to hear the next message.
You can let the 30 seconds lapse, at which time all CAME DUE messages
that were played will be erased.

(When you press option buttons other than STOP, you renew your 30-second
grace period.)

To Change to a Recurring Reminder or a Memo
To change a reminder into a recurring reminder, find the reminder, then
hold down the EDIT button until you hear a beep then double beep. To
change a reminder into a memo, after it comes due and you play it, press
SAVE.

Reset System

Partial Reset
To reset the Voice Organizer in the event of a system lockup, insert the
end of a straightened paper clip into the tiny hole to the left of the
battery compartment cover and press for one second. Do not poke around.
The paper clip presses the reset button. The display will go blank for
several seconds and then return to the basic clock display. Your message
and voice training are retrained, but you may need to reset the clock.

Complete Reset
If the partial reset does not overcome your system lockup, a complete reset
can be performed, but all memory content will be lost - messages, phone
numbers, and voice training. Begin by pressing and holding the ERASE
button, gently insert and remove the straightened paper clip as described
above, then release the ERASE button when the screen flashes a full test
pattern. Everything is erased, and your Voice Organizer needs a full
recharge (if you fail to fully recharge after a reset, you may not receive
adequate low battery warning later). Then set the clock and train the
Organizer to recognize your voice.

Retrain One Word
To retrain only one word, from the basic clock display, press the TRAIN
button, then PREV or NEXT until the word you wish to retrain comes onto
the display. Hold down the TIME button while you pronounce the word
carefully the two or three times you are prompted at the same distance from
your mouth you normally use (usually 4-6 inches). When finished, release
the TIME button. Easily confused pairs, like AM/PM, or seven/eleven,
should both be retrained if one is retrained. Also, any wrong word that
consistently appears for a specific command should also be retrained; e.g.,
if four often appears when you say one, retrain not only one but also four.

Review
To review memos or to scan reminders or recurring reminders that are now
due, press SELECT to get into memos, reminders or recurring reminders.
Then use PREV or NEXT to find the desired message. Modifications (change
due time or message type, erase, etc.) can be performed while the
RECORDED time or PLAYBACK time are on the display. To be sure you are
modifying the desire message, play it first. PREV or NEXT scrolling can
be used while listening.

To see the total number of reminders recorded, upon pressing SELECT to enter
the Reminder section, press the PREV button, which takes you to the reminder
farthest into the future, and therefore the highest number.

Save
All recorded messages (memos, reminders, recurring reminders) are
automatically saved by virtue of being recorded. All valid voice time
settings are also automatically saved. While pressing SAVE will not hurt
under any circumstances, it only needs to be used under the following
circumstances.

  Came Due Reminder
To save a reminder that has come due, press SAVE after playing it to
store it as a memo. Otherwise, it will erase itself after an inactivity
period of 30 seconds following playback. (Reminders never automatically
erase without both coming due and being played!) Using the TIME button
and your voice to set a new due time after playback saves it as a new
  reminder.

  Entering Phone Numbers
After entering a phone number, press SAVE. Then select the number type
(business, home, fax or other) and press SAVE. To complete the saving
of a new name entry, you must record a playback confirmation name (or
message) when the screen prompts you to RECORD.

Security
Password protection prevents access to your Organizer's contents. You
would turn it on, for example, when you're leaving it unattended in the
recharger. When you return, you'll turn security off by entering your
password.

To add password protection to your Voice Organizer's contents, from the
basic clock display hold SELECT for a double beep. The display shows
SECURITY OFF. Hold EDIT for a double beep. Hold the TIME button and speak
your desired new code (or press NEXT to start manual entry using SELECT
and PREV or NEXT).

Anytime after a password has been set, you can turn on security as follows.
First, hold SELECT for the double beep. The display shows SECURITY OFF.
Press SELECT again. Hold the TIME button and speak your code. SECUR ON
appears on the display. Instead of using TIME button and speaking your
code, you may press EDIT, then use SELECT and PREV or NEXT to enter your
code manually.

To turn security off, press any button to reveal the security code entry.
At this screen, hold the TIME button and speak your code. The display
says SECURITY OFF. You may prefer to use EDIT, SELECT, and PREV or NEXT to
enter your code manually.

Forgotten Code
Security can only be turned off by first entering the code. If you do not
remember your code, you will have to perform a complete reset, thus losing
all of your data.

Wrong Code
If you enter an incorrect code, the Organizer displays WRONG and locks you
out for 30 seconds.

Change Code
To change your security code:

1. Hold SELECT for the double beep. The display shows SECURITY OFF.
2. Hold EDIT for a double beep. OLD CODE appears on the display.
3. Hold the TIME button and
4. Speak you existing code.
5. Release the TIME button. NEW CODE appears in the display.

Timers
Set Timer
A timer can be set to beep at a certain length of time from now rather than
at a time on the clock. For example, you can be beeped for a single message
such as "Call Bob again" in 20 minutes, or repeatedly as in "Take pills"
every four hours. Intervals may be specified in a range from one minute
to 23 hours and 59 minutes. The interval you set will count down from the
time you set it.

By Voice
To set the timer, record the message (or play a previously recorded
message). Hold the TIME button and say "Timer." TIMER appears on the
display. Then say the desired hours and/or minutes interval in single
digits, pausing between digits. For example, to set one hour, say "1"
(pause) "hour." Or, to set 3 hours and 30 minutes, say "3" (pause) "hours"
(pause) "3" (pause) "zero" (pause) "minutes." The timer is automatically
saved and PLAY IN and the interval appear on the display.

Manually
To set the timer, record or find a previously recorded message. Press the
EDIT button once to initiate manual entry. Press EDIT again to change to
TIMER format. Press PREV or NEXT to move to the desired interval. Minutes
scrolled up to 99 will be converted to one hour plus remaining minutes as
long as total hours and minutes does not exceed 23:59. (For 24 hours or
more, use a reminder.) Use SELECT to move between hours and minutes. Press
SAVE to complete the setting or STOP to abort.

Recurring Timer by Voice
The timer you just made can be made to recur, as in "Check voice mail"
every two hours. Set the timer as indicated above. At the end of the
time-setting process, say "recurring." Release the TIME button. The
display will show the total hours and minutes over the countdown of time
remaining until the next beep. For example, if you set a recurring timer
for every eight hours, the display will show 8 HR 0 M. After, for instance,
1 hour and 15 minutes, you can recall the recurring timer and the display
will show that the recurring timer will beep in 6 hours and 45 minutes.

To delete the recurring timer, press and hold ERASE. ERASING will flash
on the display.

Recurring Timer by Hand
Set the timer as indicated above. At the end of the time setting process,
hold EDIT for the double beep.

Voice Recognition
Using the Voice Organizer often and following these use guidelines when
saying words for voice recognition will enable you to achieve almost 100%
voice recognition accuracy very quickly.

Distance
Hold the Voice Organizer 4-6" from your mouth and in a direct line with it.

Voice
Speak clearly and distinctly in a conversational tone - the same tone you
used to train the Organizer in the beginning. (If you are more comfortable
with a different tone, retrain the unit.) You should pause after each word
to observe verification of what you said on the Organizer's display.

Environment
Make voice recognition statements in a quiet place. Traffic office
equipment and other people may be making noises the Organizer is trying
to interpret. Or you can follow the manual procedures included with most
function descriptions.

Retrain Voice
To retrain voice recognition of all words (due to a change in tone of voice,
a cold, or a different user), press TRAIN then hold ERASE for the double
beep. ERASING will appear on the display. Voice training is deleted and
ZERO flashes. Hold TIME and read displayed words for new voice training.

Errors
It is common to have errors in voice recognition until you and your
Organizer get in sync. Your recognition accuracy will be dramatically
improved by noticing which words are frequently misunderstood and
retraining those words.

VOLUME CONTROL
The volume of the Voice Organizer, playback and beeps can be adjusted to
the level you desire. Behind the left side of the display (on the back
of the Organizer) is a volume wheel. Use your finger to dial down (toward
the logo) to reduce speaker volume or up (toward the display) to increase
speaker volume.
