INITIALIZING THE EC-384
Follow these steps to initialize your EC-384 before you use it for the first
time or if it is exposed to a strong static electrical charge and the
display locks up.
Caution: Initializing the EC-384 deletes all stored information!
1. Lift and slide the EC-384 away from the binder to remove it.
2. If you are initializing the EC-384 before you use it the first time,
you must remove the battery slips that come with the EC-384 to preserve
battery power.
To remove the slips, grasp each tab that extends from the battery
compartment and firmly pull on the tab to slide the slip out of the
compartment.
Note: If you are unable to easily slide a slip out of the compartment,
you can open the battery compartment cover to remove the slips.
3. Press and hold down the period (.) key and the 8 key at the same time.
4. While pressing these keys, insert a pointed object (such as straightened
paper clip) into the RESET hole on the bottom of the EC-384, then press
it gently. The display shows a variety of test characters, then 3K OK
appears.
Note: If NON-3K OK appears on the display, there might be a problem
with the EC-384's memory. Take it to your local RadioShack
store for assistance.
5. Release the period and 8 keys.
6. Press RESET again. The default day, time, and date appear on the
display, and the EC-384 is ready for use.
7. Reattach the EC-384 to its binder.
Note: If your EC-384 still does not work properly, replace the batteries.
