Memos

Making:  to make memos, hold sown the Rec button and talk.

Playing: To play back your memos, press either < or >.

To hear all of your memos play continuously, hold down < or > until you hear
the double beep.  Press the Clock button to stop playing them.

Erasing: To erase a memo, first play it, then hold down the Erase button
until you hear the double beep.  "ERASING" flashes on the display.

Appointments

Entering an Appointment in Your Calendar

To set an appointment, first make a memo about the appointment by holding
down the Rec button while you talk.  For example, hold down the Rec button
and say "Meet new trainer at the gym."  Release the Rec button.

Then hold down the Calendar button while you say the time.  Watch the dis-
play; the blinking field suggests what to say next.

NOTE:  The Pocket Organizer only knows the time in hours, half hours and
       quarter hours (e.g. 1 p.m., 1:15 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 1:45 p.m.).

If your Pocket Organizer enters the wrong time, say "No."  It will change
it.  If it's still wrong, say "No" again, and your Pocket Organizer will
prompt you to "REPEAT" your statement.

If your appointment is . . .
on the hour, today, say the hour (pause) then a.m. or p.m.

FOR EXAMPLE: "2 - p.m." not 2 o'clock.

For "Hours" say a number from 1 - 12.
For "Minutes" say fifteen or thirty or forty-five and then a.m. or p.m.

Within That Week . . .
say the hour (pause), the quarter hour (pause), a.m. or p.m. (pause) and
the day.

FOR EXAMPLE: "3 - 45 - p.m. - Friday" not 3:45 Friday.

For "Hours" say a number from 1 -12.
For "Minutes" say fifteen or thirty or forty-five and then a.m. or p.m.
For "Day" (the day of the week) say Sunday or Monday or Tuesday or Wednes-
day or Thursday or Friday or Saturday.

On a Specific Date . . .
say the time as above, then the month number and day number as single
digits.

FOR EXAMPLE: for 10:15 a.m., Dec. 17, say "ten - fifteen - a.m. - twelve -
one - seven". Remember to say the day as single digits ie: one - seven, not
seventeen.

For "Hours" say a number from 1 - 12.
For "Minutes" say fifteen or thirty or forty-five then always say a.m. or
p.m. 
For "Date" (month) say the month first then a number from 1 - 12.
For "Date" (day of the month) say a number from 1 - 9; for two digit
numbers, say each digit separately, as 1 - 7 for seventeen.

Recurring Appointments

Daily

To set a daily appointment for the same time every day (Monday through
Friday), record your memo, then hold down the Calendar button and say the
time followed by the word "Daily".

The word "DAILY" will appear on the display along with the double bell.  In
a few seconds, or when you press the Clock button, your Pocket Organizer
will save your appointment. Your Pocket Organizer will alert you every day,
Monday through Friday, at the time you set.

Weekly

To set a weekly appointment for the same time and day every week (Sunday
through Saturday), record your memo, then hold down the Calendar button and
say the time, the day of the week and the word "Weekly."

NOTES:  For best voice recognition, watch the display for prompts.

        The Calendar always reaches one year into the future.

If You're in a Noisy Place

When you want to set an appointment; simply record a memo.

Later, sit down in a quiet place, play your memo then hold down the Calendar
button and say the time for the appointment.

You can turn any memo into an appointment.  Play it, then hold down the
Calendar button and say your appointment time.

Reviewing Appointments in Your Calendar

To see the total number of appointments you have scheduled, hold down the
Calendar button. You'll see the total on the left under the bell.

To Listen to Appointments for a Certain Day . . .
Hold down the Calendar button while you say the day or date you want to
review, such as "Saturday" or "twelve - one - seven" for 12/17.  (The
display shows how many appointments you have today,) if any.

Then press the Calendar button again to play the first appointment.

Press > to play the next appointment.

To see other dates that have appointments, press and release the Calendar
button.

Press > to advance to the next appointment date.  Each date that has an
appointment scheduled shows the bell and the total for that day.  Press
Calendar again to play the first appointment for that day and follow
instructions above to listen to appointments.

Press the Clock button to return to today's date.

When You're Beeped for an Appointment

When an appointment time arrives, your Pocket Organizer will alert you by
beeping and flashing the word "MESSAGE" on the display.  Press < or > to
listen to your appointment.  Your Pocket Organizer deletes the appointment
after you've played it unless you set a new time for it by holding down the
Calendar button and saying the new time or pressing the Edit button to save
it as a memo.

If you don's play your message right away, your Pocket Organizer will con-
tinue to beep.

Changing an Appointment Time or Date

To change an appointment time by talking, find the appointment you want to
change.  Hold down the Edit button until you hear the double beep.  Then
hold down the Calendar button while you say the new appointment time (and
day, if desired).

To change an appointment time by hand, find the appointment you want to
change.  Hold down the Edit button until you hear the double beep.  Then
press < or > to change the hour. Press the Edit button again to step to the
minutes or date and press < or > to make changes.  Your Pocket Organizer
will automatically save your changes in a few seconds, or you can press the
Clock button to save your changes immediately.

Phone Book

Entering Numbers in the Phone Book

Press the Phone button once for A-K or twice for L-Z.  Each half of the
phone book can hold 20 names and numbers.

Hold down the Edit button until you hear the double beep and "SAY NAME"
appears on the display.  Release the Edit button.

Hold down the Phone button while you say the person's name.  Your Pocket
Organizer will prompt you to repeat it and repeat it again.  (You'll say
the name three times in all.)

Continue to hold the Phone button while you say the phone number, one digit
at a time, pausing between digits.  IF YOUR POCKET ORGANIZER ENTERS THE
WRONG NUMBER, SAY "NO".  It will change the number.  If it's still wrong,
say "No" again, and you'll be given the opportunity to "REPEAT" the correct
number.

You may also press the Erase button to back up during number entry.  Hold
down the Phone button again and continue recording.

When you finish, you may press the Clock button to save and return to
today's date and time.  If you do nothing, your Pocket Organizer will save
your entry within 15 seconds.

Retrieving a Number from the Phone Book

Press the Phone button once for A-K or twice for L-Z.  Hold down the Phone
button while you say the name of the person whose number you want. The name
will play aloud for confirmation and the phone number will appear on the
screen.

Changing a Person's Phone Number

Find the person's number you want to change. When you see it on the screen,
hold down the Edit button until you hear the double beep.

Press the Edit button to advance to the digit you need to change and < or >
to change it.

Press the Clock button to save your changes instantly, or wait for your
Pocket Organizer to automatically save your changes within 15 seconds.

To delete a person's entry from the phone book, just find that person's
number and then hold down the Erase button.
