Data Entry Tips

Entry Fields

There are two kinds of data entry fields on the display. The first two rows
accept alphabetic characters. Numbers, and spaces. The last two rows accept
only numbers, dashes (-), and spaces.

Moving the Cursor

The cursor on the screen lets you see where to add or delete a character.
The cursor blinks over the space or character you are currently editing. If
the cursor is on a space or blank on the display, the cursor looks like _.
If the cursor is over a character on the display, the cursor looks like [].

The cursor automatically advances to the next entry position after you enter
a character or space. To start a new line, simply press (<--)(ENTER). The
cursor moves to the beginning of the next line.

While editing records, you can press < or > to move the cursor backward or
forward on the current line, or press /\ or \/ to move the cursor up or down
one line.

Entering Letters, Numbers and Spaces

To enter a letter or number, press the key marked with the letter or number
you want to enter. To enter a space, press SPACE.

Although you can enter up to 28 characters on a line, the organizer can only
display up to 14 characters at one time. If < or > appears on the lower left
or right side of the display, the line is longer than 14 characters.

Repeatedly press (or press and hold down) < or > to view any additional
characters on a line.

Using CAPS

Press CAPS to change from lowercase to capital letters. The display shows
[CAPS]. Press CAPS again until [CAPS] disappears to enter lowercase letters
again.

Using SHIFT

Press SHIFT to shift only the next letter you enter to be capital or lower-
case letter, depending on the setting or CAPS. The display shows /\. After
you press the letter, /\ disappears.

To enter a punctuation mark printed in yellow above the number keys on the
keypad, press SHIFT, then press the number key.

Enter Symbols

The organizer can display symbols printed in green above the letter keys on
the keypad (symbols).

To enter a symbol, press CODE, then press the corresponding key.

Entering Accented Characters

letter keys on the keypad (accent marks).

Follow these steps to accent a character.

NOTE: You can only apply an accent to a character that uses that accent.

1. Press CODE.

2. Press the key that has the desired accent printed above it.

TELEPHONE DIRECTORY

Your organizer has two telephone directories, TEL (1) and TEL (2), which
you can use to keep separate lists of phone information, such as business
and personal contacts. You can enter a person's or company's name, tele-
phone and fax numbers, and address or other information into a record. You
can enter up to 4 lines in each record; each line can contain up to 28
characters.

NOTE: The organizer sorts telephone records in alphanumeric order by the
first few characters in the name field, so you might want to enter
       a person's last name first.

Follow these steps to enter telephone records.

1. From the main menu display, use the arrow keys to choose C1 or C2, then
press EXE. The display shows the screen for the directory you selected.
The number to the right of DATA shows the number of telephone records
    stored.

       not if you select C2.

cursor moves to the next line.

cursor moves to the next line.

5. Use the number keys to enter the standard telephone number, then press
(<--)(ENTER). The cursor moves to the next line.

6. Use the number keys to enter the fax number, then press (<--)(ENTER).
The cursor flashes over the first character in the first line.

7. To save the telephone record, press EXE. STORED! Briefly appears on the
display, then TEL and (1) or (2) and DATA and the current number of
telephone records in memory appear on the display.

Or, if you do not want to save the information you entered, press ON.
The organizer displays the screen for the directory you selected.

8. To enter more records, repeat Steps 2 - 7.

alphanumeric order starting from the first line, and moves through schedule
records in chronological order based on the date entered in the record.

Initial character search - The organizer searches telephone and memo records
for the first few characters contained in the record, and searches schedule
records for the schedule date or event name (depending on the option you
select).

or (symbol), then press EXE to enter the desired function.
