Replacing the Batteries
Low Battery Warning
A low battery warning protects against loss and corruption of data stored
in memory. Replace the main battery immediately when the following display
appears.
"MAIN BATTERY
GETTING WEAK!
REPLACE IT!"
When this message appears, all data bank keys except OFF DO NOT FUNCTION.
Power turns off automatically 30 seconds after the low battery warning
message appears.
NOTE: To turn off the "Low battery" indicator, press RESET then press the
\/ until unit displays "EXIT", then press ENTER. This is considered
the "soft" reset.
Replacing the batteries
The EC-346 is powered by two lithium batteries (CR2032, Radio Shack Cat.No.
23-162), one for the main battery and one for the back-up battery. The
main battery provides power for normal operations; the back-up battery
protects memory contents.
IMPORTANT!: Incorrectly using batteries can cause them to burst or leak,
possibly damaging the interior of the EC-346. Note the
following precautions.
Be sure that the positive (+) side faces up.
Never leave dead batteries in the battery compartment.
Remove the batteries if you do not plan to use the EC-346 for long
periods.
Replace the main battery at least once every 5 years, and the back-up
battery once every 3 years. Batteries should be replaced no matter how
much you use the unit during that time.
WARNINGS: Never try to recharge the batteries supplied with the EC-346.
Do not expose batteries to direct heat, let them short, or try
to take them apart.
Never expose the EC-346 or batteries to direct heat or flame.
Keep batteries out of the reach of small children. If swallowed,
consult a physician immediately.
Memory contents are cleared when both the main battery and back-up battery
are removed at the same time. Be sure to leave one of the batteries in
place to protect memory contents. However, if you remove the main battery
for a long period, memory contents might be lost or altered depending on
the condition of the aback-up battery. If this should happen, you must
reset the data bank and re-enter the data.
