Playing Fortune - Teller

To see a fortune, select (Fortune-Teller symbol) from the main menu, then
press SET.  FORTUNETELL appears on the display.  Press SET to see the
fortune-teller's message.  Then press SET twice if you want to see a new
fortune.

NOTE:  If the message is longer than 12 characters, the display automatic-
       ally scrolls forward. Press any key (except ON/OFF, MODE, SET, or >)
       to stop the scrolling.  To resume scrolling, press >.

Playing PAPER-SCISSORS-STONE

You can play Paper-Scissors-Stone with the diary.  In this game:

1.  Paper wins against stone because it covers it.

2.  Scissors win against paper because they cut it.

3.  Stone wins against scissors because it breaks them.

Follow these steps to play the game.

1.  Select (Paper-Scissors-Stone symbol) from the main menu, then press SET.
    YOU CHOOSE appears on the display with the symbols for paper, scissors,
    or stone to its right.

2.  Press /\ or \/ to choose paper, scissors or stone, then press SET.  MY
    TURN appears on the display and it is the diary's turn to choose.  The
    diary's choice appears in the display's lower right corner.

       If you win, YOU WIN and a happy face appear on the display, and you
       hear several beeps.

       If you lose, YOU LOSE and a crying face appear and you hear a single
       beep.

       If the game is a tie, the diary chooses again.

Playing Hangman

You can use the diary to play Hangman with your friends. Follow these steps
and have fun!

1.  Select (Hangmen symbol) from the main menu, then press SET.  WORD?
    appears on the display.

2.  Type in the word you want to have your friend guess (up to 10 charac-
    ters), then press SET.  Ten "H"s appear and the underlines show how
    many letters are in the word.

3.  Pass the diary to a friend and let him or her guess the word.  

       For each correct guess, the letter appears in the place of the under-
       line in its correct position in the word.

       With each wrong guess, one of the "H"s disappears from the display.
       When all the "H"s have disappeared, HUNG! and a crying face appear on
       the display.  Then the correct Hangman word replaces HUNG!
 
       If all the letters are guessed correctly, the diary displays a happy
       face and a tone sounds twice.

Playing Match-Maker

Match-Maker lets you know how compatible you and a friend are by displaying
a number of hearts.  The more hearts displayed, the more compatible you are
with your friend. Ten hearts is a perfect match!

Follow these steps to play Match-Maker.

1.  Select (Match-Maker symbol) from the main menu, then press SET.  YOUR
    BIRTH? and 1994-01-01 appear on the display.

2.  Enter your birthday.  Enter 4 numbers for the year, 2 numbers for the
    month, and 2 numbers for the day.

NOTES:  When you enter birthdays, you do not need to press SHIFT before you
        press the numbers.

        If you make a mistake, use < and > to move the cursor, then change
        the number.

3.  Press SET.  FRIEND'S and 1994-01-01 appear on the display.

4.  Enter the person's birthday, then press SET.

    A number of hearts (from 1-10) appears.  The more hearts displayed, the
    more compatible you are with your friend.
