My Own Diary
(650-0824) Operation Faxback Doc. # 37285

Basic Operation

To switch the diary on or off, press ON/OFF. A face and HELLO appear when
you turn on the diary. After about 2 seconds, the display shows the last
function you selected. (If you haven't used the diary before or if you have
reset it, the display shows the date and time.)

To view the main menu, press MODE.

The main menu screen lets you select any of the diary's ten functions:

Language, Phone Directory, Lock/Unlock, Clock, Alarm, Calculator, Fortune-
Teller, Paper-Scissors-Stone, Hangman or Match-Maker.

To select a function, repeatedly press the < or > until the desired symbol
flashes. Then press SET.

The face automatically changes expression every minute in the clock mode,
using all of these faces.

To conserve power, the diary automatically turns itself off if you do not
press a button for about 4 minutes (except when the day and time are dis-
played). The clock continues keeping time.

Checking the Memory

The diary contains 1,392 memory units. To see how much memory is used and
how much is left, press MEM with the phone directory or time displayed. The
display shows USED/FREE and the number of memory units used and free.

Choosing a Language

You can choose English, French, or Italian as the diary's language. Follow
these steps to select the language.

1. Select Language from the main menu. ENGLISH?, FRANCAISE?, or ITALIANO?
    appears on the display.

2. Use /\ or \/ to select the language.

3. When you see the language you want, press SET. A bar appears on the
display above the selected language, and all of the displays appear in
    the selected language.

The diary automatically displays the time, or you can press MODE to
    select another function.

Using the Clock

When you turn on the diary, it briefly displays "HELLO" then returns to the
last mode used. To view the time after using another function, select CLOCK
from the main menu, then press SET.

NOTE: The diary does not turn off automatically while the day and time are
       displayed.

Setting the Day and Time

1. Select CLOCK from the main menu, then press SET. The display shows the
day of the week and the time.

2. Press and hold EDIT until the first digit of the time flashes.

3. To set the day of the week, press /\ or \/ until the correct day of the
    week appears on the display.

4. Use the buttons below the numbers to enter the correct time. If you
need to correct a number, use the < and > to move the cursor.

NOTES: When you enter the time, you do not need to press SHIFT before you
        press the numbers.

If the diary is in the 12-hour format, press AM-PM to switch between
an AM or PM time. A or P appears on the display. (See "Choosing 12-
        or 24-hour format" below.)

Enter a zero before a single-digit entry. For example, enter five
minutes after the hour as 05.

5. Press SET to store the correct day and time.

NOTE: If you enter an invalid time (for example, 15 for the hour in the 12-
hour format) and press SET, the diary automatically returns to the
old time. Repeat Steps 4-5 to enter the correct time.

Choosing 12- or 24-Hour Format

The diary is preset to the 24-hour time format, but you can easily switch
between 12- and 24-hour formats. Simply press 12-24 while the time is dis-
played. In the 12-hour format, A or P appears on the display to show AM or
PM time.

NOTE: You cannot change the diary's time format while you are setting the
time. You must first press SET to exit the time-setting screen.
