BASIC OPERATION
ABOUT YOUR ORGANIZER
NOTE: Before you use the organizer, remove the protective static cover
from the display.
Press ON/OFF to turn on the organizer. The display shows the time, the
date, and a face. To view the main menu, press MENU.
The main menu screen lets you select any of the organizer's 13 functions:
Phone Directory Scheduler
Calculator Lock/Unlock
Tetris Sea Battle
Match-Maker Fortune-Teller
Daily Alarm Homework
Things-To-Do Diary
Infrared Beam
To select a function, press <, >, /\, or \/ until that function's picture
flashes. Then press ENTER.
NOTE: To select infrared beam, move the right column of pictures and
press /\ until the infrared beam icon flashes. Then press ENTER.
FULL appears on the display when the organizer's memory is full. If this
happens, you must delete records before you can store new ones.
To conserve power, the organizer automatically turns off if you do not
press a button for about 2 minutes.
CHOOSING A LANGUAGE
You can choose English, German, Italian, Spanish, French, or Portuguese as
the organizer's language. Follow these steps to select the language.
1. Press ON/OFF to turn on the organizer.
2. Press L.
3. Press \/ or /\ to select the desired language.
4. Press ENTER to return to the date and time display.
SETTING/VIEWING THE DATE AND TIME
The organizer displays the time, month, date, and day of the week when you
turn it on. To view the time at any other time, press QUIT once or twice.
NOTE: A face appears on the display when you view the current date and
time. To change the face to a girl's face, press the face button.
Press the face button again to return to the boy's face.
Follow these steps to set the date and time.
NOTES:
Whenever you enter numbers, always press the letter key just to the
lower right of the number you want to enter.
To enter a single digit, press 0 first. The cursor moves to the next
space. For example, to enter the fifth month of the year (May),
press 0 then 5.
Enter the last two digits of the year for the year.
If you enter invalid digits (for example, 32 for the day), the
organizer flashes the first digit again after you enter the setting.
1. Press ON/OFF to turn on the organizer or press QUIT until the display
shows the date and time.
2. Press and hold EDIT until the left digit of the date flashes.
3. Press M/D to have the organizer display dates as month-day-year or
press D/M to display dates as day-month-year. Then enter the current
date and press ENTER.
NOTE: The organizer is preset to show dates as day-month-year. This
is how dates are written in many other countries. However, in
the United States, dates are usually shown as month-day-year.
4. Enter the time. Then press A or P to set the clock to AM or PM. AM
or PM appears on the display.
5. Use /\ and \/ to select the current day of the week.
6. When everything is set, press ENTER.
CHOOSING 12- OR 24-HOUR FORMAT
The organizer is preset to the 12-hour time format, but you can change it
to the 24-hour format. In the 12-hour format, AM or PM appears. To
change the format, press 12/24 while the time is displayed.
TURNING THE KEY TONE ON AND OFF
The organizer beeps each time you press a key.
To turn off the key tone, press the tone key when the organizer displays
the date and time. Press the tone key again to turn the key tone back on.
NOTE: When the key tone is turned off, the sound effects of Tetris and
the Sea Battle game are also turned off.
ADJUSTING THE DISPLAY CONTRAST
You can adjust the organizer's display contrast at any time.
Rotate CONTRAST upward to increase or downward to decrease the display
contrast.
ENTERING SPECIAL CHARACTERS
Your organizer lets you enter some special language characters into the
NAME? or MESSAGE? field when you select Infrared Beam, Scheduler, Things-
To-Do, Diary, Homework, or Phone Directory.
To enter such characters, press and release SHIFT, then repeatedly press
the corresponding key until the character you want appears on the display.
NOTE: To enter two or more of these characters in a row, enter one
character, then press > to move to the next character space and
enter the next character.
USING THE PHONE DIRECTORY
You can enter a person's name, address, and telephone number into each
telephone record and add a fun face next to it.
You can store up to 140 telephone records. Each phone number can be up to
10 digits and each name/address entry can be up to 64 characters.
To use the phone directory, choose PHONE DIRECTORY from the menu and press
ENTER.
ENTERING TELEPHONE RECORDS
1. Press RECORD. The organizer displays NAME?
2. Enter the person's name and any other information you want to keep
(such as an address).
NOTES:
Records are stored in alphabetical order. To make it easier to
search for records later, enter last names first.
If numbers are in the information, press and release SHIFT before
entering each number. Then press > to move to the next character
space before entering another number or letter.
3. Press the Face Button. A face flashes.
NOTE: If you do not want to add a fun face to the record, press
ENTER instead of the Face Button, then skip to Step 11.
4. Press \/. Then use < or > to choose the desired eyebrows. For a
girl, choose high eyebrows; for a boy, choose low eyebrows.
5. Press \/ again to select hair style. Use < or > to select a long or
short hair style.
6. Press \/ again to select the eyes. Use < or > to select one of four
choices.
7. Press \/ again to select the mouth. Use < or > to select one this is
smiling, laughing, or sad.
8. Press \/ again to select a face with or without dimples. Use < or >
to choose.
9. Press \/ again to see the result.
NOTE: To make a change, use the arrow keys to move through the
choices.
10. When you are happy with the face, press ENTER twice to store it. The
organizer displays TEL?
11. Enter the phone number, then press ENTER. The organizer displays
SEARCH.
NOTES:
You can only enter numbers and a dash when you are entering a phone
number. If you are including the area code, do not enter any dashes
because, if you do, you will run of room. You do not need to press
SHIFT before entering the numbers in this step.
If you want to add a face to a stored record, recall the record and
press EDIT, then follow Steps 3-10.
RECALLING TELEPHONE RECORDS
Choose PHONE DIRECTORY from the menu and press ENTER. The organizer
displays SEARCH. Use \/ to scroll through the telephone records
alphabetically from top to bottom, and /\ to scroll from bottom to top.
You can also search for a telephone record by a person's name. When the
organizer displays SEARCH, enter the first few letters (up to 8) of the
name you are looking for. The press \/. The organizer displays the first
record that starts with these letters.
NOTES:
If there is no matching record, the organizer displays the next entry
in alphabetical order.
If the record contains more text than will fit on the display, press
< or > to see the rest of the record.
EDITING TELEPHONE RECORDS
Follow these steps to change a telephone record.
1. Recall the telephone record you want to edit.
2. Press EDIT. The first letter of the name flashes.
3. Use < or > to select the character you want to edit. The selected
character flashes.
4. Press DELETE to delete the selected character, or enter new
characters in front of the selected character. Press ENTER when you
are finished. The first digit of the phone number flashes.
5. Enter the correct phone number over the old one. You can also delete
the whole number by press DELETE.
6. Press ENTER when you are finished editing.
DELETING TELEPHONE RECORDS
1. Recall the telephone record you want to delete.
2. Press DELETE. DEL? Y/N appears.
3. If you want to delete the record, press Y. Otherwise, press N.
DELETING A FUN FACE
1. Recall the telephone record and press EDIT.
2. Press the Face Button. The press \/ until the face disappears.
3. Repeatedly press ENTER until the organizer displays SEARCH. To
return to the time display, press QUIT.
USING THE SCHEDULER
You can use the scheduler to remind you of parties, meetings, and other
important events. Each reminder message can be up to 64 characters.
At the set scheduler alarm time, the organizer beeps for about 20 seconds,
and the stored message appears on the display. If the organizer is off at
the set time, the organizer turns itself on, beeps, and displays the
message.
To silence the organizer, press any key.
NOTES:
The organizer beeps when it reaches the set reminder time, even if
the daily alarm is turned off.
You must manually delete scheduler reminders from the organizer's
memory because they do not automatically disappear when the set time
has passed. See "Deleting Scheduler Records".
Since pressing any key silences the reminder alarm, the organizer
might not sound or display the message if you are entering
information when the scheduled time arrives.
If the organizer beeps and the reminder message appears while you are
entering information, that new information might not be stored.
ENTERING SCHEDULER RECORDS
1. Select SCHEDULER from the menu, then press ENTER. The organizer
displays SEARCH SCH.
2. Press RECORD. The organizer displays MESSAGE?
3. Enter your message (up to 64 characters), then press ENTER. The
organizer displays TIME? and the current time and date.
4. Enter the time and date of the event.
5. When everything is set, press ENTER. The organizer stores the
message and displays SEARCH SCH.
RECALLING SCHEDULER RECORDS
The organizer stores scheduler records chronologically, first by date and
then by the time of day, so the message with the earliest date appears
first. When the organizer displays SEARCH SCH, use /\ and \/ to scroll
through the scheduler records.
You can also search for a scheduler record by its date. While the
organizer displays SEARCH SCH, press ENTER. The organizer displays SEAR.
DATE. Enter the date of the message you are looking for. Then press
ENTER again. The organizer displays the first scheduler record for that
date.
NOTES:
If there is not a matching record, the organizer displays the next
entry in order by date.
If the record contains more text than will fit on the display, press
< or > to see the rest of the record.
EDITING SCHEDULER RECORDS
To change a scheduler record, follow these steps.
1. Recall the record you want to edit.
2. Press EDIT. The first letter of the message flashes.
3. Use < or > to select the letter you want to edit.
4. Press DELETE to delete a character, or enter a new characters in
front of the selected character.
5. Press ENTER when you are finished changing the message. The time and
date appear.
6. Change the time and date, if needed, and press ENTER when you are
finished. The organizer returns to SEARCH SCH.
DELETING SCHEDULER RECORDS
1. Recall the record you want to delete.
2. Press DELETE. The organizer displays DEL.? Y/N.
3. To delete a record, press Y. Otherwise, press N. The organizer
returns to SEARCH SCH. To return to the time display, press QUIT.
USING THE THINGS-TO-DO LIST
Your organizer gives you a convenient place to keep track of things you
have to do.
ENTERING THINGS-TO-DO RECORDS
1. Select THINGS-TO-DO from the menu, then press ENTER. The organizer
displays SEARCH.
2. Press RECORD. The organizer displays MESSAGE?.
3. Enter your message (up to 64 characters). Then press ENTER. The
organizer stores the message and displays SEARCH.
RECALLING THINGS-TO-DO RECORDS
The organizers stores things-to-do records in order of how you entered
them. The earliest record that you entered appears first. When the
organizer displays SEARCH, use /\ and \/ to scroll through the records.
NOTE: If the record contains more text than will fit on the display,
press < or > to see the rest of the record.
EDITING THINGS-TO-DO RECORDS
To change a things-to-do record, follow these steps.
1. Recall the record you want to edit.
2. Press EDIT. The first letter of the record flashes.
3. Use < or > to select the letter you want to edit.

of the selected character. Press ENTER when you are finished
changing the record. The organizer returns to SEARCH.

USING THE DIARY
Use the diary function to keep records of your daily activities.
ENTERING DIARY RECORDS
1. Select DIARY from the menu, then press ENTER. The organizer displays
SEARCH.
2. Press RECORD. The organizer displays MESSAGE?.
3. Enter your message (up to 64 characters). Then press ENTER. The
organizer stores the message and displays SEARCH.
RECALLING DIARY RECORDS
The organizer stores diary records in order of how you entered them. The
earliest record you entered appears first. When the organizer displays
SEARCH, use /\ and \/ to scroll through the records.
NOTE: If the record contains more text than will fit on the display,
press < or > to see the rest of the record.

USING THE HOMEWORK LIST
Your organizer lets you keep a handy list of your homework assignments.
ENTERING HOMEWORK RECORDS
1. Select HOMEWORK from the menu, then press ENTER. The organizer
displays SEARCH.
2. Press RECORD. The organizer displays MESSAGE?.
3. Enter your message (up to 64 characters). Then press ENTER. The
organizer stores the message and displays SEARCH.
RECALLING HOMEWORK RECORDS
The organizer stores homework records in order of how you entered them.
The earliest record you entered appears first. When the organizer
displays SEARCH, use /\ and \/ to scroll through the records.
NOTE: If the record contains more text than will fit on the display,
press < or > to see the rest of the record.
EDITING HOMEWORK RECORDS
To change a homework record, follow these steps.
1. Recall the record you want to edit.
2. Press EDIT. The first letter of the record flashes.
3. Use < or > to select the letter you want to edit.
4. Press DELETE to delete a character, or enter new characters in front
of the selected character. Press ENTER when you are finished. The
organizer returns to SEARCH.
DELETING HOMEWORK RECORDS
1. Recall the record you want to delete.
2. Press DELETE. The organizer displays DEL.? Y/N.
3. To delete the record, press Y. Otherwise, press N. The organizer
returns to SEARCH. To return to the time display, press QUIT.
USING THE SECRET PASSWORD
The organizer's secret password lets you keep others from reading your
phone, scheduler, things-to-do, diary, and homework records. When you set
a secret password, you must enter it before you can use any of these
functions.
LOCKING YOUR RECORDS
1. Choose SECRET PASSWORD, then press ENTER. LOCK appears.
2. Enter a 4-number secret password. Press ENTER again to store the
password.
CAUTION: Be sure to use a secret password you can remember. You can also
write the password down in a secret place. If you forget your
password, you must delete everything you stored (see "Resetting
the Memory") before you can use your organizer again.
UNLOCKING YOUR RECORDS
Once you set a secret password, you must enter your password to unlock the
organizer when you want to use the phone directory, scheduler, things-to
do list, diary, and homework list, or when you want to change or remove
the password.
When you have locked your records, UNLOCK appears on the display if you
choose, SCHEDULER, THINGS-TO-DO, DIARY, HOMEWORK, or PHONE DIRECTORY.
Enter your secret password and press ENTER to see your records.
You can also unlock your records at any time by choosing the SECRET
PASSWORD key and then entering your password.
NOTE: Once you unlock any of your records, all records are unlocked and
remain unlocked until you turn off the organizer or it
automatically turns off.
USING THE DAILY ALARM
When the daily alarm is on, the organizer beeps for 20 seconds at the set
time. Press any key to silence the alarm before it automatically stops
beeping. The alarm sounds at the same time the next day, unless you turn
it off.
NOTE:
The alarm sounds even when the organizer is off. At the set alarm
time, it turns on, beeps, and displays the day, date, and alarm.
Since pressing any key turns off the alarm, the alarm might not sound
if you enter information precisely at the set alarm time.
1. To use the daily alarm, choose ALARM from the menu and press ENTER.
ALARM? appears on the display.
2. Press and hold EDIT until the first digit of the time flashes.
NOTE: o appears beside the alarm time when the alarm is turned on.
3. Enter the desired alarm time. Be sure to set AM or PM by pressing A
or P.
4. Press ENTER when you finish setting the alarm time. The organizer
returns to the current time and date.
To turn off the alarm, choose ALARM from the menu and press ENTER. Then
press the Tone Button. o disappears from the display. TO turn on the
alarm again, press the Tone Button.
USING THE CALCULATOR
To use the calculator, choose CALCULATOR in the menu and press ENTER.
For standard calculations, press the keys in the order the calculation
appears on paper. For example, press 2 + 3 =. The answer appears after
you press =.
For square calculations, such as 4 squared, press 4 x =.
NOTES:
If you enter the wrong operator symbol (+, -, x, /), simply press the
correct one to replace it.
Press C/CE once to cancel the last entry. To clear the display for
the next calculation, press C/CE twice.
If you try to make an invalid calculation (like dividing by zero),
the calculator displays E. Press C/CE twice and start your
calculation over.
