BASIC OPERATION
SELECTING MODES
Your organizer has nine mode keys.
Press a key to select a mode.
NOTE: In any operation, if you do not press a key within about 3 minutes,
your EC-377 automatically returns to the date and time display.
SETTING THE DATE AND TIME
NOTES: To enter a single digit, press 0 first. For example, to enter the
fifth month of the year (May), press 0 then 5.
Enter the last two digits of the year for the year.
If you enter invalid digits (for example, 32 for the day), the organizer
flashes the first letter again after you enter the setting.
1. Press SYSTEM SETTINGS. The organizer displays the system settings menu.
2. Press 1 (SET DATE AND TIME).
3. Enter the current month, date, and year.
4. Enter the hour and minute.
5. Press A or P to set the clock to AM or PM.
6. Press RETURN to store the date and time.
To view the day, date, and time at any time, press CLOCK.
USING THE KEY TONE
You can set your EC-377 to beep each time you press a key. Follow these
steps to turn the key tone on or off.
1. Press SYSTEM SETTINGS. The organizer displays the system settings menu.
2. Press 2 (KEYSTONE ON/OFF).
3. To turn on the key tone, press 1. To turn off the key tone, press 2.
4. Press any mode key to exit.
ADJUSTING THE DISPLAY CONTRAST
You can adjust the organizer's display contrast at any time.
1. Press SYSTEM SETTINGS. The organizer displays the system settings menu.
2. Press 3 (DISPLAY CONTRAST).
3. Press > or < to increase or decrease the display contrast.
4. Press any mode key to exit.
STORAGE CAPACITY
All records share the same memory. Each letter, number, space or other
character you store uses 1 memory unit. For example, the word COMPANY has 7
letters and therefore uses 7 units. Your EC-377 can store a total of 128,214
units of information in the Card File, Confidential File, To Do List & Sche-
dule, and Daily Alarms. This overall storage capacity includes some memory
overhead for each file. The overhead amount varies with the file type.
To view the amount of memory remaining, press CARD FILE. The organizer
displays the number of available memory units for all functions.

NOTES: As the amount of memory units available decreases, your EC-377
takes longer to store files.
If enough storage space is not available to store another record,
the organizer displays:
MEMORY IS FULL!

PRESS ANY MODE KEY
You must delete outdated records to free additional storage space. See
"Deleting a Record" on Faxback Doc. # 35211.
DATA ENTRY TIPS
Use Card File to store contacts' names, company names, phone numbers, fax
numbers, addresses, and any additional information.
Your EC-377 sorts and recalls records by the first few characters in the
person's/company's name. If you want to recall records in alphabetical
order by last name, enter the person's last name first.
Use Confidential File to store data you want to keep private.
Use Daily Alarms to set an alarm to sound daily or on a particular day.
Use To Do List & Schedule to record appointments and special events, and
set an alarm to sound as a reminder.
Using abbreviations lets you store more files.
Press SPACE to enter a space.
Press EDIT/BKSP to erase the last character entered.
Press RETURN to start a new line.
You can enter a hyphen (-), (#), or (*) in the phone and fax numbers, as
necessary.
USING THE CURSOR/ARROW KEYS
The flashing "-" on the screen is called a "cursor." The cursor shows where
the next character typed will appear.

Use these keys to move the cursor:
< left
> right
\/ end of the next line
/\ end of the previous line
NOTE: Hold down an arrow key to move the cursor rapidly.
When no cursor appears on the display, use these same keys to move
through the records.
< displays the previous record
> displays the next record
\/ scrolls down line-by-line
/\ scrolls up line-by-line
Press NEXT to move forward through a record one screen at a time, and LAST
to move backward.
NOTE: Hold down an arrow key or the NEXT or LAST keys to move through
the records rapidly.
