TRANSFERRING DATA BETWEEN ORGANIZERS
NOTES:
You must first prepare the receiving unit to accept data and then
immediately transmit data from the transmitting unit.
All tranmitted data is stored in the receiving unit only if memory
space is available. Data transfer does not overwrite previously stored
records.
Do not move the directories during data transfer. If you do, the data
transmission might be interrupted and data transmitted will not be
stored. ERROR appears in the receiving unit's display.
To transmit data, place the two units next to each other, about 1/4 to
1/2 inch apart. The IR TRANSMIT window on the sending unit should be
aligned with the IR RECEIVE window on the receiving unit.
Follow these steps to transmit data.
1. Place the transmitting unit on the right and the receiving unit on the
left.
2. On the transmitting unit, press PHONE, SCHED, MEMO, or TODO to select
the data you want to transmit.
NOTE: All records from the selected area will be transmitted. To
transmit an individual record, press SEARCH and down arrow to
recall the desired record.
3. On the transmitting unit, press LINK.TX.RX.? (T/R) appears.
4. On the receiving unit, press the button to select the same mode
(PHONE, SCHED, MEMO, TODO) you chose in Step 2.
5. On the receiving unit, press LINK.TX.RX.? (T/R) appears.
6. On the receiving unit, press R.1.IR. 2.CABLE appears.
7. On the receiving unit, press 1 for infrared transmission. RECEIVING
appears.
8. On the sending unit, press T to start the transmission. TRANSMIT...

If there is a delay of more than 8 seconds, the receiving unit
displays ERROR for 2 seconds.
To cancel the transmission, press C/CE on the transmitting unit.

On most CPUs a 9-25 pin adapter as well as a 9-9 Null Modem Adapter which
fits on a Datalink cable is needed. The software automatically configures
to a Series B type of organizer while the EC-379 is a Series A type. For
higher speed modems you may receive errors. Therefore, from DOS, type the
following command--
C:MODE COM1:2400,N,8,1
This will allow the Datalink to respond. Make sure it is connected to the
correct COM port. If you are on COM2, replace the MODE COM1 with
MODE COM2, etc.
