EC-364 (650-0833) Secret Memory Area Faxback Doc. # 3525
If you store telephone directory, schedule, and memo data in the Secret
Memory Area, no one can view this information without entering the right
password. A password can be up to 16 characters long. With the correct
password, you can transfer data back and forth between the Secret Memory
Area and the Open Memory Area.
To create a Secret Memory Area:
1. On the main menu, highlight the Secret Memory Area icon (SYMBOL).
Press EXE.
2. Type in a password. A password can be composed of up to 16
characters, numbers, or symbols. Choose a password that is easy for
you to remember, but hard for others to guess; you'll want to write it
down elsewhere, so you don't forget it.
Important Note!
You can have only one password at a time. Be sure to keep a record of
your password: If you forget it, you'll need to perform a secret-reset
operation before you can create a new one. The secret-reset operation
deletes all data stored in the Secret Memory Area! So it can be very
inconvenient to forget your password!
3. Press EXE.
4. Return to the Open Memory Area by highlighting the Secret Memory Area
icon in the main menu, then pressing EXE. The Secret Memory Area
indicator (SYMBOL) will disappear from the display.
To enter the Secret Memory Area, follow the same procedure we just used to
create the Secret Memory Area. If you use the wrong password, the
message, "Password Mismatch!" will appear on the display, and the password
input screen will reappear.
Once you're in the Secret Memory Area, you can do everything just as you
would in the Open Memory Area. But all of the information you enter
stored in the Secret Memory Area, is available only to those who know
the password.
To leave the Secret Memory Area, follow Step 4 in "To create a Secret
Memory Area," above.
To change your password:
1. Enter the Secret Memory Area.
2. Press FUNCTION. Use DOWN ARROW to highlight "Password Change."
Press EXE.
3. Type in a new password, then press EXE. "Password Registered!"
appears on the display, then the menu appears.
To transfer data from the Open Memory Area to the Secret Memory Area:
1. Bring up the information you wish to transfer, from a Schedule, Data
Memo "Diary," Telephone Directory, etc.
2. Press FUNCTION. Then use UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW to highlight
"Open <-> Secret." Press EXE. "Password?" appears on the display.
3. Enter your password, then press EXE.
4. When the data transfer is complete, the Secret Memory Area screen
appears, showing the "SYMBOL" indicator.
To transfer data from the Secret Memory Area to the Open Memory Area, use
the same procedure as above. Secret Sender will not, however, ask for
your password as part of the process. After your data has been
transferred to the Open Memory Area, the display will change to show that
area, and the "SYMBOL" indicator will not be displayed anymore.
