You can use Radio Shack's Cat. No. 65-137 Data Communication Cable to
connect My Magic Diary to another My Magic Diary unit, or to an EC-364
(Cat. No.65-833). Data can be shared between the EC-363 and the EC-364.

Calendar Replaces existing data. If a received month
has no highlighting, the highlighting data in
the receiving unit is retained.
Important!
Some of the other products with which My Magic Diary can exchange data may
use different icons, or they may not have a Fun Face Maker function. When
you send My Magic Diary data to one of these units, icon and Fun Face
Maker data are not sent.
Basic hardware set-up for data communication:
1. Switch off the power of both the sending and receiving units.
2. Remove the connector covers of both units.
3. Connect the two units with a Radio Shack Cat. No. 65-137 Data
Communication Cable. Be sure to insert the connectors at the ends of
the cable securely into the units.
4. Switch on the power of both sending and receiving units.
To prepare one unit to receive:
1. On the unit intended for reception, while in the main menu or a data
display, press FUNCTION. Then use DOWN ARROW to highlight
"Communication." Press EXE.
2. Use UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW to highlight "Receive Data." Press EXE.
About the "Set up" Menu Item
You will probably notice that the menu appears on the display after you
select "Communication" from the function menu and press EXE. The "Set up"
item contained in that menu is used for setting the parameters of the
My Magic Diary. Note that the parameters should always be set to "None"
(Parity) and "9600" (BPS) for data communications between two units.
Sending Data for a Specific Mode
You can send either a single data item (the smallest packet of data which
can be sent in the Calendar Mode, for example, is a single month), or all
the data items sorted in a specific mode. Different procedures are used
to send all the data in a mode, depending on whether you start from within
that mode, or from the main menu.
To send one data item:
1. Enter the mode that contains the data; then search for and display the
data you wish to send.
2. Press FUNCTION. Then use DOWN ARROW to highlight "Communication."
Press EXE.
3. Use UP ARROW to highlight "Send Data." Press EXE.
4. Use UP ARROW to highlight "1 Data." Press EXE.
5. Use LEFT ARROW to highlight "Yes." Then press EXE. This begins data
transfer to the receiving unit.
6. After the transmission has been completed, the data display for the
item sent will appear on the screen.
To send all the data in a mode, starting from within that mode:
1. Enter the mode that contains the data you want to send. Then press UP
ARROW or DOWN ARROW to display the data for that mode.
2. Press FUNCTION. Then use DOWN ARROW to highlight "Communication."
Press EXE.
3. Use UP ARROW to highlight "Send Data." Press EXE.
4. Use UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW to highlight "Mode Data." Press EXE.
5. Use LEFT ARROW to highlight "Yes." Then, press EXE. This begins data
transfer to the receiving unit.
6. After the transmission has been completed, the data display for the
item sent will appear on the screen.
To send all the data in a mode, starting from the main menu:
1. Start from the main menu.
2. Press FUNCTION. Then use DOWN ARROW to highlight "Communication."
Press EXE.
3. Use UP ARROW to highlight "Send Data." Press EXE.
4. Use UP ARROW to highlight "Mode Data." Press EXE.
5. Use UP ARROW and DOWN ARROW to select the name of the mode from which
data you wish to send. Press EXE.
6. Use LEFT ARROW to highlight "Yes." Then press EXE. This begins data
transfer to the receiving unit.
7. After the transmission has been completed, the main menu will
reappear.
Sending All Data
Important!
The following procedure sends either all Open Memory Area data or all
Secret Memory Area data. Before starting to transmit, be sure to access
the memory area (Open or Secret) which contains data you wish to send.
To send all data:
1. Begin from either the main menu or from a data display
(Telephone Directory, Schedule, Data Memo "Diary", or Calendar).
2. Press FUNCTION. Then use DOWN ARROW to highlight "Communication."
Press EXE.
3. Use UP ARROW to highlight "Send Data." Press EXE.
4. Use DOWN ARROW to highlight "All Data." Press EXE.
5. Use LEFT ARROW to highlight "Yes." Then press EXE. This begins data
transfer to the receiving unit.
6. After the transmission has been completed, the display you started
from will reappear.
Data Communication Error Messages
Error messages will appear, and data communication will be interrupted,
when any of the following conditions occur. If this happens, press AC to
clear the message and take the appropriate action.
Message Cause
Stopped! Low Battery power in the sending unit.
No data stored in the sending unit.
Data communication interrupted by operation
of the receiving unit's AC key.
Not enough memory in the receiving unit.
Main Battery Low battery power.
Getting Weak!
Replace it!
Receive Error! Data communication interrupted by operation
of the sending unit's AC key.
Connector disconnected.
No data transferred for more than one minute
after the receiving unit starts to stand by to
receive data.
Memory Full! Not enough memory in the receiving unit.
Send Error! Low battery power in the receiving unit.
Connector disconnected.
No Record! No data stored in the sending unit's memory.

address, etc.). Each item can contain up to 380 characters with a Fun

Storage and recall of appointments for any date in the range of January
1901 through December 2099. Each item can contain up to 372 characters
with an icon. Includes secret memory area and auto sort function.
Calendar Mode
Full-month calendars in the range of January 1901 through December 2099.
Includes highlighting of important dates and holidays.
Data Memo "Diary" Mode
Storage and recall of memos. Each item can contain up to 381 characters.
Includes secret memory area and auto sort function.
Timekeeping Mode
Average of accuracy +/-3 seconds per day under normal temperatures; Home
Time (year/month/date, AM/PM, day of the week, city name, daylight
saving/standard time); World Time; full automatic calendar; 12/24 hour
timekeeping format.
Alarm Mode
Daily Alarm (20-second electronic buzzer); Schedule Alarm (20-second
electronic buzzer); Hourly Time Signal (beeps every hour on the hour).
Conversion Mode
Six built-in conversion pairs (4-character unit name + 10 digit rate;
user-definable).
Fortune Telling Mode
Fortune telling on any date from January 1, l901 to December 31, 2099.
Match Maker Mode
Compatibility of any two people whose birthdays are from January 1, 1901
to December 31, 2099.
Calculator Mode
10-digit arithmetic calculations; constant calculations; memory
calculations; 20-digit approximations; percentage calculations; square
roots; sign changes; function command signs.
