TURNING ON/OFF THE KEY TONE

When the key tone is on, your EC-373 beeps each time you press a key.  To 
turn the key tone on or off, press and hold SPACE and then press K. 

SETTING THE DATE AND TIME

1.  Press ENTER.  The display shows. 

2.  Press DATE TIME.  The display shows: 

3.  Enter the date and time. 

4.  Enter the date and time. 

5.  Press RETURN to store the date and time. 

NOTES:  In any mode if you do not press a key within about 3 minutes, your
        EC-373 automatically returns to the date and time display. 

        Check your daily alarms when CHECK YOUR DAILY ALARMS appears on the
        display (see "Daily Alarms").  You can clear this message by
        pressing any key. 

STORAGE CAPACITY

Each letter, number, space or other character you store uses 1 memory unit.
For example, the word COMPANY has 7 letters and therefore uses 7 units.
Your EC-373 can store a total of 32,000 units of information in the card
file and reminder notes.  This overall storage capacity includes some
memory overhead for each file.  The overhead amount varies with the file
type.

To view the amount of memory remaining, press CARD FILE. The number of 
available memory units for all functions appears on the display. 

NOTE:  FULL appears on the display if no storage space is available. 
       Delete card records or reminder note records to free additional 
       storage space.  See "Deleting a Record." 

DATA ENTRY TIPS

Use the Card File to store individuals' names, company names, phone
numbers, fax numbers, addresses, and any additional information.

    Use the To Do List & Schedule to record a list of things to do and 
    miscellaneous messages. 

    Press SPACE to enter a space. 

    Press EDIT/BKS to erase the last character entered. 

    Press RETURN <- to start a new line. 

NOTE:  You can enter a hyphen (-) in the phone and fax numbers, as
       necessary.

USING THE CURSOR/ARROW KEYS

The _ on the screen is called a "cursor."  The cursor shows where the next
character will be inserted.

When a cursor appears on the display, use these keys to move the cursor to 
the right or left along a text line, and up or down to other text lines. 

    LEFT ARROW moves the cursor to the left 

    RIGHT ARROW moves the cursor to the right 

    DOWN ARROW moves the cursor to the end of the next line 

    UP ARROW moves the cursor to the end of the previous line 

NOTE:  Hold down a cursor key to move the cursor rapidly. 

When no cursor appears on the display, use these same keys to move through 
the records. 

    LEFT ARROW displays the previous record 

    RIGHT ARROW displays the next record 

    DOWN ARROW scrolls down line-by-line 

NOTE:  Hold down a key to move through the records rapidly.

Press NEXT to move forward through a record one screen at a time, and LAST 
to move backward through a record one screen at a time. 

USING THE CARD FILE 

Each card record can hold up to 62 lines of information.  The maximum
length for the person's name is 24 characters; the company's name, 24 
characters; the phone number, 19 digits; and the fax number, 19 digits. 
You can use the remaining 58 lines for any additional information you want 
to enter.

For example:

This record uses about 100 memory units, including spaces, punctuation, 
and overhead.  You could enter about 320 records of this length. 

NOTES:  The EC-373 sorts and recalls records by the first few characters 
        in the person's company's name.  If you want to recall records in 
        alphabetical order by last name, enter the person's last name 
        first. 

Using abbreviations lets you store more files.

ENTERING CARD FILES

1.  Press ENTER.  The display shows:

3.  Enter the name you want to store. 

Press RETURN.

NOTES:  Your EC-373 sorts records by both the person's and the company's 
        name. 

        If you do not want to enter a company name, telephone number, fax 
        number, or any additional information, press ENTER at any time to 
        store the information. 

4.  Enter the company's name.  Press RETURN. 

5.  Enter the telephone number(s) you want to store.  Press RETURN. 

6.  Enter the fax number(s).  Press RETURN. 

7.  Enter the address or any other information you want to store. 

8.  Press ENTER.  Your EC-373 stores the record. 

To store more records, repeat Steps 3-8.

RECALLING CARD FILES

You can recall card file records by rotary or index recall.

Rotary Recall

Press CARD FILE and turn the rotary knob on the side of the directory 
forward or backward to review the card file.  Hold the knob forward or 
backward to quickly "flip through" your card file records in alphanumeric 
order. 

Index Recall

1.  Press CARD FILE. 

2.  If you want to scroll through the records in alphanumeric order, press 
    LEFT ARROW or RIGHT ARROW. 

    If you want to recall a specific record, enter the first few letters 
    of the person's or company's name.  After about 2 seconds, the EC-373 
    displays the first card file record that starts with the character(s) 
    you entered. 

NOTE:  If no record starts with the letters you typed, a ? and NO FILE 
       MATCH PLEASE TRY AGAIN appear on the display. 

3.  If the record is longer than six lines, press DOWN ARROW to move down 
    or UP ARROW to move up through the record one line at a time.  Press 
    NEXT to move down through the record one screen at a time or last to 
    move up one screen at a time. 

EDITING CARD FILES

1.  Recall the card file record you want to change. 

2.  Press EDIT/BKS.  The cursor appears in the display's top line to the 
    right of the last character.  Use the arrow keys to move the cursor 
    immediately to the right of the character(s) you want to change. 

3.  Press EDIT/BKS.  The character to the of the cursor is deleted.  Press 
    EDIT/BKS repeatedly to backspace and delete more characters, if 
    necessary. 

4.  Enter new characters. 

NOTES:  To add more lines to the middle of the additional information in a 
        record, move the cursor to where you want additional lines and 
        press RETURN to insert a new line.  Then enter the additional 
        information. 

        To enter additional lines at the end of a record, press DOWN ARROW 
        repeatedly to move to the end of the record.  Then press RETURN 
        and enter the new information. 

5.  Press ENTER to save your changes to the record. 

DELETING CARD FILES

1.  Press CARD FILE and recall the record you want to delete by pressing 
    LEFT ARROW or RIGHT ARROW repeatedly until the desired record appears 
    on the display's top line. 

2.  Press DELETE.  DELETE FILE? Y/N appears on the display. 

3.  Press Y to delete the record or N to cancel. 

USING THE DAILY ALARMS

You can set an alarm for the same time every day or for a specific time 
and date. 

When the set alarm time is reached, the EC-373 sounds an alarm for 1 minute
and the Daily Alarm Index appears on the display.  You can press any key to
stop the alarm.  Press DATE TIME to clear the display. 

If you do not stop the alarm, the EC-373 displays CHECK YOUR DAILY ALARMS. 
To clear the message, press any key, then recall the daily alarm (see 
"Recalling Daily Alarms"). 

ENTERING DAILY ALARMS

1.  Press enter.  The display shows:

3.  Follow the instructions on the display to enter a daily alarm or an 
    alarm at a specific date/time. 

NOTES:  You must use double-digit numbers for dates and times.  For
        example, to enter the date and time for June 14, 1996, at 1:15 in 
        the afternoon, you would type 06141996 for the date and 0115 for 
        the time followed by a P (for PM). 

        If you enter an invalid date or time, the blank entry screen 
        reappears. 

4.  Press RETURN.  The alarm time is stored and the Daily Alarm Index 
    appears, showing the alarm entries for the current day. 

RECALLING DAILY ALARMS

1.  Press DAILY ALARMS.  The Daily Alarm Index appears on the display. 

    NOTE:  If there are no alarms set, a blank Daily Alarm Index appears. 

2.  Press UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW to review all of the scheduled alarm 
    times in chronological order. 

NOTE:  To view To Do List & Schedule records for the date of the alarm 
       (see "Using the To Do List & Schedule Records"), press RETURN, then 
       TO DO LIST & SCHEDULE. 

DELETING AN ALARM

1.  Recall the alarm you want delete.  Press UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW 
    repeatedly until the alarms time (and date) appear on the display's 
    top line. 

2.  Press DELETE.  DELETE FILE? Y/N appears on the display.

3.  Press Y to delete the record or N to cancel. 

Privacy Policy
