You can use the EC-359 to do standard arithmetic calculations, as well as
memory, square root, and percent calculations.
Press CALC/CE to begin using the calculator. The calculator screen appears
with the following information.
MEMORY -- indicates the value in memory
Epsilon sign-- indicates the sum of the calculation
ITEM NO: -- indicates the total number of calculation lines (up to 120)
Press CALC/CE to cancel the last entry. To clear the display for the next
calculation, repeatedly press CALC/CE.
NOTE: If the result of a calculation is longer than 10 digits, or if you
attempt to divide by 0, OVERFLOW ! appears. Press CALC/CE. ERROR
appears on both sides. Then press CALC/CE again to clear the
display.
CALCULATION TIPS
Press division sign (per addendum) to do division calculations, the
division symbol appears on the display.
If you enter the wrong function symbol (+.-.x, or division), simply
press the correct one to replace it.
Press the solid ^ to scroll backward or the solid v to scroll forward
through the calculations one line at a time (up to 120 lines).
Press ^ (LAST) or v (NEXT) to scroll backward or
forward through each page of calculations.
STANDARD CALCULATIONS
For standard calculations, press the keys in the order they appear in the
arithmetic operation. For example:
You press: You see:
3 + 4 = 7.
8 X 3 - 4 = 20.
6 divide by 3 + 2 4.
SQUARE CALCULATIONS
Here's how to perform square calculations.
What is 4 squared?
You press: You see:
4x= 16.
MEMORY CALCULATIONS
The memory calculation feature lets you easily do multi-step calculations.
For memory calculations, press:
MC to clear the memory.
MR to recall (display) the value in the memory.
M- to total a calculation and subtract the total from memory.
M+ to total a calculation and add the total to memory.
For example:
You press: You see:
4 x 5 M+ M+ 20.
28 + 2 M+ M+ 30.
7 - 2 M- M- 5.
75 divide by 5 M+ M+ 15.
MR MR 60.
PERCENT CALCULATIONS
Perform percent calculations as shown in the following examples.
What is 12 percent of 150?
You press: You see:
150 x 12% % 18.
What percentage of 880 is 660?
You press: You see:
660 divide by 880% % 75.
What do you get when you subtract 3 percent from 120?
You press: You see:
120 - 3% % 116.4
What do you get when you add 3 percent to 120?
You press: You see:
120 - 3% % 123.6
