equipment required to run PCLink:
Hardware Requirements:

-Minimum 2 MB free hard disk space available
-5 1/4" or 3 1/2" floppy disk drive
-Parallel printer port
-Electronic ROLODEX File

Installing PCLink Program
To install the PCLink program on your computer, insert the PCLink diskette
into drive A: or drive B:.
Next, from the C: prompt (or the drive which you plan to use for PCLink),
create a directory for the PCLink program. The following example created a
directory called PCLink, and then copies the PCLink program from the floppy
drive into the created directory:
MD PCLINK
CD PCLINK
A:INSTALL or B:INSTALL, depending on which floppy drive you are using.
The Install file is a 'compressed' file that contains all of the PCLink
files. When you enter INSTALL the PCLink program files are placed into the
PCLink directory.
Configuration
The first time that you use the PCLink program you will asked for the con-
figuration of your system. The configuration you set up will then be saved
and used whenever you start PCLink.
The first time you type PCLINK and press <ENTER>, the program will display:
PCLink needs to be configured
Please answer the following questions
OK
Press <ENTER> if you would like to proceed, otherwise press <ESC>.
First you will be asked what part you are using for the Infrared Interface.
Choose the correct port using the < and > cursor keys and press <ENTER>.
The computer will then ask what type of monitor you have, choose the
correct type and press <ENTER>.
After you have answered the configuration questions, the PCLink Main Menu
will appear.
If you need to change the configuration to select a different printer port,
for example, you must delete the file called PCLINK.CFG. Then, the next
time you enter PCLink, you will be asked to configured your system again.
Infrared Interface
The Infrared interface is the link between the PC and The Electronic
ROLODEX File. It is used to transfer information between the computer and
the Electronic ROLODEX File. The 25 pin connector at one end of the cable
must connect to the correct PARALLEL printer port. The Infrared Interface
plugs into a 25 pin FEMALE connector, on the back of the PC. The housing
with the infrared interface must be positioned next to the Electronic
ROLODEX File (see Downloading and Uploading).
NOTE: If you are using any kind of adapter cable to make the Infrared
Interface connector fit the connector on the back of the PC, it is
NOT a PARALLEL printer port, but possibly a SERIAL port (COM 1, 2, 3
or 4), and this simply will NOT work. You may use an A/B switch box
to connect the Infrared Interface and an existing printer to the
same parallel printer port, as long as it is a 'metallic' type, and
not an electronic printer buffer. If the Infrared cable works prop-
erly when connected directly to the PC, but does not work when conn-
ected to the switch box, it probably is not a 'metallic' type and
cannot be used.
