SETTING/VIEWING THE TIME AND DATE

The EC-353 displays the time, month, date, and day of the week.

NOTES: You can display the time in 12- or 24-hour format. In the 12-hour
format, A (for AM) or P (for PM) appears in the lower left corner
of the display. In the 24-hour format, hours are numbered 0:00
through 23:59 (for example, 1:00 PM appears as 13:00).

The time format you choose determines the date format. In the 12-
hour format, the month appears first (for example, March 5 appears
as 03/05). In the 24-hour format, the date appears first (for
example, March 5 appears as 05/03).

If you enter invalid characters (for example, 15 for the month),
the display returns to the previous date and time setting and the
cursor returns to the date's first digit, so you can enter a date
        and time again.

You must press 0 before single-digit numbers.

Follow these steps to set the date and time.

1. Press CLOCK SYMBOL. The display shows a time and date.

    display in the 12-hour format.)

3. Press SET to change the date and time. The first date digit flashes.

4. Enter the date. If you selected the 12-hour format, enter the month
first. If you selected the 24-hour format, enter the date first.

For example, enter March 5 as:

    12-hour format: 03/05

    24-hour format: 05/03

After you enter the date, the first hour digit flashes.

5. Enter the hour and minutes. For example, enter 1:00 PM as:

    12-hour format: 01 00

    24 hour format: 13 00

After you enter the time, the cursor returns to the date's first digit.

       digit.

        if the EC-353 is off.

Because pressing any key turns off the alarm, the alarm might not
sound if you are entering information at the alarm time.

Setting the Daily Alarm Time

NOTES: You must press 0 before any single-digit numbers.

If you enter invalid characters (for example, 25 for the hour), the

returns to the first hour digit, so you can enter the daily alarm

USING RECORDS

CHECKING THE MEMORY CAPACITY

To see how much storage space is available, press STORE. The remaining
space available (shown as memory units) appears in brackets.

NOTES: Your data directory has 20,000 memory units (MU) available before
you start storing records. Each record uses 8 MU, plus 2 MU for
each character and 1 MU for each digit.

FULL appears on the display if no storage space is available. You
can delete some telephone/business card records to free up storage
space. See "Deleting Telephone/Business Card Records."

To get the most from your data directory's storage space, use
        abbreviations where possible.

DATA ENTRY TIPS

Records are retrieved by the first few letters on the first line, so
you might want to enter a contact's last name first.

Press SPACE to enter a space.

Press ERASE to erase the last character entered.

Press CLOCK SYMBOL at any time to clear the display and return to the

6. Repeat Steps 1-5 to enter more telephone/business card records.

Recalling Telephone/Business Card Records

The EC-353 stores telephone/business card records in alphanumeric order.

NOTE: Numbers come before letters in this type of order, so if you have
records that begin with digits, the EC-353 stores these records
        first.

Follow these steps to recall a telephone/business card record.

1. Press CLOCK SYMBOL. The display shows the time and date.

2. Press RECALL. ENTER INITIAL appears on the display.

3. Enter up to three of the first characters in the record you want to

Editing Telephone/Business Card Records

You can update the information in your records as needed. However, you
cannot enter more characters in either part of a record than the number of

characters, you must delete the record and then re-enter it (see "Deleting

sounds for 20 seconds.

NOTES: The scheduler shares memory capacity with telephone/business card
records (see "Checking the Memory Capacity").

If the EC-353 is off, it automatically turns on at the scheduled
        alarm time.

To silence the EC-353, press any key.

Because pressing any key turns off the alarm, the alarm might not
sound and the alarm message might not appear if you enter

and the cursor returns to the date's first digit.

5. Enter the reminder message you want the display to show at the
    scheduled alarm time.

NOTE: You must enter a message, or the scheduled alarm will not be
           set.

viewing from the earliest schedule reminder.
