INSTALLING/REPLACING THE BATTERIES

The EC-348 is powered by 4 AA batteries.  For best performance and longest
life, we recommend alkaline batteries, such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-552.

CAUTIONS:  You should always keep a written record of all important names
           and numbers.  All electronic devices are subject to possible
           data loss.

           To prevent losing the information stored in the EC-348, do not
           press any button while you replace the batteries.

1.  Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw on the battery
    compartment.

2.  Press and pull the tab on the cover and remove it.

3.  Insert the batteries, as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -)
    marked inside the compartment.

4.  Replace the cover.  Secure it with the screw.

When the display dims, replace the alkaline batteries.

BACKUP BATTERY

The EC-348 also has a backup battery.  When the main batteries are dead or
removed, you cannot operate the data bank; however, the backup battery
protects your stored data from loss.

The backup battery lasts about 10 years and is not user-serviceable.  Take
the EC-348 to your local Radio Shack store to arrange for servicing
(backup battery replacement).
