EC-442 (650-0847) Calculator Faxback Doc. # 15806

The EC-442 also performs mathematical operations. Enter the calculator
mode and use it as you would any other calculator.

Calculator Mode Keys

Press CLEAR to clear the calculator display.

Press the number keys to enter values. Use the operation keys (+, -, x,
or /), decimal point KEY, and equal key in the order you would write the
problem on paper.

Press the operation key (+, -, x, or /) twice to store the value that
follows as a constant.

       Example: 20 + + 54 = 74
                          = 94

Memory Operator Keys

MC: clears the memory contents.

MR: recalls the current memory contents.

M-: completes the pending calculation (if any) and subtracts the displayed
     value from the memory contents.

M+: completes the pending calculation (if any) and adds the displayed
     value to the memory contents.

      Example: MC 80 x 9 M+ M 720.
                  50 x 6 M- M 300.
                  20 x 3 M+ M 60.
                         MR M 480

Corrections

Press the orange C to clear the value you just entered.

To correct a wrong operator entry, just press the correct operator key.

Press AC to clear an entire calculation.

Press RIGHT SYMBOL to shift the displayed value to the right one place.
You can use this to correct the last digit of your entry.

Errors

When E (Error) appears on the display, one of the following has occurred:

The calculation result is greater than 10 digits. In this case, the
display shows the 10 most significant digits of the result. The true
decimal point of the result is 10 places to the right of the decimal
    position shown in this display.

The value of an accumulated memory total is greater than 10 digits.

NOTE: The previously accumulated total remains in memory. For example, if
the memory contains 7,894,253,265 and you multiply it by 26, an
error occurs. But 7,894,253,265 is still in the calculator's
memory, and you can press C to clear the error and continue to use
       the memory figure.

       Division by zero.

Press C to clear errors and continue with the same calculation. If you
want to clear the calculation and start again, press AC.

Date Calculations

The EC-442 can calculate the number of days within a time range and
determine dates. You can specify a range between January 1, 1901 and
December 31, 2099. If you try to use dates outside this range, E appears
on the display. You can also use constant and memory functions in date
calculations.

Calculating the Number of Days Between Two Dates

How many days between December 5, 1993 and July 3, 1995?

1. Enter the calculator mode.

2. Enter 95, DATE/TIME, 07, DATE/TIME, 03.

3. Press -. Then enter 93, DATE/TIME, 12, DATE/TIME, 05

4. Press =.

Determining the Date a Specified Number of Days After a Date

What date is 300 days from December 20, 1994?

1. Enter the calculator mode.

2. Enter 1994, DATE/TIME, 12, DATE/TIME, 20.

3. Press +. Then enter the number of days (300).

4. Press =.
