Handheld Portable Cellular Telephone
SETTING THE SYSTEM PRIORITY
Each cellular service area can have two cellular service suppliers called
carriers. The two carriers are designated as Types A and B. The CT-350
works with any two carriers that you subscribe to.
The system priority feature lets you set the phone for the best possible
operation when you are in or out of your home system area.
The four possible settings are as follows:
HOME AREA - With this setting, the phone communicates only with the
cellular carrier you subscribe to in your home area. You
cannot roam with the "HOME AREA" setting.
HOME TYPE A (or B) - With this setting, the phone can communicate only
with the same type of system (A or B) that your home
system uses.
NONHOME TYPE A (or B) - With this setting, the phone can communicate only
with the opposite type of system (A or B) from the
system in your home area.
BOTH SYSTEMS - With this setting, the phone tries to communicate with your
home system first and, if it cannot, it tries to
communicate with the non-home system. The cellular carrier
you subscribe to uses the home system, which can be either.
Type A or B.
HINTS:
-We recommend the "HOME AREA" setting when you are in your home service
area and that you use either the HOME TYPE or NONHOME setting when you
are roaming.
-We recommend the "BOTH SYSTEMS" setting only if you frequently travel
from one service area to another. Otherwise, if you travel through a
weak service area when using this setting, your phone can lose contact
with the home system and lock onto the non-home system.
To set the system priority, do the following:
1. Press "MENU". Then, press "1". The current priority setting appears.
2. Press "<" to scan the options.
3. Press "STO" to select the displayed option.
4. After you select the option, press "CLR" or wait about 15 seconds.
During normal operation, the AB indicator shows the current setting:
A - Indicates that the phone is using the Type A system.
B - Indicates that the phone is using the Type B system.
AB- Indicates that the phone is using both systems.
BLANK - Indicates that the phone is using only the home area of its
home system.
DUAL-NAM OPERATION
Your phone's dual-NAM (Number Assignment Module) feature lets you
subscribe to two cellular services in your area or to a cellular service
in two different areas. You phone identifies the numbers as "OWN" and
"OPT".
If you want to display the currently selected phone number, press
"4 9 RCL". (Memory Location "49" is reserved for the number the phone is
currently using).
To change from the current phone number to the other phone number, follow
these steps.
1. Press "MENU 7". The phone displays the number it is currently using.
2. Press ">" to display the other number. If there is no second number,
the display does not change.
3. Press "STO" to select the displayed number.
