CT-1055/CT-1050 (170-1007/1021) Battery Charging Faxback Doc. # 8858
Cellular Telephone
CHARGING THE BATTERY
When you first operate your CT-1055 or when you see or hear the low
battery warnings described later in this owner's manual, you must charge
or recharge the telephone's battery.
NOTE:
-The battery strength indicator indicates low battery only.
We recommend that you buy an extra rechargeable battery as a spare
(available from your local Radio Shack store).
Use and recharge your CT-1055 within the normal temperature range of 14 to
104 degrees F. (-10 to 40 degrees C). Extreme heat, such as that in a
closed vehicle in direct sunlight, will cause the battery to lose it's
charge. Extreme cold permanently damages the battery.
At temperatures below 68 degrees F (20 degrees C) the battery performance
will be reduced. This will reduce the standby and talk time.
The battery charges best from the supplied AC charger. Charge the battery
in your home or office for about 12 hours before you use the telephone the
first time.
Connecting the telephone to the cigarette-lighter, maintains the charge
and provides a trickle charge to a fully discharged battery. It takes
about 24 hours to fully charge the battery this way; you should not count
on this method to charge the battery in a short time.
NOTES:
-Do not leave the telephone and battery connected to your car battery for
more than 36 hours at a time with the engine turned off, because the
telephone's charging circuit drains your car battery.
-When you use the telephone in a vehicle, we recommend that you use the
cigarette-lighter power adapter in order to conserve the telephone's
battery.
TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY WITH THE AC CHARGER:
Unplug the battery cable from the vehicle battery adapter and connect it
to the AC charger. Plug in the AC charger and allow the battery to charge
for twelve hours. Once the charging is complete, unplug the AC charger
and store it in the carry bag's accessory pocket. Then reconnect the
battery cable to the VBA. Do not leave the battery continuously charging
for more than 24 hours.
NOTE: You cannot use the telephone while charging the battery with the
AC charger.
TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY IN YOUR CAR:
Plug the cigarette-lighter power adapter into your car's cigarette-lighter
socket.
The cigarette-lighter power adapter trickle charges your telephone's
battery to full capacity in 24 hours. (Even when your cellular telephone
is turned off), but remember never to leave the battery charging
continuously for more than 24 hours.
