ET-498 (430-1003) Troubleshooting Faxback Doc. # 6435

We do not expect you to have any problems with your phone, but if you do,
the following guidelines might help. If you still have problems, check
other phones on the same line to see if they work properly. If they do
and the problem does not seem to be with your phone service, take the
phone to your local Radio Shack store for assistance.

If someone picks up another phone on the same line, the volume level
might drop or you might hear unusual sounds. If this happens, hang up
the other phone.

If your phone does not work or works poorly, check the connection to the
phone line. If a call is too noisy, change the channel using the
procedure shown in "Changing Channels." If the call does not improve,
hang up and redial the number. If you still have problems, disconnect
the phone, if other phones on the same line work properly, the fault is
in your phone or its installation, if you cannot locate the problem, take
your phone to your local Radio Shack store for assistance.

If interference is severe, try the following:

If you receive interference from another cordless phone, select
  another channel.

Keep the handset away from interference sources such as computers,
remote controlled toys, wireless microphones, wireless alarm
systems, wireless intercoms and room monitors, fluorescent lights,
and electrical appliances. If the interference is severe, turn
  off the interfering device.

If the range decreases, try the following:

Position the base's antenna straight up and down.

Return the handset to the base and recharge the battery.

Be sure neither the base or the handset antenna is touching a metal
  surface.

If the phone does not work, try the following:

Move the handset closer to the base.

Be sure the modular cord and AC adapter are correctly and securely
  connected.

Be sure the battery is charged, (if the battery is too low, the phone
  does not work).

With the handset turned on, return the handset to the base for 5
seconds. This resets the security access code.
