Simple NAM Programming Guide

IMPORTANT:  Programming is normally done by a trained technician at the 
site of purchase.  To do your own programming, you will need the 
information below.  Contact your Cellular Service Provider to request this 
information and record it here along with your cellular phone number.

Phone Number:        _ _ _ - _ _ _ - _ _ _ _

Fill in the blanks in steps 2 - 5 below with the necessary numbers.  Then 
follow these five easy steps to program your phone.

Instruction:          Key Sequence:                      Display:

1. Enter NAM 1        Press 7, 4, 6, 6, 3, #>, 1, FCN,   Enter Number
   Programming          FCN (spells P-H-O-N-E-#>, 1,
   Mode                 FCN, FCN).

2. Enter your Phone   Use keypad to enter all 10 digits  312-555-1212
   Number               of your number, and press STO.    (Sample number)

3. Enter Analog       Enter _ _ _ _ _.  Press STO.       12345 (Analog
   System ID                                              System ID)

4. Enter Digital      Enter _ _ _ _ _.  Press STO.       54321 (Digital
   System ID                                              System ID)

5. Enter Digital      Enter _ _ _ _ _ (typically 65535). 65535 (Digital
   Network ID          Press STO.                         Network ID)

Don't worry if you make a mistake.  You'll see: Try again.  After a few 
seconds, your phone will display the number you just entered.  Press CLR 
to erase one digit at a time or press and hold CLR to erase the entire 
entry.  Enter the correct number, then press STO and you're finished!

Programming NAM 2

Programming NAM 2 works the same as NAM 1, EXCEPT substitute the following 
step 1 in the sequence above.  (Hint: It's identical except the 1 changes 
to a 2).

1. Enter NAM 2        Press 7, 4, 6, 6, 3, #., 2, FCN,   Enter Number
   Programming         FCN, (spells P-H-O-N-E-#>, 2,
   Mode                FCN, FCN).

Preferred Scanning

Enhanced Preferred Scanning allows you to tell your cellular phone which 
networks to register with when your home network is not available.  You 
can tag the System ID number of a particular network with one of three 
types of preference (1) Home Preferred, (2) Roam Preferred, and (3) 
Inhibit.

Keep in mind:  If you program a network as Home Preferred, the Roam 
Indicator will not be displayed when you are registered with this network.

Instruction:          Key Sequence:                      Display

1. Enter Enhanced     Press 7, 9, 7, 4, 3, FCN, FCN      Nam 1 Sys IDs
   Preferred Mode     (S-Y-S-I-D  FCN FCN).
   for NAM 1

2. Choose Memory      Press #> to scroll to an empty     001 ***** Empty
   Location           location.

3. Enter 5-digit      Use keypad to enter number.        12345
   System ID          Press STO.

4. Choose Preference  Press #> to scroll to your         Roam, Home, or
   Type               desired type.                      Inhibit

5. Save Entry         Press STO. You will see a loca-    12345 Roam
                      tion number 001-200, the new SID,  12345 Home
                      and your network preference.       12345 Inhibit

6. Program Another    Repeat Steps 2 through 5 for each  002 ***** Empty
   System ID          System ID.

7. Exit Enhanced      Press END to exit when you are
   Preferred Mode     finished.

Programming NAM 2

Programming NAM 2 works the same as NAM 1, EXCEPT substitute the following 
step 1 in the sequence above.  (Hint: Add a 2 to the end of S-Y-S-I-D.)

1. Enter Enhanced     Press 7, 9, 7, 4, 3, 2, FCN, FCN   Nam 1 Sys IDs
   Preferred Mode     (S-Y-S-I-D-2 FCN FCN).
