If you've been reading along diligently, this may be a good time for a
break - put your feet up and have some fun with the Tone Controls. Use
these features to personalize your phone's ringer styles, or turn them off
for some peace and quiet.
In this chapter you will learn how to:
Choose from nine different ringer styles.
silence the keypad.
silence the Scratchpad.
Note: Follow these symbols as a guide for using the keys on the side of
your phone.
Press [Volume Up] to scroll up.
Press [Smart Button] to select.
Press [Volume Down] to scroll down.

1. Press [FCN] then press [Smart Button] to enter the menu system.
2. Press [Volume Up] or [Volume Down] to scroll to Tone Control and press
[Smart Button] to select.
3. Press [Volume Up] or [Volume Down] to scroll to the following
features:
Silent Ringer
The M70 phone gives you the ability to turn OFF the ringing sound for
times when you cannot be disturbed.
4. Press [Smart Button] to toggle Ringer On or Ringer Off.
5. Press [END] to exit the menu, or you may scroll to other features.
Select Ringer Style
The M70 phone offers you nine different ringer styles. After you choose a
style, the phone will give you a brief sample of your new alert sound.
4. Press [Smart Button] to select Ringer Style. You will hear a sample
of your current ringer style.
5. Press [1] through [9] to hear the different ringer styles, or you may
scroll through the ringer styles.
6. Press [Smart Button] to select the setting you want.
7. Press [END] to exit the menu, or you may scroll to other features.
Keypad Tones
Keypad Tones are the sounds made when your phone's keys are pressed. If
you need to be discreet, use this feature to silence the audio feedback
from the keypad.
Keep in mind: Even with keypad Tones OFF, callers will still hear the
tones.
4. Press [Smart Button] to toggle Keypad Tone On or Keypad Tone Off.
5. Press [END] to exit the menu, or you may scroll to other features.
Shortcut: Press [FCN] then press [Smart Button], then [3], [2] and
continue with step 4.
Scratchpad Tones
Scratchpad tones are the tones that your phone sends to access automated
calling systems like Voice Mail. If you don't want your party to hear
these sounds when you use the Scratchpad, turn the Scratchpad Tones OFF.
4. Press [Smart Button] to toggle Scratchpad Tone On or Scratchpad Tone
Off.
5. Press [END] to exit the menu, or you may scroll to other features.
Shortcut: Press [FCN] then press [Smart Button], then [3], [3] and
continue with step 4.
IMPORTANT: If you turned the Scratchpad Tones OFF, but you want to access
a tone-activated system like Voice Mail, place your call,
enter the number you need to transmit, then:
Press [RCL] then press [SEND] to send the tones.
