Internal phone book and call logs.
Your Sprint PCS Phone comes with an internal phone book and call logs.
All the basic features and functions of your phone book are described
below. See below for instructions on how to use your call logs.
Understanding your phone's memory.
Your Sprint PCS Phone has 99 phone book memory locations -- that is, 99
places to store phone numbers with names. Each phone number can include
up to 32 digits and each name can have up to 12 characters. When storing
confidential numbers, use memory locations 90-99. Numbers stored in those
locations will not be displayed either during a phone call or in the call
log.
Saving and storing a phone number.
When adding numbers to your internal phone book, keep in mind that memory
locations 1 through 9 should be used for Speed Dialing (your most commonly
used phone numbers). To save numbers, simply follow the directions below.
1. Enter the number you want to save. We suggest that you save numbers
using ten digits (area code + number) so you can dial from your phone
book while traveling outside your Sprint PCS Home Service Area. Press
[OK] to save the number.
2. The phone searches for the next available memory location. To accept
that location, press [OK]. To save the number to a different memory
location, enter that location number or use [/\*] or [#\/] to scroll
to another empty location and press [OK]. If the phone number has
previously been saved to your phone book, the display will read
"Phone # already in MEM #___." If you enter the number of a memory
location that already has a number stored in it, the phone prompts
"Replace?" Press [OK] to replace it with the new number or press
[CLR] to go back a step.
3. Next, enter the name that goes with the number. To enter a letter,
press the number key on which it's listed once, twice, three or four
times, depending on whether the letter you'd like to enter is listed
on the key first, second, third or fourth. (For example, press [2]
once for "A," twice for "B" and three times for "C.")
To enter letters consecutively that are listed on the same number key,
press the [#\/] to separate them. For example, here's how you would
spell Gill:
1. To enter "G," press [4] once.
2. To enter "I," first press [#\/] (since you will be pressing [4]
again), then press [4] three times to get "I."
3. To enter "L," press [5] three times.
4. To enter the next "L," first press [#\/] (since you will be
pressing [5] again), then press [5] three times.
You can add punctuation to the name by using the [1] key. The
following chart shows the order in which punctuation is stored on the
[1] key.
Character Sequence: 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th
Punctuation: 1 . ' , ( ) -- & @
To correct any mistakes, press [/\*] or [#\/] to move the cursor to
the incorrect character and then either press [CLR] to delete that
character or simply type the correct character over it. Each
character will blink when the cursor is on it.
6. When the name is entered correctly, press [OK]. The phone displays a
confirmation message containing the name and number.
Your phone will also give you the option of saving a number when you end a
call or miss a call. Just press OK while the number is still displayed.
If the flip was closed when the missed call came in, open the flip and
press [OK] to store the number. If the standby display screen returns
before you can store the number, just retrieve the number from your call
log (see below). Numbers in your call log can also be saved to the phone
book.
Entering a pause.
Pauses make automated phone systems and calling cards easier to use by
allowing you to store extra numbers, such as access codes, as part of the
phone book entry. When you call the stored number, the phone will stop
dialing when it reaches the pause. When you press [TALK], the phone will
dial the next series of numbers.
To insert a pause into a phone book entry, just enter the first numbers
then press [MENU] where you want to insert a pause. the pause is
displayed as "p" in the number. Continue to enter additional numbers and
pauses, up to 32 total characters.
