ET-499 Deluxe Cordless Telephone
(430-0565) Troubleshooting Faxback Doc. # 47503
We do not expect you to have any problems with your phone, but if you do,
the following guidelines might help. If you still have problems, take the
phone to your local RadioShack store where our personnel will assist you.
If interference is severe, try the following:
Press CH to change the channel.
Keep the handset away from interference sources such as computers,
remote control toys, wireless microphones, wireless alarm systems,
wireless intercoms and room monitors, fluorescent lights and electrical
appliances. If the interference is severe, turn off the interfering
device.
If the range decreases, try the following:
Fully extend both antennas, and place the base's antenna in a vertical
position.
Return the handset to the cradle, and recharge the battery.
Be sure neither antenna is touching a metal surface.
If the phone does not work, try the following:
Be sure POWER is set to ON.
Move the handset closer to the base.
Be sure the phone line cord and AC adapter are correctly and securely
connected.
Be sure the handset's battery is charged. (If the battery is too low,
it does not have enough power to light the BATT LOW indicator.)
Fully extend both antennas, and place the base's antenna in a vertical
position.
With the handset turned on, return the handset to the cradle for about
5 seconds. This resets the channel and security code.
Your phone has a special circuit that protects it from static discharge.
The circuit turns off the handset if it receives a static discharge. If
the handset stops working, turn it off for a few seconds to reset this
circuit.
If someone picks up another phone on the same line, the volume level might
drop or you might hear unusual sounds. If this happens, hang up the other
phone.
If your phone does not work or works poorly, check the connection to the
phone line. If the call is too noisy, hang up and redial the number. If
you still have problems, disconnect the phone. If other phones on the same
line work properly, the fault is in this phone or its installation. If you
cannot locate the problem, take your phone to your local RadioShack store
where our personnel will assist you.
