(170-1219) Function Keys/Display Faxback Doc. # 47374

Alright, then. See all those little keys and display indicators on your
new phone? (Relax. Take a deep, cleaning breath.)

This section identifies them all and explains what exactly they do. It
also gives you instructions on getting your phone charged, powered up,
and ready to go.

FUNCTION KEYS

The following keys perform these functions when pressed during most
procedures.

[Gear symbol] - Use the dial-shuttle, on the side of the phone, to
select options and perform actions indicated on the
display. It can be scrolled up, down or pressed in
like your computer's mouse for quick access to
                    features like your phone book.

[Envelope symbol] - The message key easily lets you pick up pages, text
                    messages, and voice mail messages.

[CLR] - This clears characters from the screen and/or "backs
up" a screen. Press it once to erase a digit or
character. Hold it down to erase all digits. When
you're in a menu, press it once to go back a level.
Hold it down to go back to the standby display.

[SEND] - Press this one to place and receive calls or activate
network features like call waiting and three-way
                    calling.

[END] - Ciao, baby. This button disconnects your call. It
also lets you exit all the way out of a menu back to
the phone's most basic standby display.

[1] - These keys enter numbers, characters, and choose menu
                    items.

DISPLAY INDICATORS

Different indicators appear based on the phone's operating mode.

(8 8 8) - The 3 characters in the upper left hand corner
indicate phone book memory location number "L01,"
recent calls list number "C07," and feature menu
                     number "F01."

               (D) - This means the phone is operating in digital mode. If
this indicator is missing from the display your phone
is either operating in analog mode or there is no
                     service available.

(antenna symbol) - More lines means signal strength.

(Crossed Phone - This tells you the phone's not getting a signal from
hand piece symbol) the network. You cannot make or receive calls when
                     present.

(Phone hand - A call in progress. No phone icon, no call.
     piece symbol)

               (R) - The phone's outside of its home area.

(Envelope symbol) - This lets you know when a new voice mail, page, or
                     text message has been received.

(Battery symbol) - This shows your remaining battery charge. The more
black you see the greater the charge.

(Key symbol) - This means your keypad is protected from accidental
keypresses. You can receive calls or messages, but
you can't press keys when this is on.

(Arrow up) - You can move the dial-shutter up to scroll through
                     menu items.

(Arrow down) - You can move the dial-shutter down to scroll through
                     menu items.

(=>) - Push the dial-shutter in to select menu items and
                     features.
