SONY Quick Start Guide

Set up the base unit

1.  Attach the wall bracket on the bottom of the base unit to use it as a
    stand.  Align the /\ marks.
                     /__\

2.  Connect the telephone line cord to LINE jack on back of phone and a
    telephone outlet.

3.  Connect the AC power adapter to the DC IN 9V jack on back of the phone
    and an AC outlet.

4.  Raise the antenna.

5.  Set the DIAL MODE switch to:

       T: Tone dialing

       P: Pulse dialing

Install the Battery Pack

1.  Slide open the battery compartment lid.

2.  Connect the battery connector with correct polarity.

3.  Hook the cords and insert the battery pack.  Then close the lid.

Charge the Battery Pack

Place the handset on the base unit.  You can place either side facing up.
Charge the battery pack for at least 12 hours.

Enter your area code

1.  Press [PGM/VOL].

2.  Turn Jog Dial up to make "AREA" flash.

        "DIRECTORY AREA"

3.  Press Jog Dial.

4.  Enter three digits of your area code using the dialing keys.

5.  Press [PGM/VOL].

Making Calls

1.  Pick up the handset.

2.  Press [TALK].

3.  Dial the phone number.

4.  When you're done talking, press [OFF].

Receiving Calls

1.  When you hear the phone ring, pick up the handset from the base unit
    and press [TALK].

2.  When you're done talking, press [OFF].

One-touch dialing

Storing Numbers

1.  Press [PGM/VOL].

2.  Press one of the three ONE-TOUCH DIAL buttons ([A] to [C]).

3.  Enter the phone number you want to store.

4.  Press [PGM/VOL].

Making Calls

1.  Press [TALK].

2.  Press one of the three ONE-TOUCH DIAL buttons ([A] to [C]).

Storing Numbers and Names

1.  Press [PGM/VOL].

2.  Press Jog dial.

3.  Enter the name using the dialing keys. To enter two characters assigned
    to the same key, turn Jog Dial up to move the cursor to the right.

4.  Press [PGM/VOL].

5.  Enter the phone number.

6.  Press [PGM/VOL].

Making Calls

1.  Press Jog Dial twice.

2.  To search in alphabetical order: turn Jog Dial up or down.

    To search by the initial character: press the dialing key of the
    desired character, then turn Jog Dial.

3.  Press Jog Dial twice.

Using Caller ID service

Caller ID requires subscription through local telephone company. Please
contact your local telephone company for details and availability of
service.

When You Receive a Call

The phone number appears on the display with the date and time.

If your Caller ID service includes the caller name service, the caller's
name also appears on the display.

        Caller's name                  SMITH JOHN

        Caller's phone number          1-201-123-4567

        The date and time received       7:04 ON 4:03

In certain cases, the caller's name or phone numbers will not be displayed.
