Your battery needs no maintenance other than routine charging. The battery
should be at or near room temperature when charging.

The accessories shipped with your phone vary by model. All accessories
shipped with your phone vary by model. All accessories are available as
options if you do not have them with your phone.

Overnight Dual Charger

The Overnight Dual Charger accommodates any two batteries. The front
pocket can recharge a battery with the phone attached. The yellow lamps
indicate that the unit or batteries are properly inserted and charging.

NOTE: It is recommended that the Slim Extra Capacity battery be charged
       in the front pocket.

Provided the phone is turned off, the Slime and Standard batteries will
recharge in nine hours; the Slim Extra Capacity and Extra Capacity
batteries in 14 hours.

NOTE: If you have an optional IntelliCharge II Rapid Charger and an
Overnight Dual Charger, be certain to plug each charger's transformer
into the proper charger base. They are not interchangeable.

IntelliCharge XT Rapid Charger

The optional IntelliCharge XT Rapid Charger accommodates any two batteries.
The front pocket can recharge a battery with the telephone attached.

NOTE: It is recommended that the Extra Capacity battery be charged in
       the front pocket.

The battery in the front pocket has priority and, if it is in range, is
rapid charged first. When the rapid charge of the front pocket battery is
complete, the charger switches to rapid charge the second battery. Each
pocket of the IntelliCharge charger has its own multi-color lamp to
indicate that the battery and/or telephone have been properly placed in the
charger pocket and that the battery is either rapid charging (red) or
trickle charging (green). A flashing yellow lamp indicates that the battery
is out of range for a rapid charge, or waiting for the battery in the
priority pocket to be charged first.

The Slim and Standard batteries will charge to 90% of capacity within 60
minutes. The Slim Extra Capacity battery will rapid charge to 90% of
capacity within 80 minutes. The Extra Capacity battery will rapid charge
to 90% of capacity within 90 minutes.

To protect the battery, rapid charging halts prior to reaching full charge
and trickle charging begins. Leave the standard battery in the
IntelliCharge charger for two additional hours to reach full capacity,
three additional hours for the Slim Extra Capacity or Extra Capacity
battery.

Batteries will not rapid charge when they are below 50 F (10 C) or above
113 F (45 C). In addition, new batteries (or batteries which have been
stored without use) may not rapid charge. In these instances, the charger
light will turn green within one minute, indicating the need for overnight
charging. Leave the Slim battery in the charger for ten hours to reach
full capacity. The Slim Extra Capacity and the Extra Capacity batteries
require 15 hours to reach full capacity.

NOTE: If you have an IntelliCharge Rapid Charger and an Overnight Dual
Dual Charger, be certain to plug each charger's transformer into
the proper base. They are not interchangeable.

Ultra Saver

The optional Ultra Saver requires no installation and allows you to power
your telephone from a vehicle's battery and charge the phone's battery.
This is particularly valuable when driving rental cars.

To attach the Ultra Saver to your phone, locate the metal contacts on the
flat side of the Ultra Saver connector cover. Match the metal contacts
together, making sure that the white dot on the Ultra Saver connector
faces the same direction as the front of the telephone. You will hear a
click to indicate that the connection has been properly made. Plug the
Ultra Saver into the vehicle's cigarette lighter socket.

Your telephone will now be powered by the vehicle's battery rather than
the telephone's battery. The keypad backlighting and display will remain
on as long as the Ultra Saver is attached to the unit and plugged into the
vehicle.

NOTE: The Ultra Saver has a three-amp fuse, which you may replace yourself
       if necessary.

To remove the Ultra Saver from the phone, use one of the following methods.

Standard Method

Turn off your telephone, then squeeze both sides of the Ultra Saver
connector until the tabs release. Then remove the connector from the rear
of the phone. If the battery saver is being used with the vehicular
charger/holder, this unit includes a slot on its top surface which allows
you to slow the coil cord connector when not in use.

Quick Change Method

This method allows you to unplug your telephone from the Ultra Saver during
a telephone call without losing the call. Unplug the coil cord from the
telephone by squeezing both sides of the Ultra Saver connector until the
tabs release, then press PWR.

This will return you to your telephone call. The phone will not go through
the normal power-up cycle. You will only have four seconds to complete
this action before your telephone call is terminated. Advise the party on
the other end of the call before beginning this procedure. If the battery
saver is being used with the vehicular charger/holder, stow the coil cord
connector as described previously.

Three-Watt Car Kits

Important Notice Regarding Operation of your Phone with Three-Watt Car
Kits

This phone is equipped with new software. Phones with the new software are
marked with the EE3 logo, found on the FCC ID label on the back of the
phone.

EE3 phones are compatible with Motorola's latest three-watt car kit
solution - the Three-Watt Booster.

This Three-Watt Booster offers enhanced operations (full three-watt
transmit power in vehicular holder) when used with a Micro Car Kit Hands
Free Adapter and a compatible Micro T A C Pocket Phone or Flip Phone.

Phones with this logo will operate at an enhanced three watts of power only
when used with the new Three-Watt Booster. This phone is not compatible
with Motorola's original Three-Watt VA (Vehicle Adapter) or Motorola's
Extended System.

Nickel Metal Hydride Batteries

Nickel metal hydride batteries are high capacity batteries which offer up
to 30% more talk time than comparable nickel cadmium batteries.

To insure maximum life and capacity of your new nickel metal hydride
battery, it is suggested that you charge with Motorola approved chargers,
and do not leave the battery in the charger for more than 24 hours.

The IntelliCharge Rapid Charger and vehicular holder will charge your
battery to approximately 90% capacity in two hours, depending on the
capacity of the battery. The battery will continue to slow charge until
fully charged.

NOTE: It is recommended that the Standard and the Extra Capacity batteries
be charged in the front pocket.

The Portable Cellular Connection

Your phone is data compatible and may be used in conjunction with The
Portable Cellular Connection to connect to peripheral devices that are
compliant with telephone industry RJ11 specifications.

The Portable Cellular Connection kit consists of a cable that is plugged
into the convertible adapter outlet on the bottom of the phone.

Examples of such peripheral devices:

FAX (facsimile machine)

Personal computer

The Cellular System

There are generally two types of cellular systems serving any metropolitan
area. One of these will most likely be operated by the telephone company
that provides telephone service to your community, generally referred to
as a wireline carrier. The other cellular service provider is a radio
common carrier, referred to as a non-wireline carrier.

Your Cellular Service Operator will provide information concerning specific
features, procedures, and coverage in your particular area.

Optional 832/2412 Channel Operation (NAMPS)

A high-capacity cellular call technology is available in some markets.
This technology can use up to 2,412 channels in cellular systems designed
to use this capability.

To determine if your telephone is capable of 2412 channel operation, first
find the serial number, located behind the battery and affixed to your
telephone. On units capable of 2412 channel operation, `832/2412 Channel
Operation' will appear. If your telephone is equipped with 2412 channel
operation, it will automatically operate on cellular systems so equipped.

NOTE: Retrofitting for 2412 channel operation is not possible.

Your cellular carrier may offer enhanced features, such as Calling Line
Identifier, Voice Mail Status, and Short Messaging. If your unit is
equipped with 2412 channel operation, these features may be available to
you. Check with your cellular service provider for more information.
These messages, when received by your unit, are stored in a special memory
and accessed through the Digital Messaging Service (DMS).

You will be informed when a successful message has been received by the
telephone via a beep.

To enter the DMS, press RCL, then press and hold RCL again. If no
messages are contained in the DMS, No Msgs will display. If there are any
messages in the stack, the phone will display XX NEW, followed by XX TOTAL
(where XX is the number of messages) to indicate how many new, unviewed
messages and how many total messages are in the stack. Use * and # to
scroll through those features. Check with your cellular service provider
for more information.

External Connector Cover

The metal contacts of the external connector may have a cover to prevent
debris from getting in. To remove the cover, insert a small pry such as a
paper clip into the slot and apply pressure outward.
