The phone disconnects a call 5 minutes after you put it on hold.
However, during those 5 minutes, a series of beeps reminds you the
call is on hold.  After 1 minute, the device (handset or base) where
the line was put on hold beeps every 15 seconds.  After 4 minutes, the
device beeps every 5 seconds.  After 5 minutes, the device sounds a long
tone and disconnects the call.

NOTES:  If you place the second line on hold, the hold time restarts
        for the first line.  Both lines automatically disconnect after
        5 minutes.

        A call on hold does not automatically disconnect as long as you
        are talking on the second line.  The hold time restarts when you
        hang up the second line.

You can use anther phone on the same line to pick up the call on hold,
but the device that put the line on hold still shows that line on hold
still shows that line on hold.  After 5 minutes, the hold releases and
the line indicator turns off.
